Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Judy~please check your local drug store for an over the counter med called Biotene.
It is for dry mouth. Quite cheap really. It was widely advertised in the US so I would think you would have it too. I would just call different ones up and ask if they carry it.
Be well~Pood

Poodle- thank you... it's too bad people do not come back to report in their prolia experience after the fact. I will make it a point to do so. From a year ago I feel better. I could do little for my age 6-8 months ago. I thought I was dying so went to Mayo Clinic. Even a few of their doctors are on the pro prolia fence. I had a team of docs there who helped sort things out and now my primary care at home follows those directions...it's been a long road back to health. The TV commercial has been in 3 times today for prolia. Makes me so sad! Today I am back doing some volunteer work ... I had had to quit substitute teaching last March as I was too sick from the Prolia. I am so ready to feel better and look forward to each months end to see improvements as I enter now Year 2 post prolia. I only had one shot in January 2016. I too have a psychologist, nephrologist, cardiologist, rheumatologist, OBGYN, endocrinologist, prostedentist and a general practitioner following my case. I follow your comments... you help many- thank you...

Linda, it is true that Prolia never totally leaves your body but it becomes so very tiny like one cell - so it cannot bother you. Your dentist was trying to explain half lives to you and I've written it time and again and again on this site. There is never an end to a half life. It goes on into infinity. Now you can stop worrying about the future. Be well~

These symptoms are most likely a sign of low serum calcium. Your doctor should monitor your calcium levels as it is a reported side affect.

My mom took this shot and has had nothing but problems. Extreme pain in her lower back. Fatigue that is so extreme she can't hardly get out of bed. She has had muscle cramping in her legs and arms. Headache, fevers, chills, problems now with her bladder. PLEASE TELL PEOPLE NOT TO GET THIS> Her doctor has no idea how long these will last. When getting hold of other people it has been months to over a year with these problems.

Had shot Jan 2017. First 2 weeks no side effects. Next 4 weeks severe joint muscle and bone pain. Can hardly do my yoga and walking. Five weeks out no sleep. Sleep 2 hours a day. Six week out upper digestive pain with nausea. Going to PC tomorrow. Pain is severe all over body. Flu like symptoms. Will never take again. I think my calcium is depleted.

Yes, that's exactly what it seems to do to so many. Truly sorry. Make sure your doctors monitor your blood calcium levels. Patients need to be on mega doses of calcium and Vitamin D but that doesn't always make you feel better as this drug does too many damaging things to a body. Again, sorry!

Just to let people know. When my prolia rash started (so typical),then 31 days out my skin all over my body just dryed out so much even oils and lotion and drinking lots of water only gives minimal relief.

Elaine~Prolia causes leather like skin with nasty blisters. That's a fact! Have you tried taking a bath with some oatmeal in it and a little epsom salts too helps too. What you really need are cortisone pills from your Doc to counteract that. Most don't like to give you very much but Rheumatologists pass it out like candy. It cannot hurt your bones because of the Prolia but you do have to come off of it very slowly or your blood will go crazy and you will get DVT's and PE's. Slowly tapering off when the Prolia stops bothering your skin. Maybe a year or less. Be well~Pood

Judy~can your Dr. refer you to a Psychiatrist if you have any available near where you live? They thrive on what you are currently experiencing as depression and anxiety. They know the better meds to combat those feelings. What were we supposed to do with our teeth other than brushing and flossing?? I use little Christmas tree shaped things to massage my gums in between the teeth and also dip them in salt with baking soda. That keeps the gums healthy but what else can we do?? My dentist flat told me to stay away until all my symptoms of Prolia were gone and if I had any problems go to the specialists - Maxofacial or something like that. I got one implant from them before Prolia. As I have written before I had a Primary, Cardiac surgeon, Psychiatrist and Rheumatologist/Immunologist. I've also noticed on Lawyers and Settlements they are getting a heck of a lot of people like us so maybe legal action will start one of these days, hopefully. It's not about money. Amgen needs to be stopped one way or another and then I read that people that have been on the oral bis's are having severe problems years later so good thing Merck has a lot of money in that pot. Do you get to go to Florida??? Be well~

