Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Re: Daisy (# 3114) Expand Referenced Message

Daisy, I no longer take anything except for 4000iu of vitamin D. I exercise, eat calcium rich foods and, frankly, don’t think I ever was a candidate for prolia. I’m convinced that my gynecologist prescribed it as I’m a small boned person and she did research for some drug companies. I had been on actonel previously, it had helped with no side effects and my GP had taken me off as I had been on it for 7 years and needed a break. I’ll be 80 this year and so far have had no problems. Touch wood!

Re: Nikki (# 3136) Expand Referenced Message

My rheumatologists and other medical people told me "Oh, I haven’t heard of that before" when I advised of ALL the issues I have due to Prolia. To that insulting and dismissive answer I say "Well now you have ~ so you can’t say that anymore."

Unfortunately, asking them to do their homework and find out what about Prolia is attacking all of us most likely is futile. They are STILL pushing and selling Prolia.

I had all the horrible side effects from Prolia, it was almost deadly for me. I wish I had never taken the first shot, and I wish I had researched the drug instead of trusting my doctor. It has been and is still being used for bone cancer patients, since 2010! It is a for of Chemo, but they do not advertise or inform you of this information. As I said, it was a horrible drug for me and I am still suffering the side effects, I think the damage to my body is permanent. Horrible Drug!!

Yes, what a shame they are still marketing this horrible drug, I agree with you. It was the most horrible drug I have ever had. Still suffering the horrible side effects of Prolia. But still advertising it.

Re: Darcy (# 3137) Expand Referenced Message

The PA I see at the rheumatologist's office took me seriously when I told her about the side effects of Prolia. She hadn't heard of any side effects. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it to her but I made sure to let her know in case anyone else comes in with problems.

I think you're right about kick-backs or at the very least, something not right about the majority of doctors dismissing our concerns and for them not to do their homework about this drug in the first place.

a friend of 82 had a prolia jab nr 6month ago, due to osteo and pagets disease. She says she,s been no better with it, and thinks it has caused side effects making her feel worse, but its difficult to judge due to her many health problems, heamo, coeliac, others, but she wont have another, and is hoping when the 6month is up in two weeks she,ll feel better, time will tell, were all different, research and judge for yourself, as with all meds offered on trial.

hi, sorry to hear of your probs barbie, so many having severe side effects, l copy and send the messages to my friend jean, she had bad problems but now passed her 6 months by 2-3 wks, refused another jab, she,s still having some probs, maybe not as bad, but is also sending copies of complaints to her consultant, who disputed with her the probs were down to prolia, also sending copy to her adult son, who thinks it just down to her, commmon response by many who never ail at all.
Been there with years of undiagnosed intersticial cystitus, causing serious health problems and severe pain, damaging lifestyle, usual response, womens probs, gyny, hormone, phycalogical, neurotic, and others believe them, finally a diagnosis from urologist confirming chronic bladder inflammation, unknown reasons, but treatment for symptoms, how l met jean same problem, different subject, just simular response from experts, disbelief and down to you etc, etc, anyway wish you well asap.

My friend jean passed her 6 month prolia jab a few week ago, refused a second one due to worsening health probs, at present she,s battling with a bladder infection gone onto her kidney, so thats just added to her severe back and side pain, on anti bs,she still thinks a lot is prolia effect and told visiting gp that, as she had her own gp and rheaumatologist, along with showing them copies of the posts on here, they deny it or ignore it, but think her pharmacist understood, often being more honest than doctors, no come backs for them.
She,s just hoping side effects will improve in time, as its still only a few week over the 6 month.
What about the oral b add, you wonder.

After reading of your problems barbie, so much is simular to my friend jean, she also has ic, that is how l met her, through the ic group. l know about her other health problems, re pagetts and osteo, diagnosed following a fall and broken arm, which led to the prolia,
she also has heamo, hiatus hernia and is coeliac, a few other things, but she has also found difficulty with her swallowing, having to have tiny amounts, feeling that same pressure in the abdomen, which she puts down to the hernia, reflux, and leading to some breathing problems, think much is due to immune problems, as l and others with ic often have other simular conditions,
ibs, rhinitus, skin probs, reaction to penicillin few others,
so it seems as someone posted previously, and common sense l guess, those with immune problems are more likely to have bad reactions to drugs even the well tested ones, which prolia isnt not long term, my friend past her 6 month 7-8 wk ago, she,s not as ill as she was, though her back pain and ability to walk more than a few yards hasnt improved, she is now referred to a pain clinic with a view to getting a spinal injection to help with pain, still waiting till end november. But she always states to me and anyone involved including dr,s she thinks prolia made her worse. l will copy and send latest comments, will def relate to the abdomen prob amongst other symptoms, but she appreciates reading latest. Anyway best wishes to all.

