Prolia Side Effects (Page 27) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Prolia, as I have stated so many times, has been a nightmare for me. The side effects are horrible, and I am still suffering from some of the side effects. Hair loss, skin problems, muscle and joint pain, vertigo and has had several falls due to the vertigo. Never had any of these problems before the deadly drug, Prolia. The same drug, as of 2012, is now being used for CANCER patients. As I stated before, the side effects for me and many others has been horrible, it has been poison for me. Wish I had been aware, before I ever took the first shot. I trusted my doctor, life altering mistake. I hope this post helps others.
Re: Gloria (# 2803)
I am glad that you continue to report your ongoing battle with Prolia side effects. All who have suffered with this drug should continue to reiterate the dreadful and unexpected side effects we have experienced. As I type this response I am brushing out the strands of hair ( with follicle) falling into the keyboard. It has been a year and one half since my last shot. Rashes, hair loss, jaw pain, and mouth infections continue. We need to keep reporting to each other.
Re: Susanna (# 2815)
I read on this post, sorry, but I don't remember where to find it again, that someone on here, said that their doctor agreed with them regarding the effects she was suffering from Prolia. The message from me, is the next time any doctor tells anyone of us that they agree about Prolia causing the various side effects......GET IT IN WRITING, MAKE SURE IT'S IN YOUR CHART, HAVE A WITNESS! Without it's being in writing or being witnessed, it's practically useless. The doctor can always say he never said that. You're luckier than I am. All the doctors I talk to, appear to be covering for the medication. Wonder who they're taking care of, Amgen or me.
Re: Susanna (# 2816)
Thanks for your comments and yes it is myself who indicated the doctor’s I have been dealing with have actually charted that Prolia has created my problems.
Re: Dawn (# 2821)
I think the proof has to be in the numbers. We have reported to FDA-- how many people can we get to report to FDA? If the FDA and Amgen have consistent large numbers of people reporting problems, it has to eventually weigh against the drug. Is there a way we can determine how many people on this site have reported their side effects to FDA? We can chat with doctors all we want and they can just deny and deny the link to Prolia.
Re: Marion (# 2825)
This seems to be their official line everywhere. "Perhaps it's just your imagination, dearie? No-one else has ever complained." I hope they recorded it formally as an adverse events report.
I think they are about to be swamped with official complaints!
Re: Judy (# 2838)
I am in agreement with you and Karen. Of course Osteoarthritis didn’t suddenly appear due to Prolia, but until Prolia I had no pain and only slight disfigurement; since Prolia, the pain has been excruciating, my joints, especially wrists, hands, fingers and toes disfigured. My previously well controlled hypothyroidism became uncontrollable.
It only came controlled 6 months ago and my last shot was in 2017. BTW my thyroid came under control when I went gluten free. Within a short time after my first shot I developed hypocalcemia and hyperparathyroidism, both dangerous conditions; yet a foolishly took a second shot. This is so unlike me, but I was scared. I had fractures in my thoracic spine and was afraid of being bent over. Now I am empowered and am taking charge of my bone health. I know I have posted this many times, but I advise everyone to subscribe to Save Our Bones for dietary advice and general info about Big Pharma. Since I am unable to tolerate strenuous exercise I do TTAPP, and Classical Stretch by Miranda Edmonds White.
There is also Yoga for Osteoporosis by Dr Loren Fishman. He is located in New York City for anyone interested in a consultation.
Re: Karen Wadman (# 2839)
I looked up reclass insertion and could not find information on it. What is it. The only thing I found is another infusion of a drug Reclast which is also bad. Please advise.
Re: Dawn (# 2845)
That is the drug, Reclast. I keep going by sounds like as I have not received any written orders yet to have this treatment. I have decided that it is a bad idea. One doctor advised it a new one that I just started to go to when I had the thyroid problem and my last doctor who had put me on Prolia. She did not recommend this Reclast.
Re: Lizzie (# 2855)
Well said, Jude! They just blindly follow. This is reminiscent of all the Dr’s who blindly believed the drug companies claim that the pain drugs were not addictive.
