Prolia Side Effects (Page 157) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
I just started on prolia, and only read negative things about the drug. Is there anyone has had a positive outcome? The clinical trials show positive results and my GP said she has 300 patients on it with no side effects. There must be some who respond well.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
I wanted to let the people who are having bone issues, after the Prolia shot some information. My dear sister-in-law gave me some vitamins after the ring finger on my left hand was drooping down into the palm of my hand and I could not move it up straight. I was in so much pain with both hands for weeks before and they had both swelled up like a baseball. I had the shots for 2 1/2 years or more and I stopped them because there were no changes in my bone scan and I was having multiple problems and I still am. The vitamin that has helped me is Arthrozene. My sister-in-law purchased this on line. I have no idea if it will help all but it is worth a try. Karen Wadman
Re: Darcy (# 3120)
There is a program called Save Our Bones. You might want to look at what it offers. I bought it but haven't gone through the program yet. Here's the link if you or anyone else is interested: https://saveourbones.com/
Re: Karen KK (# 3122)
Hi Karen,
From what I heard it can make a difference if thyroid meds are synthetic, some people don't react well to it. The thyroid is so important. I hope you can find a solution for regulating it.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
I’ve been on this for about 6/7 yrs and I have never had any side affects. I must be one of the lucky ones, thank the Lord.
Out of all the people who have written to describe their concerns about Prolia, I’m curious to know how many were already dealing with arthritis. Any information would be welcome.
I had one Prolia injection and my teeth started breaking at the gum line. It was horrible. I no long have any of my natural teeth. Dentures were awful too, so I now have a mouth full of dental implants that are very expensive. Wish someone had told me before I took Prolia.
I posted today and said i had been on prolia a week on the 17th august ..i meant to say a week on this injection a week 24th august ..sorry JK:R
I had my first Prolia injection in July, 2011. I have had no side effects that I can tell at all. I have osteoporosis, and was on Forteo for 2 years. The Forteo didn't do that much to correct the osteoporosis, and I needed something else. My endo didn't want me on Boniva, or any of the others, but did recommend Prolia. I hope it helps my bones, but haven't had the followup scan to see yet. I suspect the dr. will want to wait a year at least for that to see.
Hi Irene,
A tip for taking the Strontium Citrate is you aren't supposed to be taking it with milk products, so many people leave it on the bedside and take it in the middle of the night. I am usually up at least once to go to the bathroom and take it then.

It seems to me that if you are a perfectly healthy person with no real major health concerns, Prolia will definitely work for you. Some of the problems that people are experiencing would have happened anyhow and are no fault of the Prolia. I just attended an Osteoporosis workshop and Prolia was the drug of choice for all - with minimal side effects - almost like the placebo. Don't listen to all of the horror stories that are being posted. And to say that a drug has to be around for 20 years before it should be taken is silly. How would we know if no one took the drug. You have to use your own judgement and listen to your doctor. The internet can be a dangerous tool.
• Reluctant to take it but under advisement of my GP, bone specialist, and the Prolia help line, paid for and took the shot Nov. 8, 2011
• The effect has been devastating and shows no sign of abatement after 14 months.
• Four days after the shot I experienced extreme discomfort, swelling of my legs and ankles, ache and stiffness in my legs, feet and back, fatigue, and lack of balance.
• Have lost my mobility almost completely and am in pain whenever I move.
• Shortly thereafter further problems which now include frequent urination, nausea, tingling in my feet and legs, and continued swelling and redness in my feet and ankles.
• Described my problems to the Prolia promotion people when they called and asked them to relay the message to Health Canada. Not likely reported since they called at the six month mark to tell me it was time for the second shot.
• When I said I would not even consider taking another shot, they have not called back
Yes, I burned the roof of my mouth on something hot and it took around 5 days to heal. Normal time ...one day.
I had prolia 5 weeks have pain in bones daily but not as bad as was, so feeling positive & a lot better
I only can to tell to those victims of Prolia, I am in the same bote, if I tell you how I feel I would not finish this afternoon, the only thing I will say is this: Never ever I have being so meserable, I have all those side efects that are discribed in all those comments and much more, only my feith in God keep me alive, this is no life what I am living
my creatinin levels went up because of pain meds, my dr.took me off them and told me to drink 24 ounces of water a day. I passed next test and then got first shot of Prolia 4 days ago and haven't noticed any problems so far but don't know if I will.
I got my 3 rd. injection yesterday 5/18/14 just got the results of my last bone scan from 2 weeks ago and have had an average of 10 % bone mass increase.. the drug is working for me. yes there are side affects, some have worse than others. I argued with my endocrinologist for months before I agreed to try it.. yes.. I do have stomach cramps and bloating for a short time after the injection..
good luck to you
have you tried Miralax? It is the ONLY product that I have found to help and my specialist says if need be to use it 2 times a day.
Good luck to you and God Bless
Judy
