Prolia Side Effects (Page 143) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Hi Hazlat,I took 7 Prolia shots, they were horrible for me, I was not told any of the side effects before getting the shots. Prolia has been a nightmare for me! My last shot was in 2015, and I am still suffering from the side effects. I have reported it a number of times to the FDA! Nothing being done that I knowof.
I'm reposting this after burying it away in the relatively inactive 'skin rash' thread a couple of weeks ago. Once again the rash seems to be subsiding, but it's probably a forlorn hope.
This rash plays cruel tricks!
It is 9 months since my first injection, 3 months since the second (and last). I occasionally feel as though it is gradually dissipating, but each time it bounces back with renewed intensity.
Today I woke up with huge purple blotches on my face, as well as a fiery red chest and itching and stinging all over.
After a busy and active day yesterday, I am a miserable couch potato, muttering obscenities today.
My GP prescribed Novasone lotion four months ago and my skin lapped it up. It pretty much saved my sanity. However, the generous prescription allowed me to use it for too long. Now I have a secondary set of side-effects, seemingly centered on my face. Massive itching, horrible flaring of previously minor rosacea, hot facial flushes (its summer here!). Now I am trying to get by with coal tar and menthol cream which helps to a very small degree. I just don't have the courage to use Prednisone or to use Novasone at the worst times.
The cyclical nature of this thing, due to the half-life issue, is particularly nasty.

My friend told me that the hospital listed a cancerous growth as the cause of death.
Luckily I did not let my dad had the shot after reading all the horrendous side effects. I had a argument with the endocrinologist who wanted to prescribe the drug for my dad. And she played scare tactics.
Re: Gloria (# 2300)
Thanks, i have now refused to have it and am having Pamidronate infusions instead...i looked up all the side effects and came on here before deciding against Prolia , so pleased i did.
Re: Marilyn (# 2306)
Yes, please ask your doctor, and in the meantime Google "Prolia rebound effect".
It means that we can actually become worse off than before starting on Prolia! It's important to know this before deciding what to do next.

I am taking my chances. 2 shots were too much for me.
At present all my numbers are excellent; and I am doing my best to keep them that way with lifestyle changes.
Re: Marilyn (# 2306)
I got one in my back shortly after stopping my one and only injection of Prolia. That is supposedly the 'normal' place for the fracture to happen after stopping this drug.
Re: Edie (# 2311)
What is with these medicos that they refuse to believe the obvious truth about this poison they bully us to take. Our previous GP gave an injection to my husband without any test to see what his Bone Density is. Our current GP was horrified. I refuse to take any more of this stuff
I was told by my consultant not to believe all you read on the internet..i still said no thanks after reading your comments
Re: Hazlat (# 2316)
You are absolutely right.

I only took one shot and I thought it was going to kill me. I never took another one. I recently has a fracture of the Sacrum and now I have a fractured rib. My family dr. told me I would have to be in an automobile accident to fracture my sacrum. He didn't believe me so I went to an internist. He told me Prolia was a wonderful medicine. Doctors just won't believe you. I am 76 years old and never had any kind of fracture before and was never told I had osteoporosis.

How long ago did you take your shot, and what were you side effects? Thanks for sharing.
I am looking for people who are dialysing and have received a prolia injection. I have read that you must drink 2 liters of water and it is for cancer patients. But if dialysis patient does not urinate where goes the poison. I want to know if people have died from the Prolia.

My friend's dad died within 3 months. Please refer to post 2296.
Re: Billie (# 2323)
I have Pamidronate infusions for Osteoporosis as i have 5 fractured vertebrae , it is great with just mild headache / flu symptons for 48 hrs after the infusion. It has allowed me out if a wheelchair to an almost..not quite.. normal life as it has pain killing properties. You have to fighr for it though.as it is used for bone cancer .i refused Prolia injections after coming on this forum. This drughas turned my life around
Hi, I had 7 injections of Prolia for osteopenia on the advise of my doctor. The worst mistake I ever made. The drug has horrible side effects that I did not research before the injections. I have experienced almost all of the side effects of this drug. Aches, joint pain all over my body. Stomach problems got worst, vertigo, have had 4 falls since I took Porlia. My body was strong, I tolerated 7 injections before the effects became unbearable so I started my research. My last injection was 2015, and I am still suffering from the side effects. There are more negative reviews on line than positive. I have report is to the FDA and Amen, the drug company that makes it. They are now using it for bone cancer patient, and except for that it should be taken off the market. I would not recommend that you take it, as I said it was horrible for me. I hope this helps.

Yes, I was told that yesterday by my female bone health doctor. Scary.

There is a class action suit against Amgen for those with a broken femur thru no fault of their own. All one has to do is step on it and it breaks in two at the thigh bone. You may want to tell your father. Be well~
I would actually be willing to start a a class action suite against the makers of Prolia! I lost my complete full permanent bridge because I followed my doctors recommendation to take the Prolia injection. I am now having bone and tissue grafting in my lower gums. I had to have my original implants removed , new implants put in and wear a denture. Now the bone continues to be lost and I have to go with no teeth in the bottom to see how this grafting works, so much pain and money invested!!
My husband used to work for an attorney who is also a friend, who is willing to help!
Re: Hazlat (# 2340)
I am pleased as well. I cannot believe that I allowed myself to be talked into taking this drug. Unfortunately I was scared and that made me vulnerable. Wish I had known about this site beforehand.
