Prolia Side Effects (Page 82) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Not retina problem, already had tha checked out.
Thanks,
Sounds like my doctors reaction. When I couldn't walk after 2 injections he gave me a third saying things would have been worse without Prolia. How can these doctors be so stupid.
Did your doctor prescribe Potos? How bad was your bone density when you
started Protos? Can you give me a little more info on this Stontium Raelate?
My doctor prescribed protos when I broke my wrist in 2007. At the time my bone density was decreasing. My last bone density this year shows remarkable increases so now on hip bone I am not osteoporotic any more and just osteopaenia in the spine. Something like 9 and 12% increases on last test 3 years ago. One of the side effects of protos is blood clots so my doctor wants me to go on to prolia injection as I've been on protos for a long time. For that reason I will probably try the injection which is 6 monthly, less expensive than protos and dont have to take it every night. Still unsure will probably try a 6 month shot
After reading most of these medschats and do not feel the risks of Prolia is worth it. Did you have any blood clots while you were on the Protos? Is it a prescription? I've taken every med available for osteoporosis in past 17yrs. Have you take Forteo? It is a 2yr. treatment, an injection daily. I did respond to it when nothing else worked, unfortunately you can take it only once in a lifetime.
My name is Esther and I am 68. I have been in pretty good health until 2 months after my second Prolia injection. My mouth, jaw, gums hurt, even my tongue is sensitive. My back bothers me and my leg also is in pain. I get tired easier and often. I am nog myself. This January will be 6 months since my last shot anc I pray that this medicine leaves my body soon.
I recently read on line about Vivian Goldschmidt's experience with osteoporosis drugs and have since stopped my Protos granules (strontium Ranelate) taken each night and adopted some of her recommendations. I did not not have side effects from the Protos but it can give you blood clots when taken for a long period of time and my doctors recommended Prolia IV's. Hence my research in this site. Vivian has written a book called 'Save our Bones'. I havent read the whole book but probably will at some stage. Look her up on google and you will find it very interesting reading. I did.
I am suffering from BRONJ. Which is Bisphonosphonate related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw.It is a lifelong problem of losing ones teeth and even your jaw. It's a rare occurrance and the medical community is unware of it.
I have just had my 2nd prolia injection and feel exhausted, pains in my arms, ive no doubt that this will go in few weeks as it did last time around, however, since October I have been experiencing horrendous itching eyes, did not put this down to the injection, but changed my make up etc, my eyes are red at all times, did anyone ever experience similar issues to this, I would appreciate your comments please and thank you, I am 47 years and diagnosed with chronic osteoporosis after my 3rd DEXA scan! :-)
Thank you all! I am 52 post menop. Due to hysterectomy. I have osteoporosis and can't take fosomax due to side effects, gastro intestinal. Last year I tried reclast infusion and ended up in the ER with chest heaviness and trouble breathing. This subsided and was replaced with flu like symptoms for a few days. Now it is time for my next infusion which scares me. I chose reclast. Due for shot next week, but after reading this chat...no way. So, maybe it is back to reclast. If I were older, I would take my chances with nothing.
Has anyone tried bio-identical hormone replacement?
I am a 77 yr old woman that has osteoporosis, osteo arthritis, acid reflux, & IBS. I was put on Reclast in 2008. I did not have any problems with it, so I thought. I have had at least 2 or 3 more. I did not have a fracture until I started Reclast, had 2 found in 2009 . Now my Dr. Wants me to go with Prolia, I have researched this numerous hrs, and so glad I came upon this site. My PD advised me to research Prolia and make my own mine up. I think My mine is made up. I will not take this as of now. Thanks to all of you that have posted your results, and I do wish everyone better health very soon. I for now will go to PT, and be very careful not to fall.
I had my 2nd 11days ago & in lots of pain this time around, pain in left arm constant. Gums v sore!!!
I had only one injection of Prolia and I knew that it was harming me. Definitely, I am worried of what I am to do now without any of these medications, but I don' t want these discomforts. My jaw and gums hurt, my tongue has been at times extremely sensitive, to the point that it was painful to even speak. My left hip hurts, my arthritis flared up and in general I feel tired. I am on Synthroid and although I a, not sure that my unbalanced thyroid has anything to do with Prolia, I wouldn't be surprised by it. I think that as an intelligent person, I need to make decisions, but I am taking Calcium plus Vit D and I need to start at least walking. I am also researching how my diet would need to change to better health. Good luck all of you, because it hasn't been easy nor pleasant.
I had a prolia shot a year ago last October. My whole central nervous system was affected. Was hospitalized 6 weeks and in Nursing home 3 weeks. Still I have problems with my brain can't do math or remember a lot of spelling. My left arm and leg has permanent nerve damage. I can't have a flu shot anymore because of it. If you are thinking about this drug DON"T.
I have a terrible discomfort, almost pzin in my teeth now. I touched them and they don't move but they hurt. I had gum pain, mouth sores, jaw pain, lip dryness and now tooth pain among many other problems. I wonder what next??? I had an atrial fibrilation event, problems with my thyroid anc God only knows what's next. I am positive that Prolia is at fAult. I am never taking it again.
I've been in bed a week now going to doctors in between, increased my calcium tabs to help with pain !! On pain killers to help ease pain, had eyes checked need special drops if not work then surgical procedure! Gums teeth very sore, have had to get crown filling & now root canal, just had nerve removed couldn't take pain anymore!
Reggie I also had to have a root canal one month after my shot last May. My mouth, gums and teeth still hurt. Hope you feel better soon.
