Prolia Side Effects (Page 55) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
I had my first shot of Prolia on the 31st of March. Six days later I am completely disabled, have lost at least 7 pounds, cannot eat, have horrible joint pain, muscular fatigue, inflammation of the skin on several parts of my body.... I wish I had never tried this medication.
You poor thing! It was the same for me. It's been two years or more, I still have nerve pain, intestinal problems, skin issues. I always had really nice skin b4 P. I thought I would try it....had no idea of such debilitating side effects.
Sal~I have that pain still to a small degree after being off of Prolia for a few years. I thought I was getting ONJ so I went to my dentist and he could see nothing wrong with my jaw but when he touched a certain muscle in there I about flew out of the chair. The best you can do for it is 'dry needling' which is based on acupuncture but done by a physical therapist. That should give you relief of that miserable problem. Hopefully you can find someone where you live. Be well~Pood
Kitty~ My back has already fractured in 4 places after stopping Prolia. By making Amgen put this on the label and advertising could cause women to not quit it for fear of the fractures. To me it looks to be a large win for Amgen as women will now be afraid to quit it even though it is causing them irreparable harm. Do you see where I am coming from here? Hugs~Pood
Tori,
It is a tough call, esp.with long term steroid use. I wish I had read the comments before agreeing to Prolia. It was unlike me to do so, but I was shocked and frightened.
Of course, now I regret the decision.
Five and a half months after my first prolix injection I was covered with a rash that drove my itchily nuts for weeks. My doc didn't think it was caused by the prolix, so he did the second injection at six months. Three months later I developed shingles. Endocrinologist says that the outbreak was due to prolia. BE VERY CAREFUL!
Maritere~for a Class Action Suit against Amgen, everyone has to have the same exact problems which we do not. Some get skin problems, others do not. I believe that those who have lost teeth from this drug would be done excellently on an individual basis. The only thing we ALL have in common is a compromised immune system. I was just at my Dentist's office and informed him of this forum and of all the people with teeth problems - Prolia strikes at the gum line and kills the root of the tooth. He was totally amazed. Some are lucky and find it early because it gets infected and they are able to save the tooth but if one has no pain or known tooth problems, then the tooth or teeth cannot be saved. We have one lady that has to have 7 implants so we are talking about a lot of money here. I advised her to get her own attorney and go for a 60/40 basis. If she loses, no money is taken from her. If she wins, the attorney gets 40% plus expenses and she gets the 60% less expenses. There is no money from Amgen for pain and suffering. Now that my dentist knows the cause, I believe I can contact a local attorney to get some money for the implants I will need. Now maybe you can understand why it will be so difficult to go against Amgen. I got a cataract from Prolia but how can I prove it since I am at the age where they are common. Also my DNA came out of hiding and Celiac Disease showed up. There is no physician that will say the two are related other than the fact I had never had it before. They just say that's in your DNA. I am hoping this will be read by all so we know what a huge up hill battle we will be facing. I hate to be a wet rag on people's hopes but those are the facts regarding Prolia. Be well~Pood
poodle not sure where you get your information. People do get shingles after a vaccine. NO vaccine is a guarantee. Vaccines have never been proven to be safe. Also it is recommended to get this vaccine at 60 not 50. Prolia compromises one's immune system and it is always recommended that a person with a compromised immune system not to get any vaccine. So being a nurse PLEASE consider the toxins in vaccines and putting those toxins in your system that is now depleted from Prolia.
a wee bit more info on it : It's approved for people as young as 50. The CDC recommends it for everyone 60 and older who doesn't have a medical reason to skip it.
Shingles is most common in people 50 or older, those who have medical conditions that keep the immune system from working properly, or people who take medicines that suppress the immune system. It does go on to say if you have a currently depressed immune system, skip it until you are well again.
Lifestyle changes while we figure out other meds and such to prevent falls:
Night lights
Remove scatter rugs

Osteo healthy diet

Support groups (this one!)
I would love to join - - I'm wondering if this can be proved - the thyroids. I've unearthed some minimal info that Prolia seems to alter PTH in what ways specifically how, I'm not sure. But I was one sick puppy, for sure. Would love to see some of us compensated for our money spent on trying to get well, let alone not die, and for pain and suffering as well.
Please include me in these scenarios. I too am loosing teeth. The bonelessness in my jaw adds to the implant cost and recovery time. I do not have a femur break. My constant bone and muscle pain is debilitating, my compromised immune system is ridiculous and my digestion and gastro/urine issues are humiliating. Rashes, healing time and muscle weakness create issues... and then memory fog is crazy bad. I'm 58 and I feel like I'm 100.
Keep me in the loop...
Let me know what I can do to help.

It could only be Prolia:
Loose and breaking teeth - and gum disease - getting implants
Bone loss around teeth
Autoimmune disorders (got diagnosis's of): Syjogrens disease/syndrome
IBS - gluten intolerant
Copd
Histamine overreaction
Other side effects I could list are many...
I was miserable for 6 months I had hives, my feet would hurt to the point of miserable, my fingers swelled and I had to get my wedding ring cut off. Never again
Linda- please get in touch with me. I am looking at scheduling 7 implants. I have listed my side effects many times here and can do the same. I want to see if I can get some help from an attorney. I called 2 bad drug attorneys but they were not yet involved with prolia.

Frankly, I am through with Big Pharma. Instead, a natural approach makes more sense. Save our Bones advises a dietary approach, eating an alkaline diet (foods that don't leech minerals from bones). In addition, exercises that contribute to bone growth, muscle growth, etc. In addition, safe, natural supplements.
Prolia is a poison drug it should not be on the market. But the doctors keep pushing that drug for the money. That drug is made from the ovaries of Hampstersits a bad drug many people have been in the hospital we should all get together and start a lawsuit Docters lie to their patients I got rid of my doctor he is a liar.
I too have Fibro and thyroid problems, and I am 69. I am DONE with Prolia, the side effects are worse than I ever experienced with Fibro or Myocardial Pain. Instead I am keeping my diet alkaline, doing resistance, Pilates and yoga, plus yoga for osteo.
Poodle, Continued good health to you.
Another cycle of joint pain has started. I have pain in joint a that never hurt before, such as ankles and toes. Apparently I do have some arthrits, but never experienced symptoms until Prolia. And what it is do I g to my bladder !! 20 plus years with Interstitial Cystitis and I never showed such high levels of white blood cells in my urine.
And don' t get me started on the weight gain....... I posted about this yesterday. I have gone up 2 sizes.
Again, good health, Poodle
Ever since my prolia injection I have had one viral infection after another. It is suspected that Prolia is the culprit as it can lower the immune system. I'll never allow this poison to be injected into me again. In my opinion, shame on our FDA for allowing this drug's approval!
