I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Re: JenjiOz (# 2956) Expand Referenced Message

Hi there, I too have had a year from hell. As I have written before I had one injection March 7/19 and it was downhill all the way. I had a severe reaction which resulted in angioedema of my face and ears, my asthma was worse to the point where I had my first 3 asthma attacks that ended going to urgent care, extreme muscle pain, my angina got worse and now I have right ventricular heart failure and a thoracic aortic aneurysm and many more adverse event that are all connected to Prolia. My doctors all recognize the connection but all they say is what a sane that this happened. I contacted lawyers and finally got two to look at my case and due to the fact that the pharma company has declared these adverse events in there monograph there’s no ability for a class action case. Then I wanted to go after the specialist but no one will touch it because I am not sick enough. So I am going to report her to the college of physicians of Ontario. For those of you who are very disabled from this poison keep fighting and don’t give up, you may get someone who will take this case.

Yes on the leg muscles. 3 years later I still have it, then took Statins and exacerbated all my spasms and weakness. The problems with my toes will always be with me. In the last few days, I have finally been able to exercise again. I too get sick on a total vegetarian or Vegan diet, but Save Our Bones recommends an 80/20 plan, with the 80% being plant based. My go to exercise for years has been TTAPP, I also do Leslie Sansones Walk at Home, an excellent work out. Now I have added
Exercises by Miranda Edmonds White, the low level, she has one specifically for Osteo. I am thinking positively that the next 2 years will show stronger bones. Good health to all

Re: Darcy (# 2953) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Darcy and everyone,

Do you or anyone else have the front leg muscles pull so tight and makes you so off balance you need to walk with a cane? I've got this and was wondering if it's another nasty Prolia side effect.

Someone mentioned a plant-based diet. I'm almost back to being a vegetarian and am considering going vegan. I can't do a drastic diet change or I get sicker. This has been a fairly quick easing back into vegetarianism (about 2 weeks.) Sal, I'm going to get the Save Our Bones program this year.

Thanks for the help everyone. Hugs and blessings!
Nikki

Re: Darcy (# 2953) Expand Referenced Message

That sounds awful. I had most of those symptoms except 5, 8 and 9. The vertigo was quite scary - it made me feel so old and frail. My skin issues were probably the worst of all. A dermatologist told me it was "probably allergic". Duh! It took me two years to feel as though I had mainly recovered.
I never had a basal cell carcinoma (or any other cancer) before Prolia, and none since. Mine was near the corner of my eye. My facial bones still itch a little. I still haven't regained the hair from my armpits, the site of some of the worst and longest-lasting itching. If that hair returns I'll happily shave it. The hair on my head has recovered. I was about to let myself go a dignified grey until Prolia made me feel about 108. I'm sticking with auburn and a good cut.
I got off really lightly, but I'll never forget my year of leaden limbs and misery on the sofa, without the energy or motivation to even water my dying plants. Last year I was able to take on some physically demanding work, something I couldn't have imagined in 2017 and 2018.
I, too, had only two injections. It took me ages to work out the link, something which makes me feel so stupid, as a former research librarian. But the time lag makes it so easy to forget. I thought the early skin problems were sand flies; my doctor thought it was scabies.
My new GP has done the reading. She will use Prolia only as a last resort, so I have been a worthwhile lesson. I hope the specialist who prescribed this rubbish has learned something as well. I doubt it - in his eyes these side-effects are 'rare' and quite possibly imaginary. But he did take photos, so maybe ...
But I still don't understand why the huge numbers haven't made an impact. We may be a relatively small percentage but there are an awful lot of us!

I wish you well trying to confront your medicos. One wonders how much is in it for them. Your list is frightening. I had 7 shots with the last being just over 2 years ago. No lessening of my problems which involve about a third of your list but adding aching left side jaw and thigh bones all really bad when I am trying to rest.Several GPs later and I still can't get any of them to believe my problems are associated with Prolia even though I inform that that a conversation with Amgen Aust got me the agreement that yes these can be side effects but they are very rare. Really???

Re: Darcy (# 2953) Expand Referenced Message

I share many of your side effects, and I had also with Statins for cholesterol.
I cannot tolerate either. Recently I had the same conversation with Dr’s. With these drugs and cannot function. Finally now, I am exercising again.
I prefer to use diet and exercise instead of drugs. Check out Save Our Bones.

Hi. Darcy here. Had 2 Prolia Shots ~ Jan and June of 2019. Researched and found Medschat, went back and connected many of my new issues to Prolia. Since shots are so far apart, you don’t figure these atrocities to be due to Prolia, but my gut tells me they are. Was pretty healthy prior to this. Started eating better in April of 2019 following the Plant Paradox by Dr Gundry which I feel has saved me from worse symptoms.