Sam~how much calcium with Vitamin D are you taking and are you getting any natural calcium too? Prolia LOVES calcium and that is why it attacks your muscles as the human body really cannot store calcium but there is some in our muscles. Insomnia acute is normal with Prolia. May I suggest you get in with a Psychiatrist to get all the sleeping meds you need so you can sleep peacefully. You should also be on pain medication. Will your PC give you a referral to a Pain Specialist? They are a little afraid of passing out what you really need to make you comfortable. If you are lucky, this will get much better in the 5th month and well by the 6th. Not all of us are the same so I cannot promise it but it should happen. As for the nausea, you can take OTC meds for that. Someone here found one worked better than the others. Look thru the posts and find it. If I can help you in any other way, please do not hesitate to ask. I am a survivor of this poison and I pretty much know what we need. Be well~

Linda, that is true that Prolia never completely leaves us but (my favorite word) it comes down to just one cell and causes us no harm. Prolia is a biologic drug just like aspirin is. Anything living or having lived on our Earth is carbon based and that is where your dentist was leading you to. When something is carbon based it has half lives and they go on into infinity. Amgen says the half life of Prolia is 16 days so in 16 days half of the Prolia is deleted from your body and then in 16 more days another half of that half and in 16 more days another half of that half on into infinity. Is that aspirin you had 20 years ago bothering you? No, because it's half lives have been pretty much diminished so there is only one cell of that aspirin in you and the same is true with Prolia. This is how we can find out how old an antiquity is if it were made from something grown on this Earth -- carbon dating. You have a smart dentist that understands science. Be well~Pood

Yes Pood, I bath with oatmeal and some grape seed oil with some baking soda every night, then oil down after using the topical steroids. I have started using cbd oil diluted with grape seed and jojoba oils and lavender to sooth the skin.

Poodle,I was at my GP today and she felt that I was dealing with way too much and has referred me to a psychiatrist . She also said that I was not to worry about my high WBC .....that I had had a tooth infection which could explain it. She has also written another script for lorazepam as I was so afraid I'd become addicted and didn't ask for anymore when I ran out. Thank you for your support as I get very little from any of my sibling , none to be exact.i do have 2 daughters who I can talk to and my husband tries but is dealing with his own issues from 2 strokes.

PLEASE do not get this. My mom has not been healthy since getting this. Extreme pain in lower back and tail bone. Extreme headaches, and fatigue. Muscle cramps, leaking bladder, extreme dry mouth, diarrhea, lack of appetite. The list goes on and on. This drug should be taken off the market.

Jeanne, I too have dry mouth. It was one of the side effects I've been dealing with. My dentist told me that it was because of dry mouth that I ended up with a tooth infection. It can cause tooth decay. I almost lost my front tooth. As for dry mouth, I am now seeing a dentist who specializes in oral medicine and orofacial pain. Very expensive bills but at the moment I'm on antiviral meds and will be starting an oral rinse from a compounding pharmacy! Maybe this info could be of use to your mother.
What really angers me about all of this that it is mainly men promoting this drug. Maybe they should give it to their wives, daughters and girlfriends! When I phoned the company it was a male "expert" that I spoke to!

Poodle I have been cruzing the different threads and am realuzing I am having many of the side effects. Depression, short of breath, heart flutters, short temper, cold and hot. I am praying my side effect leave after 2 months or at least reduce significantly.

I feel for your mom. Her list of side effects reflects mine. Hopefully she can look forward to feeling a little better at the end of each month- that is how I try to gauge my recovery from Prolia. Keeping track of what is a little better helps with feeling overwhelmed with how awful one feels. Glad you are there for your mom...

I lost two more teeth yesterday. That makes 7 teeth that I have lost since taking Prolia. I am just sick about it. I will be starting on dental implants soon. It is so expensive but do not have a choice. I think the drug company should pay for my implants but I am sure that won't happen
