Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Poodle, I am going to Hong Kong not for leisure but for taking care of my mother she is 85. She need someone to live and cook and care for her for a period of time. That's why I am so worry that do I have energy to take care of her if I have problem myself. I can't tell her what is my problem now and would like to prosPone my trip as this would Scare her and my family members. In Canada I can go to see doctor to follow up. But in HK you will have to pay everything yourself.

As for my stomach, I feel ok if I take the Zantac. Should I need to take stomach scan as it may have a chance to get infection. Should I ask the doctor on that day or cancel the appointment now. I really don't want the sad story happened again as it happened 09/25/2015 Prolia inj. day. Now is Monday, Wednesday is the scanning date.

Canadian~ Call your doctor ASAP and get something for the Thrush. I waited too long and it is really out of control. My doctor prescribed Nystatin. It's a swish in your mouth and swallow. I waited about a week before I contacted him and it just keeps getting worse. It comes from the Prolia, steroids and antibiotics. I'm told that if I had gotten something sooner it wouldn't have gotten so out of control. My whole mouth and tongue are covered and it is very painful.

Keep me updated on the sauna. I'm still in so much pain that I'm afraid to try it. I'm on Day 63 so I'm hoping that things start improving soon. I discontinued my steroids as they didn't seem to be helping and the Thrush is so bad. It seems like if you find something that helps one thing, it starts a new problem.

Kathy, Thank you very much about the Nystatin. The doctor prescribed the Prolia injection will be seeing me this Friday. Let's see tomorrow if I can call her and ask for this medicine.

I did the Spa pool, after that I felt with energy. But the same night at sleep and next day, my skin more area were more dry and itching, something like a spider bite, or a needle hitting underneath your skin in your fingers, arms, body, legs, head. Would it be the warm water woke up the toxins stuff. So I did not go to the Spa and sauna again.
Should we ask the Amagn Doctor that the sauna or the Spa pool can help to reduce the poison.
As for my stomach, I decided not to go for the Scanning as I found my side effects are getting more worse.
Also, any one experienced blurred vision? Blurred vision in my right eye now. Will see eye doctor next week. I think I will have to postpone my flight after the 26 days. Why should we have to suffer all these? We are all good people. My Goodness!

The lesson is don't trust the doctor. Don't take medicine easily. The doctors are the sales person of the drug company. I have been very careful of taking drugs, but this time taking the injection is ruining my health so much and destroying my life so far. I cry almost everyday for the uncertainty.

Canadian - go to your eye Dr. ASAP. Prolia causes cataracts so very probable it can be the cause of your problem. Easy, fast and quick surgery with a nice new lens in there after the Prolia. YES! Tell every MD you go to that you are on Prolia and ask them to look up the side effects of this for themselves. They all need to be educated!

Whatever you do, do not continue to take Prolia. I have joint paint, bad acid
reflux two or three different rashes on legs and arms and they still want me to
continue to take this stuff. I have only been on it for 1 year and 3 shots did all
this to me. I will never take another Prolia shot because it is not worth all this
misery.

This Paolia is so strong that it attacks everywhere in your body. I don't know it is the cartract or retinal or macular problem? Just noticed the vision is getting blurred everyday. God blessed me!

Canadian~ I asked the pharmacist at Amgen. She looked it up and said that it would lower blood pressure but didn't know if it would do anything to get this out of your system faster. It was recommended to me by a lady at a health food/supplement store. If you are itching more than I wouldn't do it again. I'm guessing but I bet it is the toxins coming out. When in a sauna you sweat out the toxins in your body. It's supposed to cleanse your body of all toxins when you sweat. That's the part that kind of scared me. I was hoping that it would get the Prolia out of my system faster and it probably will but may make my problems worse for now. I don't think my jaw can handle any more pain right now. I will try it but I think I'm going to wait until the 90 days is over. According to the pharmacist at Amgen, you shouldn't get any NEW symptoms after 90 days. This crap must hit different parts of your body at different times. To start with my back and hips killed me. About a month after the shot my jaw has been intense pain. Thanks for letting me know about the sauna. I did notice my right eye was blurry for awhile after the shot but I don't seem to have any issues with it now. It still wouldn't hurt to go to your eye doctor. I wonder if Prolia was invented to keep ALL the doctors busy?!

I'm not sure I believe that person at Amgen. With Prolia anything can happen! They are still doing clinical studies which means even they don't have all the right answers. After the 3 month period was when I got my auto-immune disease. Everything they say I take 'with a grain of salt'.

I have a question to throw out there for everyone. It was suggested that this shot was supposed to be given in a certain way. I read online that it was to be refrigerated until it was given. My shot came from Caremark - my prescription company and it was given in my left arm. Where did everyone else's shot come from and how was it given? Maybe this has something to do with our side effects. Just a thought.

