Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

I am in month 5 and thought I was doing really well until I came down with a severe gut infection from our good friend Prolia. I asked my Dr. about a flu shot and he just ignored me which means no. Next week I go to the gastrointerologists and am taking my Prolia information with me so they will know what they are working against. I'm sure I'll be their first case so I want to have the truth printed in black and white for them to read. I'm sure they will find the infection and treat it accordingly. I curse the day I took that injection against my better judgment. Pood

Poodle, too bad to hear that you have the severe gut infection. This Prolia is horrible. . I have already lost 7 lbs in a month. Hope you and everyone here suffering with the side effects will be well very soon!

Canadian~Prolia does not cause melanoma. Melanoma is a very deadly form of skin cancer and a person usually lasts 1-2 months at the most with chemotherapy. Prolia causes basal cell carcinoma which needs to be looked at and taken care of but it's not going to kill you in a month or two. There is a very HUGE difference between these two types of skin cancer. I hope this helps your worrying. Be well~Pood

Canadian~Constant uncontrollable diarrhea even with prescription medication to stop it. It just appeared one day and has refused to leave. My Dr. tested it for bacteria, but, of course, none are present. I'm being sent to the IG specialists and have my Prolia side effects with me so they know what they are working against.
NOTICE TO ALL: I JUST READ ON AMGEN'S SITE THAT PROLIA WORKS IF ONE TAKES IT FOR 10 YEARS. Can you even begin to imagine 10 years of Prolia? Also Canadian, the basal cell carcinomas first appear as a slight whitish colored bump that eventually turns red and seemed to me to have an indentation in the center. It said if you get it, have it removed as it can eventually make its way to the bone beneath it. You can check out most of the side effects on Amgen's website under the drug Prolia and then do a search for what does …… look like? Be well all~Pood

I also do have several as you said whitish coloured bumps in my right leg and right arm. They are flatted in surface now. Still white coloured.

I asked my Psychiatrist today is temazepam is 'addicting' and he said no problem at all so that would be a good one for sleep since it is a sleeping pill and it comes in two different strengths that I know of.

Kathy~my blood pressure was very erratic in the beginning and then it finally settled down. I believe it was the first month was too high or too low. Just totally off the wall. I have a home device to take it and it is not correct but it has always been consistently incorrect. On the Prolia it was jumping all over the place so I knew it was the Prolia acting up. I'm glad the nurse at the hospital called to report it. I did too. Pood

I was told by my doctor that Temazepam is addicting and is in the Benzo family, i.e. Valium, Xanax, etc. I am currently on it but trying to taper off it, even though I have horrible Insomnia. The reason is I also take a small amount of Xanax with the Temazepam at bedtime and that's two benzos. I have only been on the Temazepam for about 2 1/2 months and I really don't think it helps me sleep at all - as I keep a sleep log and my sleep goes from 4-7 hrs. to no sleep at all with the same amount of medications. Think part of the problem is the Prolia!!

Ann, I asked my Psychiatrist yesterday: "Is Temazepam is addicting" and he said not at all! It's a very safe drug. Be well~Pood

thanks pood, but my primary care says just the opposite. It is good for a 2-3 week max. of insomnia and then one should go off of it because it is addicting. In al reality, I really don't think it helps me get to sleep and stay asleep for the time that I do get......I think it is the very mild .25 dose of Xanax along with 10 mg. melatonin

Ann if you think the tomazapam does not work, try changing to something different. You will see that it really does work! I was on Tomazapam and my insurance made me change and what a difference! I want my tomazapam back, I want to sleep!

Victoria~not all medications are the same for all people. Temazepam works for you and me but it sure could not work for someone else. Just like some people in this world can tolerate Prolia while others cannot. There is a newer sleep medication on the market and I asked to try it. I got one whole hour of sleep so that ended that experiment and went back to the same old ones that we know work well. Be well all~Pood

I had a prolia injection in March and shortly after wards developed a pain in my right hip. This made climbing stairs etc painful and then I noticed similar problems with my left hip. I now have what appears to be a frozen left shoulder with which I am in constant pain and concerned that this will spread to my right shoulder as I'm having twinges of pain here too. I had ME many years ago and suspect I have a problem with my immune system .I refused to take my 2nd injection and bitterly regret having started on this nasty drug. This drug does not suit everyone and I was not offered any information on it before being given it.I am particularly concerned that my symptoms are getting worse yet it is over 6 months since the prolia injection. I would be interested to hear from anyone with similar experiences.

Went to see the doctor who prescribed the Prolia injection again and also visited another doctor (she also give the drug to her patients) that telling her my skin problem and the uncomfortable feeling that I am having, numbness in toes, fingers, itching in the skins etc. Both of them said it should not be related to the Prolia as their patients are doing fine with the Prolia. I said I got all these right after the injection as before my skin and health was pretty good. No help was given by them - seems like I have to cure myself by trying our own way. Quite hurting after seeing all these doctors.

Taking Ddrop vitamin D3 (non-medicinal ingredient: fractionated coconut oil) - good for the skin infection and inflammation? Anyone try this before and any experiences?

I had my last Prolia injection in January. I have been able to keep the symptoms in check with low dose Prednisone.
I am currently three days in on a month long vacation in Europe. The blistering rash and stiffness started again today. I am just about at the end of my rope. I think that stress has got the symptoms going again. I am just plain miserable. I can't walk very far, can't sleep and I am really stuck. I may have to fly home if nothing improves .
Prolia is a horrible drug. It has made an old women out of me. I'm 70. Nothing ever slowed me down until now. I just want to curl up and die.

Carolyn: I feel extremely bad for you and I know exactly what you're going through. That's exactly how things went for my dad from the time he got the infusion in August until he died in April the next year. He had flair ups of things he'd never had before in his life starting the day after he got the infusion and each new day another problem would pop up. He would go for about a week with no new side effects (just dealing with the ones that had happened) and I would only hope that was the end to the side effects and I would hold my breath and then all of a sudden more problems would crop up. I'm not saying this is a timed release drug but I sure am saying that's how it seemed to work with my dad. So sad. My heart aches every day thinking of all he went through. I will think of you every day. Dad barely ever walked on his own again in his life starting the next day after the infusion. I have previous stories on here starting in October if you would like to read them. Best of luck.

Victoria~ Price Temazepam without insurance. You will find it is really quite cheap. I fail to understand why insurance companies believe it is an expensive medication. Forget what insurance pays for and pay for it yourself. I promise, it is not expensive in the least. My Medicare Part D has it listed as a Tier 4 drug and that means really expensive. I buy it myself and it's about $15. Call your pharmacy and ask and you will find out I'm correct. Be well~

Yes, Elizabeth. Prolia does tamper with the immune system. I have had severe infections from it and also an autoimmune disease that's new with Prolia. If you had something in remission, it will once again present itself when you are on Prolia.
Be well~Pood
