Would like to know if anyone had side effects from Prolia but they went away - and how long did it take for that to happen?
Note: When one stops Prolia, it can cause the bones in the spine to break. I now believe such is the case with mine and the reason for such horrid pain. It is listed as a side effect from stopping Prolia. Cursed one way or another. Pood
Same thing happened to me , I've only had one injection next one is due in oct. but I'm
Sure not going to have it
Prolia is the devil! I have never had pain in my shoulders, arms, hands and feet like I have since the injections. Chronic inflammatory pain. Should be
taken off market.
Poodle- thank you for your kind note and for sharing your story... it helps to listen to others and compare and also understand... and empathize... our Prolia journeys are not ones to be envied! Each day I continue to see improvement- mostly by comparing to the year past. Each day I seem stronger. Than the year before- it's a good thing... half life seems rather surreal to me... but it's a good visual for me to consider and ponder...
I was taking Boniva for a couple of years, but it caused me awful throat spasms. So, they put me on Prolia, & told me it shouldn't have the same side effects, BUT IT DOES !! This has been my 4 th injection of this drug, and these spasms have prevented me from eating (swallowing) normally, & have lost a quite a bit of wt. due to not being able to properly swallow. It's diminishing from my system, but not quick enough; I've had to have a PEG Tube inserted, so I can be put on a high-calory formula to give nutrition to my small body--Do not take this drug; it's side effects do more harm, than good !!
i am sixty nine year old female, after my third shot of prolia i have terrible back and neck pain i feel so ill as if i have aged twenty years. will never take it again,no energy i was not like this before i took prolia.i am so worried , am i left like this,my doctor does not believe me,it is the most horrendous drug should be banned,i just feel like crying that this could happen, they dont care as long as they make money from it,dont take it.

Yes, and many other side effects. It's like a cancer eating at my body. It has been going on since May 2016.
I am 68 yrs old and getting ready for 2nd injection. I'm extremely sensitive to drugs and was reluctant to try Prolia given the possible side effects. However, my osteoporosis is severe and only other med recommended was Forteo which I cannot take due to having kidney stones. For the first few days following Prolia injection, I was fatigued and had mild flu-like symptoms. I also had pain in several teeth for a few weeks. But, overall, side effects were minor although I noticed increased fatigue off and on, which generally subsided in day or two. A positive side effect was a significant decrease in back and shoulder pain. Since it's now been 7 months, the pain has returned and I'm hoping that it again subsides following upcoming injection. I have not yet had follow-up bone density test so don't know if the Prolia has improved bone quality or not. I'm still somewhat anxious about possible side effects, but I think that those who have either few effects or have positive effects rarely post their comments. If my osteo were not so severe, I would be hesitant about most of the drug therapies.
After my first and so far only injection my blood calcium dropped to critical level and it is listed as a side effect. Not sure if I will have a second injection , it is still at a critical level after 2 months my physician is giving meds for it
Smith Janet~Yes, Prolia does reduce a lot of our T-cells and T-cell helpers. That's why we catch anything going around and so many of us have developed urinary problems, etc., etc., etc. Muscle problems are an easy fix with the correct brand of Magnesium One has to be careful as some brands produce diarrhea. I still take 500mg of Magnesium in the evening when I go to bed and have long past the 'Great Big Prolia Adventure'. I got well within the 6th month period only because of my Rheumatologist that works together with an Immunologist. Only good thing I can write about Prolia was the fact my fingernails were very strong and beautiful. Years after the injection, my nails are worthless and usually bandaged and my hair is still falling out worse than a dog shedding. My Doc tells me it's my age but I'm not that old to be experiencing that! Also, after the Prolia, the bone it built up left quickly. It has caused my spine to be a much bigger 'mess' than it was before. "Mess" is my clinical diagnosis from an Orthopedic Surgeon. After I get my new knee I am going to start having injections for my back and then he will cauterize the nerves in my spine that are causing all the pain. It's definitely Prolia related and when I go to bed to lie down it feels as if each vertebrae is breaking. I don't know when I will ever get off of pain meds. I don't like them but have to have them. I LOST weight on Prolia and got down to 100 pounds. It has been a great difficulty getting weight back on. Finally, I am close to where I want to be at 118 pounds or 120. I was previously pre-Prolia at 165. You will get well, that I promise, but certain things just don't change. The half life of Prolia is 16 days so you can figure for yourself when it will leave your body as every 16 days 1/2 of it's remaining 1/2 leaves. Since it's a biologic there will always be a tiny little molecule left in the body but not enough to cause us any problems. I sincerely hope and pray that you will not be one of the ladies experiencing Prolia problems long after they should be gone. Prolia did strike at my gum line and took out the roots of two teeth but it could not continue as it ran into a titanium implant that stopped it in it's tracks. I have since had implants put in and have to wait until Sept. for the crowns. Be well~Pood
I did, but it was like puffy weight...I definitely looked ill. It finally all came off. And I wasn't eating much because I felt so sick...
My blood calcium dropped after my first and only injection, vitamin D level is normal.anyone else experience this?
Still hoping to hear more ladies have had rapid weight gain since taking the shot Cholesterol is up even tho I'm on crestor. which makes sense if you weigh more cholesterol will go up. Not sure many realize they go together. Please let me know if you have this issue. Thank you
Thank you Janet. All the best to you . This helps me alot.
Yes... I put on 35 lbs in 2 months- went up 3 dress sizes and 1 1/2 shoe sizes...I felt awful, fatigued and was not eating differently. I eat healthy and low fat / low carb. 20 lbs are off now at 15 months post prolia. My weight can readily fluctuate 5 to 15 lbs weekly. I had purchased a mother of the bride dress 1 month pre-prolia and had to repurchase the same dress 2 times due to the weight gain.
I was hoping to hear if more Ladies have put on rapid weight with the Prolia shots.
Please if so post would love to hear from you . thank you.
Thank you for giving us hope. I am totally disabled at 60 since having received this poison injection. I will start acupuncture. Thank you much...
MT
Thanks Pood. I will see what I can find here in Oklahoma
Elaine~I believe acupuncture can do many wonderful things for us that are in misery with Prolia. Could you just make an appointment and ask yours if s/he believes that acupuncture will help with your current problems. Not all acupuncturists are equal. We had a fantastic one here but he had no money for advertising so he had few clients and left. Now we have another that cannot do 1/10 of what the original acupuncturist did. And, if you cannot find a good acupuncturist there are Physical Therapists that do dry needling but it's more for pain issues I think. Be well~Pood