I took Prolia in October. No problems till day 10. Then I was taking a shower and noticed numbness in my right leg and foot. Didn't really think it was Prolia until next day when it went to other leg and foot, both arms, and tingling around lips. It's January 1st and I am no better. As a mater of fact I got up this morning and my left arm is really numb. I've had a chronic dry cough but never thought anything of it till I read these posts. Also my numbness and tingling are down the inside of my arms and include both my thumbs and index fingers. Both my legs the numbness is down the outside of my legs, and the heels and the big toe and second toes of both feet. It's been 3 months and has not let up at all. I definitely will not be getting my second injection in April

l have posted before for my friend who had one prolia shot and suffered pain and illness, now nr a year ago and the side effects have decreased quite a bit. In a couple of weeks she goes for the spinal injection for the worsening back pain, along with meds to build the bone up, re pagets, osteo, she,s hoping the spinal jab will help, re susan can you say if and how much the spinal injection helps you, so l can pass the info on, she,s a bit worried over side effects from that, but needs it.

Its been 5 months now.......still have tingling in toes fingers and legs. Also still get tingling around mouth but not as much. My left arm gets a feeling every once in awhile like lightening going down it.
I work in a doctors office and the drug rep that talked me into getting this injection told me that there were "NO" side effects to this drug......Also after it happend to me they told me that nobody else has had these same symptoms of me and that I probably had something else wrong with me........bull crap!!!!!!!
I'm glad to see that there are others out there with the same symptoms, (not glad that they are suffering too, just glad to see its not just me)

I had my 3rd and last shot in September 2011.
It's still is affecting me to a certain extend.
The Doc has no knowledge as to how long it will take before it's completely out of my system.
I noticed the other day a commercial on Tv about Prolia. I'm surprised they even want to advertise this stuff.
It should be banned all together.

I have taken 4 Prolia injections. After the second one, I started coming down with colds and other minor infections, which is rare for me. After the third injection, I began getting regular sores in my mouth which turned out to be herpes. After the fourth injection, the herpes became extensive and chronic so I have to be on constant antiviral medication. I developed my first ever kidney stone and got stubborn acne (at age 62), requiring more medication. Reading over this forum, I realize that I have other symptoms too. My doctor didn't warn me to think twice about taking Prolia if I'm prone to infections, and he was wishy-washy about whether my complaints were due to the drug. Consequently, I'm not going back to this MD and I'll never take Prolia or ANY long-term medication again. I'm only 3 months into my final dose. This forum has been very helpful. I'm sorry for everyone's sufferings - this shouldn't be allowed to happen.

On April 1,2013 I had my 3rd Prolia shot. I have been having great deal of pain in my shin bones,knees,thighs/groan and arms from day 1. I am using a walker to get around. I went to see my primary care Dr. and she felt these problems could be from the Prolia shots. She put a call into my rheumatoligist who did not seem to agree, so I went on line to see if anyone else had side effects and found that many of you did. I called the FDA Drug Evaluation and spoke to a women who told me that there was a warning of fracturers of which I have had a stress fracture of the right femer. This drug has a long life in the body. I would advise anyone with problems to call the FDA. I see my rheumatolgist in 2 weeks and am telling him I want NO more shots. Good Luck

I happened upon this site as I was researching side effects of Prolia. My dearest friend was given the Prolia shot 25 days ago...she has been in constant pain since. Severe Jaw pain, teeth pain, eye pain, and extreme loud ringing in her ears....this has been a horrid experience. She is searching answers and has an appt with her Dentist for possible solution to the jaw/teeth pain....the only thing that has taken a slight edge off of the pain has been Tylenol...I'm thinking more research needed on this drug is imperative...

Please note the trends being posted. Those having reactions are having severe bone and muscle pain, rashes and itching all over, nausea, exhaustion, lack of balance and poor health in general. The next group has had successful injections at first but after the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. are having severe reactions. A very few have no reaction. Almost forgot, then there is the person who blindly advocates the shot who never had the shot and/or a reaction.

I went from healthy to one who could not wear a bra because of bone pain. My immune system failed. My entire body itched and I had rashes. My muscles were painful. Pain down my lower back was incredible. Because of the weakness/exhaustion my heart began racing from effort to perform chores. I could no longer drive. Ten months later I cannot make it through a day without exhaustion that puts me back in bed. I was used to working long and hard and loving it.

Think about this: If someone were to begin giving Prolia shots to animals to experiment producing the same side effects women are having now, and then marketed the shot at $3000 each, I can assure you PETA would have the story all over the press. The news media and many in the United States would NEVER allow animals to be subjected to this... citing torture and cruelty to animals. What if women soldiers were given Prolia and had adverse reactions? Remember how it made the news when men soldiers were experiment upon?

The news media needs to take a hard look at this drug and the devastating and long lasting effects on humans and who is really benefiting and how much profit is being made.

SHAME ON THOSE WHO PREY ON WOMEN FOR PROFIT.

It has been ten months since my second Prolia injection. The pain in my hip, calf and ankle is still severe. I am so sorry that I ever got involved with this evil drug! Please, does anyone know if this pain will go away someday? Tell everyone you know that this drug should be pulled from the market. It is bad bad bad!!!
