I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Does anyone know drinking almond milk can replaces calcium tablet? 4 cups x 250 ml per day. Taken too much calcium tables will hurt our heart.
Hi Poodie, do you know?

Also, should we be aware of our high blood pressure once you quit the injection. This Paolia is really a dangerous drug and should not be used for most patients.

Also, be aware of our high blood pressure once we quit the injection. I think it keeps our blood pressure low when you taking it. What should we do if high blood pressure shows as I don't need to take medical for that before.

Dr. told me to take 600 mg twice/day with meals. They also include 1,000 IU's of Vit. D. Because of the Prolia, I had upped my calcium but no more. I'm back down to 600's. I will have to have a complete physical exam soon AGAIN for surgery so he will know what my blood pressure is. With Prolia anything is possible and thank you so much for telling me so we can be on the watch for it. One can tell when the calcium is insufficient as that is when the Prolia seems to make muscle cramps and I still take Magnesium tablets too. When Prolia is not getting the calcium it wants, it will take it from your muscles as the human body is unable to 'store' calcium and Vit. D. I will be taking this amount for the remainder of my life because there will be no more Prolia.

I wonder my doctor asked me just to take 4 cups of almond milk and 3,000 IU Vit D per day. She said my Vit D is very low just 50, so I have to take 1,000 UI Vit D more.

I am a new victim, just got the shot on Sept 25, 2015. Actually my spine is -2.83; my neck and hip is only -.96 aprox. I don't know why my doctor asked me to take the injection and I am so stupid listened to her. I think I just need to have more Vit D or take the Fosavance 70/5600.

Now, I have some side effect like: itching and numbness in two hands and fingers, toes and sometimes in the right arm. The injection went into my right tummy. I am sad and worry about my health now and don't know how deep is the damage would be.

Hi Poodle, if the Paoliai is out from our system, why should we need to take the calcium and Vit D for rest of our life. Can we go back to our normal life just do exercises and taking the vitamins from natural foods.

Do you know the Spa pool can reduce the poison from our body? High blood pressure is another dangerous situation we should be aware of.

If you are taking Crestor, I was told it's going generic very, very soon. Ask your pharmacy to keep an eye out on it for you. One of my family members takes it and is thrilled at knowing a generic will soon be out. Also, that's something else Prolia does. It can easily cause high cholesterol so if you had it before you may really get it now so keep in close contact with your Doc about it. I would have it checked very month. Personally, I don't believe 5mg of Pred to be a bad dose to be on if it keeps you comfortable. Take it for close the start of the 5th month. Your body will let you know if you are feeling human again and then taper s-l-o-w-l-y. Let your body be in charge. Going off of Pred too fast can cause DVT's and PE's. Be well~Pood

how long has your sleeplessness/insomnia lasted? I got the prolia inj. on 8/20/15 and almost immediately began the insomnia - when I always slept 7-8 hrs. per night with no problems or pills. I am 75 years old and have had 4 lumbar and thoracic kyphoplastys. I only get 4-5 hrs. sleep per night now and that is with the aid of .25 mg. Xanax and 15 mg. temazepan. I am at my wits end!!

Anne, I have passed month 5 and going into month 6. Insomnia is still there and I still take the sleep meds from a Psychiatrist. It may disappear at the end of 6 or maybe I'll have to wait until the full 11 are up. Ones gets soooooo tired we cannot stand it, but no sleep. It's like Prolia keeps the mind on OverDrive. Sorry! That's how it's been for me and I thank God for that man that gives me a great night's sleep. He does a combination of meds and I have zero hangover effect in the mornings. Bright and alert.

I sure hope you're all screaming at your doctors, the FDA and Amgen! I did. But its gonna take an Army and a bunch of ornery people to get this drug off the market. Keep on contacting them. The drug reps are NOT telling the doctors the right info OR the doctors are not telling patients. One or the other. It's gotta stop. So disgusted.

I am on day 58 of the shot from hell. My jaw is extremely painful. I had a bone scan that stated that I had periodontal disease. I have gone to the same dentist for 40 years. I went in and saw him today and they were furious that it was even suggested that I had periodontal disease without looking in my mouth. He took several xrays of different teeth that have been bothering me. He found nothing wrong so it HAS to be my jaw. It's killing me! It's like having major toothaches plus earaches. I started taking 10mg twice a day of steroids to see if that would help. I have another Dr appt with my GP next week. I need to discuss how we are going to treat this until it gets out of my system. My jaw is my worst issue at this point and it is severe.
Canadian - I was into a natural food store. The lady in there suggested saunas to get the toxins out of your system. I was going to do that but I'm a little afraid that the toxins coming out will put me in more pain right now. I'm definitely going to try it but I think I'll wait until my 90 days are up. According to Amgen things should start calming down after 90 days. I am counting down my 32 days as I'm miserable!

poodle
what kind of sleep meds and other meds are you getting from your psychiatrist? I'm about ready to pack it all in.

Kathy~you are not going to believe this. Mirtazapine which is actually an anti-depressant but it makes people sleepy, Valium, Tizanidine which will have you sound asleep in 10 minutes or less, and Temazepam which is an actual sleeping pill. If I happen to wake up in the middle of the night or 4am, we start it all over again except for the Mirtazapine as too much of it is really bad for the liver. Also Tiz helps for muscle cramps too as it's what people with MD or MS take too. It just happens to be very sedative. I am allowed 2 of those also in the day time when the muscles in my back start bugging me. There's a limit of 7 per day. That's what I mean about Psychiatrists working very differently from regular doctors. They find what works and then they continue it. In the beginning it's a little experimentation but mine are sufficient to put down a cow or a horse. I wake up in the morning feeling great with no hangover effect at all. I highly recommend this for people with the Prolia insomnia. He just smiles and says: We do what works for our patients. Wish they all had that attitude.