My symptoms so far:
1) Skin cancer. Had a Basel Cel removed, and now a squamous including MOHS Surgery.
2) Hair Loss. My hair is found all over the house!
3) Scalp issues. Have small scales, crusty bumps on my scalp.
4) Leg Weakness. Upon standing, suddenly, pins & needles in both legs and HAVE TO sit or I will fall!
5) Finger knuckles enlarged. Joint disfigurement within one year!
6) Vertigo. Often Unsteady on feet.
7) Lethargy. Am fatigued a lot. Can’t seem to get a lot done in the day.
8) Popping, cracking joints. Bones and joints loudly pop ~ all over: toes, arms, legs. Not normal for me.
9) Cold spells. Reading or watching TV and I get cold All over. Inside and in a chair with a warm blanket ~ lasts about 5 minutes or so.

I pray all our Prolia issues abate over time. You are not alone as this website attests. Keep researching, digging and confronting your Doctors when they push any drug on you!

Good for you. Reclast is as bad as Prolia.

So, I have been taking Statins for high cholesterol and experiencing similar side effects as with Prolia ( from which I have never fully recovered ). I was becoming concerned that there might be something else going on so I saw a Rheumatologist.. The first words out of her mouth were “statins and Fibromyalgia don’t mix. ! “. That got me thinking, maybe Prolia and Fibromyalgia don’t mix as well. Now my Dr. wants me to take an injectable medicine for cholesterol made by : AMGEN. ! ! I am beside myself.

Re: Ginger (# 2941) Expand Referenced Message

Same thing happened to me. The new doctor that I had gone to for a Thyroid condition made an appointment at the hospital for me to have Reclast injected without even talking to me. I said, NO WAY and never went back to that doctor. Damn crazy! Karen

I also suffered from Vertigo.

First thing is hair falling out. Lots of hair falling out. The next thing is aching bones, as if you had been in a car accident. Others have complained of problems with their teeth. I did not have that problem. It was quite awhile before I figured out that the shots were the problem. I was told the hair loss was because I was old and the bone aches were arthritis. Good luck! It is just the money that the doctor gets that matters to all of them!

Are there people in the group who dialysed and prescribed Prolia by their nephrologist ???

You are one of the fortunate ones to have no side effects. I thought I was having no side effects either after my first injection, but had done no research on this horrible drug. After 7 shots, I finally started researching, I was in a state of shock, as was my body. I was and am still suffering from the many side effects of Prolia. I am currently struggling with back, muscle, joint pain. Hair loss, vertigo, that caused falls. I was a very healthy person before taking the injections. Wish I had never taken the first shot. I it now being used for Cancer patients, a form of Chemo therapy. As I stated it has been a nightmare for me, currently taking PT for my muscle and back pain that started after taking this deadly drug. I hope this helps other to not suffer as I have from Prolia. It should be taken off the market.

My advice to anyone considering this drug is : DON’T !!!!!! I rue the day I allowed myself to be “Gaslighted “ into taking this against my better judgement. Instead I recommend a site called:
Save Our Bones, s natural treatment for Osteoporosis.

Re: Norma (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

I had 7 shots and the last one 2 years ago. I still have an aching jaw, sore thigh bones and some nausea. I'm not certain the nausea is caused by the prolia but the other symptoms certainly are. I would have stopped the shots after the first 2 but 3 different GPs bullied me into more. I simply refuse them now. It is a dreadful poison to most people. I contacted Amgen Aust about my problems and they said "well, yes, they can be side effects but they are very rare" They lie or no one is reporting them.

Re: Ginger (# 2941) Expand Referenced Message

I just read a short piece about “ Medical Gaslighting “, when physicians not only are dismissive, but sow doubt in their patients. Judging by the response, it is a pervasive problem as we can all attest.

Apparently there have been studies on this and I took a short quiz indicating that, yes, I have have been experience this not only with Prolia, but throughout my life. This may be an area in whic we can participate.

Re: Old Guy (# 2939) Expand Referenced Message

Prolix is a horror. The pain you described is common. One thing to consider is the possibility of Hypocalcemia, which causes muscle pain and stiffness. I myself experienced this and had a hard time getting Dr,’s to listen to me. I saw three Dr.’s who blew me off, statin, calling my symptoms “ Just Fibromyalgia “. Finally, the fourth one listened and ordered the bold tests; as it turned out, my Calcium was dangerously low.

Be well