Hi. I had early menopause and so, have developed osteoporosis. At age 40, I was told I would never have to worry about my bones. Ha! Shows what docs know. Anyway, I take quite a few supplements, including strontium. Strontium is considered safe and therapeutic for bone weakening. At one time, I used a weight best which has proven to help with strengthening the bones of the spine. I have not had a bone scan in 6 years. I don't know my status but I don't hurt. Docs are always surprised that I don't have back pain. I feel so upset that so many people are pushed into taking this medicine/poison. I feel sad for those of you who are struggling. Please do all women a favor and send your report on the effects of this stuff to the FDA. They are the only ones who can put a stop to this insanity!
Prolia is a horrible and deadly drug. It should be taken off the market, but so much money being made, drug companies do not care nor the FDA. It was a terrible drug for me and has changed my life, and not sure I will ever be the same. There are more negative reviews than positive ones. I label it as POISON!
Re: Cln (# 2857)
This drug is poison, as are all the others. There are natural remedies such as a more alkaline diet and exercise. Since there is so much money to be made, it is not about to be taken off the market; nor do we have any recourse due to our current “buyer beware” environment. There was a class action suit against the maker of Fosamax, it went to the Supreme Court, and guess what: they ruled in favor of the drug company. We must educate ourselves and be our own advocates, this is crucial. As someone who learned the hard way (because I allowed myself to be scared into taking this poison): be armed with as much information as possible. There are some informative sites to get you started: Save Our Bones, and Better Bones Blog. Both sites present up to date information, and information regarding foods that are bone sparing; plus information about exercises that can strengthen bones. Good health to you.
Re: Karen Wadman (# 2860)
Today I read in Save Our Bones that the European equivalent of the FDA rejected Amgen’s new Osteoporosis drug Eventy. The drug was declared unsafe due to its risk of cardiovascular event. Note: our FDA approved this drug in 2018
Re: Sal (# 2873)
It takes time? Or does it take a century? Sorry, but it feels like it "becomes" part of one's body!!
I can't believe this drug is still being used and that people are not reading what we say and becoming very worried to ever start using it!! Why can't we all get together and find a law firm to represent us? It's very costly trying to feel better when stuck with the effects!
Re: Karen (# 2890)
I understand totally. I have had all kinds of adverse effects and I am almost 6 months post-injection. I am going to work to organize a class-action suit in Canada and though I know it will be difficult I will make enough noise to have those who created, sold, prescribed and approved sit up and listen and maybe if it affects their reputation maybe then this stupidity will stop. I just need to feel a little better in between the reactions. If possible but I have 2 years to get this on record and can assure you unless I die first from this I will. I also have some proof in writing that Prolia has caused my general health to deteriorate.
Re: Dawn (# 2898)
In my efforts to educate people about Prolia I have often referred to this chat group, usually they say : “. But my doctor says I should take it “. How do we counter this ?
I myself became scared, and agreed to take it. The fact is, I always said that I would never take this, or any of these drugs, yet my emotions took over. There must be much more education. It wasn’t until after I experienced terrible side effects that I found not only this site and educational sites such as Save our Bones and Better Bones Blog.
It is hard to fight the big boys, i.e. Big Pharma., but I will never give up.
Re: Judy (# 2903)
I think you have hit on something. I believe that Prolia somehow affects the immune system. But how to get the word out ? No one is going to get the word out.
Perhaps at Sve Our Bones ,the founder is a professional in nutritional science and healed her own Osteoporosis. She regularly researches and posts the latest information about Osteoporosis and about Big Pharma.
Re: Ros (# 2911)
It might be a good idea to have your calcium level check.. Prolia lowers calcium level in the body causing pain and tightness.
Re: Ros (# 2911)
I also have had a change in quality of life and live with extreme pain in my joints everyday. I had one injection only and 6 months later am dealing with issues. This is the worst thing I have experienced and I have been through a lot. I have exercises that I and which without I could not function.
