Prolia Side Effects (Page 122) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
I had my first and only Prolia shot in November 2016 and, instead of helping my osteoporosis, it has all but crippled me. I have severe injuries from a car accident in the '50's and the crap from the injection seems to have gone to those weaker areas and have cause jabbing nerve pains in my lower back, into the groin area and into my right thigh. Am presently seeing my awesome chiropractor who is using a process to help reduce the inflammation, but no adjustments as the osteo has progressed. I do feel somewhat better and am also waiting for the 6 months to get here to hopefully feel like I did before the injection. My regrets is the doctor or pharmicist didn't alert me to the possible side effects. Hang in there Gals. They say it can't get anything but better. I was advised to file a class action suit against Prolia. Has anyone else thought of this?
Yes I would like to know how we should do this I've been thinking about this for my mother but not sure how to go about this. I feel one should be started also
I am 79 years young with a compound back fracture from a car accident in the '50's. Since developing osteo, my Endocrinologist thought I should do the Prolia shots to strengthen. Wrong move for me. I have trouble standing/sitting down due to sharp pulling in groin area, radiating down thigh. Nothing else but warm compresses and occasional pain meds. Awful stuff and a ripoff as so expensive. How can this be gotten off the list of "preventatives"?
My mom ended up in the hospital because of the extreme pain and they center to the pain clinic and they gave her an injection of numbing medicine. It's not a steroid it's just numbing and that really helped
please do not take this injection !!! IT HAS CAUSED ME AN EPIRETINAL TEAR, POOR VISION PENDING SURGERY FOR SAME ! Teeth problems ensued from PROLIA. Back problems and all the other complaints written on this board for years are all true !!! DO NOT USE THIS DRUG !!!!!
Doris~I have noticed many ladies are signing on with Lawyers and Settlements. In all truthfulness I do not know how they work or decide on a case. Could be a place to start at least. Be well~
My dentist will not even work on people who have taken these bone meds!
I don't know what to do with my dental issues... since prolia my teeth are loose, I have developed gum disease which I never had before, lost 3 teeth, have drymouth and mouth sores... but was told implants and posts are not to be used with prolia- bone has to grow and adhere to implants... I need additional implants... what do others know about this?
It seems that all these types of meds are intefering with teeth, causing all kinds of problems. ZOMETA is no different, bones are turning into sand, especially the long leg bone, femur. My MD has not had me oa any of these meds for 4 years now b/c she's afraid to use anymore of them on me. I was on oral meds for 40+ years and all these meds stay in the body forever, there is no half life etc. !
We need to file a class action lawsuit against this compnay
Quantifying that - it has been 3 years now in February since injection, so dentist is cleaning up my teeth issues. Man, is it expensive! But nice to know he can save them.
Pood and others:
I saw a tv commercial while awake at 3am for: Classaction.com. I searched Prolia and nothing came up. Their site allows you to submit your case. If everyone submitted their prolia scenario they may take notice.

Let's try?!?! I'm so sick and tired of waiting to feel better once prolia is gone from my system... The TV commercials touting its healthy use infuriates me as I stress that others will continue to be given this drug.
What do you think?
Can everyone visit the site and submit their prolia horror story? It might turn into something. There is no cost and currently no case. We can make one.
Jan~it all depends on how active Prolia is in your body. When was your last injection? Six months after that the Maxofacial Docs will work with your teeth and gums. As I wrote before, some people had braces put on but never reported back. Also in doing implants they use extremely sterilized cadaver bone to help build up your bone mass so the implant stays in. I had just a super tiny little bit but it was sufficient to keep my implant in. With osteoporosis, we all lose a little bone in the jaw so the use of cadaver bone is nothing new. We can only thank the people that left their bodies for science to help the rest of us. If it has been over 6 months go talk to the specialists. It's downright amazing what they can do. Wishing you the best. Be well~Pood
Jeanne, have they run your Mother's immunoglobulins? That may stop the diarrhea right there if iGA is low. Otherwise, she should be on pain meds. If you are in the US, you can get them from a Pain Specialist or a Rheumatologist. Mine worked with an Immunologist and that is why I got well so quickly. Month 5 was feeling pretty good and by 6 it was basically gone. I still have terrible pain in my spine and from the injection site that runs up my neck. I doubt it never leaves. Wish we had a really good acupuncturist. Be well~Pood
Yes, she shines on HGTV which is where I found all the destructive side effects. They go so quickly with them that, when we've had time to review over time, whammy re incapacitated. PTL II don't have the teeth issues...but the groin/pelvis/thigh is enough.
Pood- yes, that is the commercial I am referring to. Makes Prolia look like the BEST thing for all Grandmas Everywhere... I'm not out enjoying a family day. I'm dealing with side effects. I want the commercial off... makes grandmas want to take prolia out of fear of Osteoperosis. I too had the gluten intolerance flair up after Prolia. When I eat gluten my digestive issues are a million times worse. Otherwise, I have now cyclic diareah gas and bloating that comes and goes in a regular basis. The gerd is regular. On a bad day I can't leave the house for hours until I am "empty." I had a diagnosis of probable Sojogrens disease which is autoimmune as well... I am looking forward to having this go away as the prolia leaves... I had jyst 1 injection of prolia. That fateful day was January 3,2016. It's now 14 + months post prolia. A year ago I was at my worst with reaction and side effects. My health was out of control. I would not have made a lovely commercial for prolia. Instead I was a spokesperson for Mayo Clinic and fearing death from COPD and uti and pain and sores and rashes and cramps and more... as time progresses and prolia half lives continue, I appear to feel better and hope the side effects continue to lessen as each month passes.it stole the last 15 months from me and cost s lit with lost wages and dr visits and supplements and rxs... thanks for your kind and knowledgeable response.
Just do'nt throw the remote control through the tv next time her smiling face is touting prolia on TV... so very sorry for your prolia story... hugs...
She has been on pain meds for years. I am a nurse and believe me I watch this close. Looking into starting a class action law suit.
I justt looked into that...Again... appears classaction only happens when all he negative finally comes out. Then the class action lawyers step up... the last 2 I contacted stated: there isn't a case yet... I think it will first take individual claims to pave the way and those of us who are recovering have less power than those who have suffered death and permanent damage... even with my dad's case against Kaiser and his specialist, by the DA (not me) the burden of proof it was "willful intent" and miliicious intent - rather than malpractice and judgement and error and lastly cover up. I hope someone be can find an attorney to take this on.
Doris~have you had that leg X-rayed? Often times the pain in the groin area is from a leg starting to break from Prolia. Another one of it's lovely side effects. It can happen with only 1 injection. We had a lovely Chinese lady on here from Canada and it broke her leg. It's way, way back in the back pages. She didn't fall or anything else. Just took a step and that was it. They had to put pins in it to hold it in place until it healed. I assume she is still alive. Be well~Pood
