Prolia Side Effects (Page 72) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
I had the Prolia injection 2weeks ago. That night, my soft tissue and muscles started aching. I have fibromyalgia, but had not been hurting before I had the shot. I have had flu-like symptoms for two weeks. My muscles feel inflamed, but I don't have fever. I don't think I will take the second shot in 6 months.
My sister, very active ended up in hospital for 7 days with undetermined infection, high white count, fever, terrible headache, earache very painful, jaw pain after passing out for unknown reason and falling on metal stool, 8 staples in back of head . Did every test and culture available, rec. mega IV antibiotics 2 different kinds all after having first inj. of prolia 3 wks. before.
Can you tell me why you had 3? What exactly did you suffer?
Its been a yeaar April 9th, 2012, after my first injection, where the doc didn't tell me of the side effects. Got over the 2nd bladder infection, developed acid reflex, have terrible problems with teeth and gums. The new bony growth is on both sides of the teeth. Also the gums are sore and swollen - take good care of my teeth but my jaw hurts and have terrible headaches, have constant itching, no ointments help, blotchy red skin, needed laser for a tear in my retina a few months ago, didnt do anything to get this. Sore all over, don't sleep well, and I am scared I might lose my teeth - there are gaps already. The hair loss that occurred last year is getting better, but still have itchy scalp. Needless to say, I don't know, if this will be in my system for a long time, psychologically, it has ruined my life and my health.
Will report this to the hospital, as I was not given any info prior to getting this injection.
I am very scared, had a few days ago a bladder exam, antibiotics for urinary infection (2nd) one - and have to use the toilet frequently. My life is a misery. Docs don't want anything to say, the ones that are giving Prolia injections.
Hi faith, sounds like its your general immune system with the symptoms, probably the most common side effect of many strong drugs, l and others get simular following chemo, takes a time for your immunity to get back to normal. Bladder probs can have same cause, but have you even been tested for intersticial cystitus, which is a more permanent condition of the bladder, inflammation caused by immune probs, which anti b,s will not clear up or for long if bacteria is confirmed, it does cause the typical frequency and pain, and can cause severe pelvic and back pain, with general poor health tiredness etc, often undiagnosed by docs, due to not being common and ignorance about, some women go on for years with it, untill they finally get to see a urologist for cystascope, needed as it doesnt show up in samples. My friend who,s had prolia for osteo and pagetts, with severe side affects, now l6month since she had it, refused second dose, but also has ic, and is, ceoliac, also heamocromatosus, all immune probs,
l met her through also having i.c., i.bs, allergic rhinitus,
seems most people with immune problems get more than one condition. You can check out symptoms for ic on bladder adn bowel site, gives more info, might just be worth a look to see if your bladder probs are ic related. Anyway best wishes and hope things improve for you soon, been there worn the tshirt, horrendous, thankfully for me now due to dianosis and treatment, as with immune conditions usually no cure, but can be treated to improve symptoms.
After 2 injections and bone pain in my neck and in my arm, the latter for 3 months and I still do not have full range of motion in that arm. Do the symptoms eventually dissipate or continue on?
Thank you.
Joan
That should read "drug" and not "job" above.
What symptoms have you had? How long ago did you get the injection?
I had deep seated pain throughout my body. Bladder infections, flu like symptoms, sore throat. and ear aches
with the jaw pain.
For how long did you have the symptoms? I had an injection of Prolia about 3 months ago. The main symptom I have had is strange tingling/dryness in my mouth as well as sores there, and tingling in my feet and fingers. Read that it is due to a calcium deficiency, but it comes and goes. I also experienced that my immune system seems compromised since I got sick right away after the shot and had 3 more issues since.
I have had bladder issues and feel bloated all the time.
I don't plan on getting another injection, but am worried about what I can do to halt the osteoporosis!
I take Calicium and Vit D ask your doc how much to take ... Better yet ask your Pharmacist! Hugs Sed
Well talking about side effects for Prolia I found something that is working good since 3 days Im talking about the inflamation on the stomach "Probiotics 30 billion" Thanks God I feel better at least on my stomach my recomendation; dont take more pills ,another thing Im taking is: 2 grapefruit, honey and I tbspoon grapeseed oil on the mornings and at night before bed I mix aloe vera ,cactus (nopal) hone and orange juice I believe very much pn natural stuff I didnt know where my head is when I said Yes to Prolia bad bad decision.
I have had so many side effect I don't know where to begin. First I got chills, then flu like symptoms, ulserated sores on my tonge,I ache all over. My hands and feet are also sore that I can hardly walk or hold anything heavy. I then got acid reflux and fluid in both ears. My injection was 1 every year. I am due to have my next injection Aug. 3/12 but I certainly will not take it because I am in too much pain. I would like to know
how long does it take to feel better again. I also gained 7 pounds, I think a lot of it is fluid because I am bloated all the time. Help
I got a prolix injection 3 months ago and have had similar side effects that you describe. When did you have the injection? Was it last August and you still have such side effects?
I too have gained weight and feel bloated all the time.....
Daphne Young - I got my injection Feb.13/12 ,as stated I said my injection was to be once a year but I meant every six months. My next injection is Aug 13 but I will not be getting it as I have so many side effects. I don't know how long the side effects last. I am on oxyconcept for pain. I also have a spray for dry mouth as my salvia gland are not producing saliva. I was on Fosamax and it upset my stomach now the Dr want to try Actonel, but after reading the comments of other people with the same condition their side effects are really bad. Don't know where I go from here.
Hi,
Wow, I got an injection of Prolia on Feb 17! Will not go for the next one either. I am trying lots of vitamins, supplements (strontium citrate) and exercise and hope that will help. But feel so tired, bloated and achy from the shot that it is very challenging.
No one seems to know when it will wear off - I chose it over Reclast since I figured that it wouldn't last as long....
I too, don't know what to do next......good luck to you.
Daphneyoung
Daphneyooung - When I received the injection I registered with a company call Provital. I just called them and told them of all my symptoms and asked when the side effects would wear off. She said that the manufacturer of Prolia has no idea of how long the side effects last. She is going to report to them and tell them what is going on. Hope she gets an answer that we are all waiting for. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they come up with a good answer.
Numbness, tingling both legs, arms, feet, mouth. Still have it after 7 months........
Do you have any other side effects as well? Like bloating, weight gain, fatigue, and diminished immune system?
Hi: I also have fluid in both ears and they ache all the time. My whole body feels like I have been hit by a bus, so much pain. a lot of water retension, my hands and feet are swollen. The Dr. said their wasn't anything he could do I will have to wait for the drug to wear off. Who knows when that will be.