Poodle~ I take Alprazolam and it does help me sleep. It's for anxiety. I don't sleep like I used to but I get a good 5-6 hours of sleep and I can live with that. My jaw is my issue. Sometimes the pain is unbearable. I also have Thrush in my mouth that I guess a lot of people get when they are on chemo and taking steroids and antibiotics. My dentist said there are so many nerves in your jaw, neck, mouth. My teeth quit hurting when I lay down for awhile but start back up as soon as I start moving around. If I could just get my jaw to quit hurting, I can live with the rest. I got some rinse for the Thrush and I was told that yogurt or a probiotic would help the Thrush. I have an appt with my Dr on Wednesday to go over my medications and I want him to do some blood work on me. I think he finally has to admit this is the Prolia. I have covered all my bases and I don't know what else I can do. I'm going to ask about a pain shot for my jaw. It helped with my hips but I want to know the ongoing issues before I do it and I'm not sure they can do a pain shot in your jaw but I'm going to ask. At this point it really can't hurt any more than it does.

Another question - what do they mean when they talk about the half life of Prolia? I had talked to a pharmacist at Amgen and I didn't quite understand the half life part. Can you explain in English instead of medical speak?

Hi Kathy, thank you for your info about saunas that may be able to get rid of some toxins from our body. I will try it as we have a sauna room installed in our townhouse complex. I hope by sweating, the toxin things will be coming out thought our skin.

Hi Poodle, thank you very much for all your info and advices about Creator etc. Much appreciated!

I am from Toronto. Canada. I am very worry about my high blood pressure and high cholesterol level now and after. Feeling quite sad and depressed sometimes!

Kathy`in plain English' there is no end to a half life. It goes into infinity meaning forever with no end except death for mammals. With the Prolia, Amgen said the half life was 26 days, so that should indicate that 1/2 of the Prolia has been deleted by the body on the 26th day after the injection. It's horribly untrue as we know that just from me, and others here the Prolia is HELL for months on end. Toward the beginning of the 5th month I got a lot better, some others did not. The Prolia is supposed to be totally deleted from our bodies by 6-11 months, depending on our body they say. There will ALWAYS be a molecule or two of Prolia in our body because it has a half life so it can never really totally end even though we feel wonderful and the world is great again. The only way a half life ends with mammals is death as there is no longer any living tissue. MD's like to view this a little differently but what I am telling you is the 100% truth scientifically and mathematically. Go ask any Physicist about half lives or even a good math teacher and you will get exactly what I wrote. All drugs (chemical or bio-engineered) have half lives. Pood

And I'd like to add to Poodle's information on the half life, this is what a pharmacist from the FDA told me. Yes, the drug has a half life as all drugs do and yes, the drug should diminish to almost nothing (at some point), length can be different for everyone depending on your own body, however, the side effects can still be with you for much longer depending on what Prolia did to the body while it was in you!! The side effects are what may effect you the rest of your life. For me, the pharmacist at the FDA gave me the most information. I felt that the "salesmen and saleswomen" at Amgen are exactly that. For me they turned my story around and made it out to be the way they wanted it to be. I ended up hanging up on them because they refused to listen and interrupted me nonstop. I'm pressing on with my venture to my state rep to get the procedures changed as far as side effects being reported (making it mandatory that the doctors must report side effects and not have it voluntary by people like you and I), mandatory follow up by the doctor to the patient within a stipulated amount of time of receiving drugs like Prolia, and making it mandatory that when we go to the doctor they MUST enter any drugs that we are on into a Drug Interaction program (there are many online) and inform the patient of the problems they might have when being on those particular drugs. I feel that SOME doctors don't really know how different drugs interact with each other or sometimes they don't take time to research it. They simply give you a new drug, take you off this one and give you that one, etc and meanwhile people can develop horrible health issues from those drugs alone or interacting with each other, some of those health issues can't be reversed once they happen. We need to stay as healthy as we can without drugs if we want a longer life with as much quality as is possible.

I am going to have stomach scan in the hospital next week. I am afraid I may have infection after this since the Prolia is in my body on 12 days. Should I go ahead? Does anyone have experience? I need advice. Sorry

Half lives is also how we do carbon dating to know for about sure how old something is. It turns to carbon and then a half life is 5,426 years, and then another half life is another 5426 years ad nauseum. Then, Bingo! No more change is noted so we know exactly how old something is. I don't know if Amgen used blood as a half life or if they used actual tissue as a half life and I seriously doubt they will tell us as it's probably a patented 'secret'. If they used blood, then it gets to a static level where product (drug) is functioning as it should and will eventually decrease over time. I seriously doubt our Doctors have no clue as to what Amgen has been doing. Just told it's a great product. Builds up bones so no more fractures for the patients. They admit to very serious side effects, but your patients won't get them. They are really quite rare. RARE INDEED!! What do they NOT admit about side effects as this is still a new drug is a very good question. There are now 2 of us with autoimmune diseases caused by Prolia. Thankfully, I got the lesser one. I was sharing all the immune tampering and causing infections with my bone surgeon and his big blue eyes just got bigger and bigger and bigger. Anyway, surgery appointment set tentatively Praise the Lord go get rid of this hip and get a nice new one. Pood