Kathy, what exactly do you mean by saying left arm? Was the skin pinched so the shot went in just under the skin or did the i**** stick the whole needle IN the muscle of that arm? Prolia is supposed to have pinched skin. Just take any place on your body and give it a good sized pinch so you can see how Prolia is inj'ed just under the skin. It's called subcutaneously and Prolia is to NEVER be inserted whole needle in the muscle of that arm. A good place to look is on the abdomen area as that's where I had to do many myself. If the skin were not pinched your Doctor did it totally wrong. This is not like a flu shot at all. Did you watch the Dr. do it??? If one were to not do the tummy correctly, it could puncture our insides. Side effects are far worse with an inj. not properly done. It gets into that muscle it stays for months on end and then goes up the neck and into the jaw area. That is horrible pain. Please explain more. There may be a video or diagram on the net. Don't know. Pood

I see a comment that Amgen said you "shouldn't" get more side effects after 90 days? Well, that definitely wasn't true for my poor dad. You can read my previous comments listed on this site but dad would have things pop up that he NEVER had before this shot in his whole life, then in a week or a so, something else would pop up. Might have even gone a month and then something else. Got the shot in August 2014 and kept getting more and more side effects off and on until he died in April 2015. Amgen needs to end their clinical study if it's true that what they are doing (they never told me that when I called them), but they simply need to read all the comments on this site and determine its a bad thing and be done with the clinical study. I have seen VERY few people who have posted how wonderful this drug works to slow down osteoporosis OR that say it made their bone scans show improvement in their bones. That's the purpose this drug is being given to many, for osteoporosis, but it obviously is doing more harm than good as far as the postings I see on here.

And, Kathy, I picked mine up at my pharmacy where it was in the refrigerator.I brought it home and put it right back into mine and had to wait a week for my Doc to be in town. I looked at the instructions with drawings of how to do it but it seemed over complicated to me so I let my Doc do it which was a bad idea considering the fact that I was stupid enough to believe my Doc. Both, my Primary Care and my Rheumatologist said they had never had a problem with Prolia before I came along which seems strange to me. Maybe some people can go through Prolia easily but for the life of me I cannot understand how as it's twin, Xgeva, is a chemo drug and just has more Prolia in it. Xgeva is for bone cancer and I'm going to check the net right now to see if it has much of a success rate. My family knows if I get cancer again, leave me alone. No more meds, chemo and radiation. Once was more than sufficient IMHO. Pood

I just had a Prolia shot a week ago today and I am very miserable,,went to the ER yesterday day afternoon per Doctor. I get chills then very hot, breathing problems and heartbeat flutters. I needed up in the ER yesterday afternoon with a blood pressure of 199/115, very low pulse and breathing was bad. They ran all kinds of test and all came back great. Pharmacist nurse came in a asked questions, left, came and said all the symptoms were related to the Prolia and she was contacting the company about this issue. Does anyone know how long these side effects last? I read six months,,I will not have the injection again that is for sure!!

I had a Prolia shot on January 20, 2015, I am still having problems. I have been taking 5mg Prednisone daily and it keeps me more or less comfortable. When I try to reduce the dose the pain and stiffness and blisters come back.
I wish I could give you better news. It really depends on the person. You may be okay in a few months or it could go on for a while.
This is a terrible poisonous drug. If you do have another injection the symptoms you are having could be much more severe the second time around. That is what happened to me. I have had two Prolia injections. My Dr said no more. Another could kill me.
Good luck, Carolyn

If you are still taking Prolia, get off of it. It causes itching, rashes can be as many
as 3 different kinds. Acid Reflux, muscle aches and dental problems. They will
try to convince you that you are being helped but it is just not true. I cannot
begin to tell you that I am just now starting to feel a little relieved since my
last shot in Feb 2015. I am never, never taking another shot of that medicine
because even the Amgen company that makes it, says that they are still getting
complaints about Prolia and by the way they are still running trial test on this
stupid stuff. It is a racket and doctors are making a killing off Prolia. I am finished and never intend to go back on it. You can take my word for it I have researched
and searched and have found a lot of complaints about Prolia. Not one person has
been successful taking Prolia. Most of the people that I found out last week
have developed basal cell carcinoma, which I have found a place on my chest
and it is that and I plan to have it removed in two weeks. It has already been
tested and that is what it came back as so that is another important reason that
I am not taking this anymore. It needs to be outlawed and removed from the
medicines for bones.

my pain and soreness around my ribs and waist has continually increased since my prolia inj. of 8.20/15. My shoulders and shoulder blades ache as they never have before. My gait is getting more and more unsteady, even though my PT and spine surgeon told me to walk everyday. I am afraid I might totally fall over. My energy level has also decreased with the walking - when it should indrease, and my legs feel like heavy weights when I walk. I have never had this problem before the injection. My insomnia was gotten no better - another side effect of the prolia and I am basically miserable.

Canadian~it says that any tingling around fingers, toes or mouth are a SERIOUS side effect of Prolia and need attention immediately. Go to ER since this is the weekend.
Apparently, from the side effects, your eye problem is not serious and is caused by Prolia. It causes blurry vision and cataracts. Cataracts take a long time to grow though. Hope this helps~Pood

Poodle, I told the Dr who prescribed me the Prolia injection 2 weeks ago, she said I was too nervous only. Now the tingling in the left toes and fingers happened sometimes. I don't know how to explain to the ER doctor. But the itching of the skin is happening during the day. Also, have the black rash spot spread in my face, body, leg and arms, hands. Those spots look like after the suntan, the aged black spot grows. In fact, I did not go out under the sun recently. I will see the other family doctor next Thursday and will show her my skin problem (I suspect that it may be the Melanoma), and will also tell her the Prolia side effects on me. These two day, my vision get blurred again, I hope it is not the tear of my retinal, I have abnormal dizziness last 2 days - it is connected to my eye? I don't exactly know. I will keep an eye on my vision or go to emergency to have my eye checked. Now, I am also talking the Rice Beverage enriched with calcium and Vita D and magnesium. Look like my stomach is working well with this beverage. Thanks Poodle.

Taking too much vitamin D is toxin, they are a fatty-solution element and will be stored in your body. The Dr asked me to take 3000 IU a day. Usually an adult only get 1000IU per day. If you take too much, will it my skin by growing the black spots i(melonama) in my body.
