Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Grannyvee~mine never hurt and when one took off and ended up as saddled PE's in my lungs, I thought I had hypotension. I thought the ER Doc was insane when he yelled out 'cardiac' and they were on me like fleas on a dog. They were a present from being on 10-20 mg Pred every day for a year and did not taper down - just had to quit cold turkey and my blood went insane. Thankfully, no cardiac damage or brain damage. Just $6 grand for a shot to break them up. This was also the wonderful Doc that gave me the Prolia injection. As she says: I have every reason in the world to hate her but that would only really hurt me. Pood

Skitty~I think that may be where women are getting in trouble with Calcitonin. I only put mine in a nostril at night. An injection lasts longer and cannot be undone as quickly as just 'insufflating' something. I was reading about it on a drug site and intranasal administration was not that much more than a placebo so I feel quite safe with it. The injection had a higher rate of problems.

Skitty~I'll tell you one thing for sure. If you get a little Poodle you are in for a lot of loving. The worst punishment in this world for a Poodle is to be absent from it's owner. Mine is at my feet as I write here, on the sofa with me when I watch TV and has her own pillow on my bed. They are a little expensive tho as they have like human hair and have to have hair cuts every few months or so. It's so fun to spoil them. They are good puppies and don't get into things like other puppies do. Paper is always a source of joy if we can get into it -- a dropped paper towel or something!!!!

Thanks Pood, I'm in a depression from my loss. I think I would love a poodle but I have not had a dog for many years. I'm not sure if I can take care of one because I'm used to cats and it's a lot more work. Plus I think our remaining cat might be horrified by s dog. I'm even nervous to get another cat with her because she has a pee/ territorial problem. How big are toy poodles?

Thanks Pood, I'm going to ask my r do about calcitonin nasal. Just worried because I have migraines and spraying something in my nose may trigger them. I'm having more issues now with elevated pth & low d, high b12 and another high urine calcium so I need to get this figured out hopefully before I do anything else.

Skittie- Toy Poodles are less then 10 inches tall at the shoulder. Mine is called a Tiny Toy Poodle and she is very, very small about 5 pounds. There are also some very mellow Pomeranians that are that size too. A friend of mine knows the breeder. Beyond excellent temperaments. This particular breeder with the Poms is in WY. I've been thinking of getting one as a play mate for my tiny Poodle. She seemed to like the little Pom and wanted to play with her. The like in temperature could be a huge problem tho as my Pood likes it hot and Poms love cold and have a great time playing in the snow. Wonder why I'm the only one getting Calcitonin??? Stay well~Pood

Where can I find it? BTW has anyone had kidney issues after taking Prolia? I'm finding it is evident in some - also a case study of a youngster being treated for cancer by Prolia's other named drug, (denusumab - or do I have it mixed up with a cousin, Reclast? but the report definitely stated Prolia -) and ending up with kidney issues. I should find out more about my own situation when today's tests are reported back to me. Of course I am praying this is not so.....but a constant burning and feeling "off" for three months......is not right. 15 months since first and only injection of Prolia now. I have informed my doctor and the endocrinologist he sent me too that the recommendation of Reclast is no more acceptable to me than another injection of Prolia! "Check with me in two or three more years of studies on these drugs," I said.

Now my doctor says he has about 100 patients on Prolia. So that makes me the one in 100 that has had multiple debilitating and painful side effects according to him, and I don't think he yet believes me, even though he watched me hobble into his office on a cane after being bought into building in wheelchair. Despite the fact I still have sores all over my body Despite the fact, the bursitis has not completely gone away, to mention a few. I don't buy it. I read the New York article - it doesn't mention the myriad of side effects, many debilitating and some leading to fatalities potentially........Dr. told me it is used to treat cancer - - - well, even then I would have to choose between quality of my last years against the quantity.

Found it!!!!
Thank you so much. I did post something about the new things cropping up (or becoming so bad, they are having to look at the issues - i.e, hypercalcemia and also possible kidney issues. Article is very general and not even coming close to all the side effects of this drug. It needs about five more years study at least with people being aware of what can happen to them if they participate and receive Prolia!

Thanks Pood, my doc won't rx it... said I will definitely get cancer if I take it... defended all the other drugs. And I still don't know what is going on with my pth being high.. this doc believes it's caused from low vitamin d but I have had two high urine calcium levels now so I'm excreting a lot of calcium. It could be a primary parathyroid issue- so I can't take forteo. I'm not sure if I want to at this point anyway. All these drugs scare me quite frankly. If not for my dvt I would go back on hrt. But I was on that for year before everything happened and I still got Osteporosis with 4-5 years of early menopause. That is pretty fast for what normally happens.

I would love a poodle I'm sure but still not sure about it.. or a pom.. All our kitties and doggies have been rescues though... I'm still grieving my little boy so much.. I think his spirit is still here as our other kit looked to one of his beds as if he was here today. I just keep talking to him. I'm going for a walk.. hopefully that will help things if nothing else does. I hope you're feeling better.

Pood, one of my docs said due to me telling her about the terrible side effects she is going to stop prolia. So far she has been lucky to have none.

Skittie~does that mean she will not Rx it to anyone at all? If that is the case, you have found a very smart Dr. They prefer to blame it on anything else other than Prolia and I know the witch that about did me in is still giving it to people and so is my GP. Why in the world are Drs. unable to stand up for the oath they took -- DO NO HARM. Good for you!!! Were you able to put 2 plus 2 together when I wrote you about the Poms? Be well my friend~Pood

Pood I meant my doc won't rx calcitonin. Said it will give me cancer. For sure. There's an FDA warning about it. Said has RX prolia with no side effects. My other doc was taking prolia for 2 years with no effects. She said since her bone density is now osteopenia she's going to stop it due to the terrible side effects etc. not sure what you mean about the poms?

Skittie~Post 1409. I have never ever in my life met a person that got cancer in their nose from Calcitonin. It does say to go have your nose checked once a year. I live in a high arid dessert so I have always used a product in my nose and on my lips to keep them moist and if one does this every night on the side that did not get the Calcitonin in it, it would be totally impossible to get cancer from it. Product itself says do not use in nose but my Grandma did, my Mom did and I always have. It's a really good lubricant more for maybe a cold and it's not Vics or however they spell that. There is always a very easy way to never have nose problems. I had cancer before and it was a real 'w'itch but I'm not the least bit worried about Calcitonin. I know it's history too well. How many people has Prolia killed and they still love that and it does leave the body open to cancer as we always have cancer cells in us but it is the job of our immune system to seek and destroy. We have one member that did get cancer from Prolia and in a very bad place. She definitely wants in on the legal suit when I find someone else to talk to and I will ask for more time so we can get everyone together. Hugs~
