Prolia Side Effects (Page 61) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Re: Giralda (# 2447)
Stalking is right!! I was given a lecture that lasted a long time about all the good things Prolia did for Osteoporosis! I was leery though and did not fall for it!! Heck, I have never broken a bone!!
Re: sal (# 2465)
Sal, don't beat yourself up. I ,too, had the exact same situation as you and also gave in to the doctors "speil" about how this was a wonder drug that would change my life. It did, but unfortunately for the worse!
You are definitely in the right place! You may not experience any side effects, but it still helps to be aware of potential problems. I had no idea about any side effects until they actually happened to me, and then I discovered others with the same effects. We don't all have the same side effects, but I have found people that experience the same problems I am having.. so it helps to know I am not alone in this mess and also am not crazy for linking it to Prolia. Hope you stay clear of any problems!
Re: Judy (# 2466)
Even my trusted PCP tried to defend Prolia! She said I should “try” it, once. Then if I didn’t like it I could quit it! I could not make myself do it...bcuz I couldn’t rake the chance of being in pain for 6 months when my knees were killing me too. I did not need More pain!!
Re: Elaine (# 2468)
This depression you are now experiencing post Prolia. Have you had any extensive blood work done, as your Immunoglobbulins? They will tell the truth about what is inside of you and can reveal the real cause of your depression. I never knew I had Celiac Disease before my Prolia injection. Prolia brought it to the front and center. Celiacs also have depression. I would encourage you to have them tested. If your iGA is way low and another one too, then you too are Celiac but never knew it. These are special blood tests that can be run. I encourage everyone on Prolia to have them. They will help your Dr. manage your problems and also BELIEVE YOU because it shows up in your blood. They are kind of like the keys to our DNA. My Psychiatrists have been trying for years to find out the cause of my depression and I could never find any. After we did these special blood test, I found out there is NO reason. It's my DNA. Be well~

Touché! I questioned Lady as well. Poodle, you're bang on....must be the alcohol talking. Either that or the doctor's been imbibing as well!
My hair is falling out. I have had one injection. I won’t do anymore. To many bad things with this drug bi am taking lots of calcium and Vit D plus potassium , magnesium, and iron.
Re: sal (# 2465)
I too had osteopenia. Took one shot and had all kinds of problems. I had a fractured back and two fractured ribs. I'm 76 years old and never had a fracture in my life.
Re: Poodle (# 2476)
THIS DRUG SHOULD BE BANNED LIKE OTHER DRUGS CAUSING WORSE SIDE EFFECTS THAN THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM.
Marion (# 2490) --
Hi Marion. Look in the back pages. There are people that have had that very same side effect and it seemed as if their Docs could not relate it to Prolia. I don't believe a blood thinner is going to help that problem. Do you have a Neurologist where you live? They would be better in guiding you with help for that specific side effect. Blood thinners are not going to stop the tingling and I don't have a clue as to why it's only at night. Make sure you call Amgen and the governing body of drugs in your country. Amgen has a toll free number for about every country in the world now. You could also go to an Acupuncturist. I don't understand it in the least but I do know it and hypnotherapy both work very well with all Prolia problems. Be well~
Here is the title of the instructional video that Amgen prepared for National Osteoporosis Month: "Learn About the risk of Fracture Versus the Risk of RARE (my emphasis) Side Effects From Treatment ".
Poodle (# 2491) --
Hi and thanks for your input. I'm on blood thinner because I have Protein C Deficiency and have thromboses in my calf. Because both Prolia, Xarelto and Eliquis have given me bad side effects even though they are Rx for different problems. I have never had a fracture but the medicos threaten that I risk one if I stop Prolia. I absolutely refuse to have another shot and will change GPs again if necessary. Who knows what remarks they pass on to the next person who asks for my medical history. I did contact Amgen Aust and they said well, yes, these can be side effects but they are very rare and I could not possibly be one of those rare instances..REALLY? They asked for the name of my GP which I refused to give. Was I going to give them the name of the first guy who, when I reported my aching jaw soon after said that it was neuralgia without any check to see if this was so. Or did I give the second guy's name, the one who bullied me into taking it at least twice. Now on my third GP in 3 years, who thinks it's all in my head and who told my physiotherapist that I have no understanding of my health problems.
Re: Poodle (# 2500)
LOL. That is what is so very infuriating.
They ignore our complaints, then say they have never heard them before. Instead, they take input from Big Pharma,
knowing there is a financial interest.
Re: Marion (# 2501)
Welcome to the Prolia Club. As you can plainly see from thousands of posts since Prolia came out, it's NOT all in our 'heads'. It's REAL problems with our bodies and side effects from this poison. You are in charge of your body. They are not. All they can do is make suggestions. If any of the GP's are female, tell them to take Prolia and then tell you all about it first hand. You really need to get away from GP's in to Specialists. Do you have any Internal Medicine Specialists? They know a heck of a lot more than a GP does. Hope this helps and please find a Neurologist for those nerve pains you are experiencing. I know they are Prolia related due to previous posts here. Often times, really smart Docs check out this site on whether they should or should not use a medication. Hugs~

Marion, my husband has been on warfarin for 5 years now. Yes, it is a pain having to have your blood tested on a regular basis but it has been used for a lot longer than these new blood thinners and the specialist who my husband sees said that it has been proven effective for many, many years whereas the newer ones don't always give the same protection. Certainly they didn't with my husband. He had a stroke! he also had side effects from the newer one. Good luck with whatever you decide.
I took one shot of a Prolia and all my hair started falling out. I am now taking CBD oil that is supposed to strengthen bones and help regrow my hair.
Re: Judy (# 2516)
I had 4 bone grafts in the front and a total of 7 implants. All top teeth. My dentist thought it would take 8 months but it took a full year for them to set well.
Re: Judy (# 2514)
I had the bone graft and implants at the same time. It seems to me that they used too much bone graft as I can feel bone sticking out on the side of those two teeth. You maybe had more of a 'necrosis of the jaw' and that's why yours is taking longer. Hang in there Lady. You will be put back in beautiful condition before you know it. Also, no need to worry about implants. Just make sure to floss around them well. That 'flipper' is much better than the alternative. People look so tacky with front teeth missing. In the US its usually very poor people and homeless people. What money we do have saved up is quickly taken away from us. Also on Lawyers & Settlements there is some really good reading on what Prolia does to us. People have written in hoping that their case would lead to a class action suit. Be well~
I took Prolia around 18 months ago.my life has never been the same.started with vaginal infections mouth ulcers. I've since had laminectomy and spinal fusion.never had a days sickness in 80 yrs. I know for sure 'PROLIA 'is the cause. get any Dr to listen to you. they do not want to know or be involved in this fight over this poisonous drug.for shame !!!!! .
Re: Giralda (# 2527)
Your thyroid would rule it out. It has a huge effect on the thyroid glands. Now you know you are safe from Prolia. Be well~
