Prolia Side Effects (Page 8)

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Hi Irene,
A tip for taking the Strontium Citrate is you aren't supposed to be taking it with milk products, so many people leave it on the bedside and take it in the middle of the night. I am usually up at least once to go to the bathroom and take it then.

Hi Daphne: Sure glad you mentioned this about not taking with Milk. I have been and will change routine. Thanks for sharing this.

I am so glad I found this site. I had my second shot about a month ago. I was thinking that the aches, bloating, constipation, mouth sores inside and outside on the corners of my lips, sores on tongue, headaches, ear pain, sore throat, itchy scalp could be the Prolia. However, I do take alot of pills including Arimidex which causes aches, but not I am positive its the Prolia. My knee is swollen for no reason that I know of that is my only complaint that I didn't find on this site.

I have had 2 injections now....not until the second one did the side effects kick in! fluid on legs arms and ankles so bad can't wear any shoes! digestive probs and having IBS its no joke....feeling ill all the time...but the worst thing is its making the pain worst in my bones.....I am now in a wheelchair after all my struggles to remain mobile......and going around my flat with 2 sticks... I had spine fusion surgery in the hopes that I would be better...thanks to the injection I am not....plus the Consultant was no help....very impatient in fact..I hope that this is helpful.

I am so sorry that you are not feeling well. I had my injection in Feb. and I am still suffering from pain and swollen legs,feet and ankles, also struggling with weight gain. Hope you feel better soon. Irene

My wife had her first shot of Prolia May 25th...Right away she started to feel bad..fatigue, tired all the time...Came home from work two weeks after the shot out of breath even when she did small physical things...Tried to play golf with the ladies and had to quit after two holes..I took her to the emergency room..Her hemoglobin level was 6.1...normal is 11 or 12..Little oxygen was getting to her cells and that's why she was out of breath..They told her she was lucky she didn't have a heart attack..They gave her 3 transfusions to build up her blood up again...And it worked.three nights in the hospital...She wasn't bleeding.Probably never did bleed..She hadn't noticed any bleeding at all..That's what they were looking for...Tested her loss of blood with an endoscopy, colonoscopy, and her small intestine with a capsule-camera..NOTHING...the only thing different she did was take this shot of Prolia..NEVER AGAIN..BEWARE!! Anyone else have this problem ??

My mother got the shot 11 days ago, and got a rash on the back of her left thigh, behind knee and is going up onto buttocks. Tried all sorts of topical creams, but nothing is working. Anyone have any remedies, other than the doctor at this point?

To early to tell, i had 3 shots and my life has been hell.
Last one was September 2011 and it still not out of my system. According to the Doc it could take a year to a year and a half.

Why did you take 3 shots? Hope all goes well with you.
I had 1 shot April 9, 2011, and still have symptoms, including bony growths on my gums - IBS problems, bone pain, and other horrible symptoms. I stopped with the first one. But I read that some have had the injection 18 months and still having terrible side effects.I get chills from head to toes, and then get very hot, its impossible to sleep, not knowing what will be the next wave.

I took the 3 shots on my doctors advise for my osteo. After the 3rd shot he agreed that it was not for me. Send me to a pain clinic which does not seem to help much either.
Can't wait for the day that this stuff has left my body.

Hi: I am due to get my 2nd shot on Aug. 13 but I will snot be getting it, too many side effects. I have not been sleeping well, my hands, feet and upper thighs ache all night. Oh how I wish I had read the comments before taking Prolia. My Doctor doesn,t know how long it will take for the Prolia to get out of my system. I saw him the other day because my ankles were so swollen and I was really bloated - told him I felt like the michelin man. You couldn't even see where my ankle bones were. Hope everyone starts to feel better soon.

Your wife was lucky to have good care in the hospital.
I went to ER about a month after getting Prolia Injection, doc never told me of side affects, I started right away feeling weak, pains everywhere, bloating, and couldn't get out of bed. ER docs never heard of Prolia and said it was too early to have side-affects???? Its been 15 months now - and still suffering, with blurred vision, pains in joints, IBS problems (had all tests) all OK, reflux - body overheating, then cold, shortness of breath, bony growth on the gums of my teeth. Never bothered to go back to doc that gave me the injection and never will I take another, of anything that is injectable, as you can't get rid of it. Its the new 'kid' on the block. They are now working on a 6 month injection for people who have high cholesteral. Also have heart problems and will be in the hospital for 2 days getting special test - resting stress test, as my heart has been acting up. Never before did I have any of these problems. Broke my wrist, have no osteo - but was sent for this shot anyway, its new, and they are trying it out for experiements - Hope your wife gets better. Glad she got good treatment at the ER.

I want to thank everyone who continues to post their experiences with Prolia. Had it not been for this website, I probably like a lot who have posted here, would have taken the shot and had issues like most of you. Thankful a RED flag came up in my head when they said "Get approval and it came in Injection form" This just said to me, "Check the facts". So sorry and praying for all who took the shot, they will get this nasty drug out of their system. As I have said before, I take absolutely NO RX drugs. I truly do believe in Alternative medicine. To be almost 68 and in pretty good health and managing my Diabetes with diet and exercise, I am blessed. Thank you all for the insight into Prolia. I am telling everyone at Curves where I work out about this shot.

My mothers rash turned out to be Shingles after her Prolia shot may be to low immune system afterwards, still has back pain and has had the Shingles for 2 weeks now. If I knew then, I wouldnt have had her take the shot. What a hassle.

I have now had my second shot of Prolia and feel perfectly fine - no side effects - just like a flu shot. I am so glad that my Doctor recommended this drug for me! It's so easy to take - once every six months. I will continue with the shots. It seems to me that only people that have problems post on the internet. If all goes well, and that is happening, you don't hear from those people.

It seems to me that if you are a perfectly healthy person with no real major health concerns, Prolia will definitely work for you. Some of the problems that people are experiencing would have happened anyhow and are no fault of the Prolia. I just attended an Osteoporosis workshop and Prolia was the drug of choice for all - with minimal side effects - almost like the placebo. Don't listen to all of the horror stories that are being posted. And to say that a drug has to be around for 20 years before it should be taken is silly. How would we know if no one took the drug. You have to use your own judgement and listen to your doctor. The internet can be a dangerous tool.

when you have lost mobility and in more pain for a yr of your life plus could not go to 2 special occasions in your grandchildren's life, then people should be warned that its not for everyone. Yes, you are right in one way, it does suit some people...if you could see my legs and ankles....which are the side effects of Prolia then you judge it properly....

WOW Sheba.......I have to tell you that I heard the exact same things from a drug rep. So I was dumb enough to fall for it. I WAS in per fact health!!!!!!!! Not now.
Perfect weight, blood pressure, cholesterol. No diabetes etc...... Now I have numb feet, legs and arms. Also have weird sensation around my lips. And I feel like a lucky one compared to some of these other women....I work in a physicians office and now I tell other women not to take it.
