Prolia Side Effects Duration (Page 11)

Would like to know if anyone had side effects from Prolia but they went away - and how long did it take for that to happen?
Re: Elaine (# 114)
What I meant when I wrote that certain problems last beyond the half-life of Prolia is that it can cause severe damage to the human body up to and including death. It has zero to do with one cell of Prolia in a human body. Just do not expect to be completely and totally well within six months. If only one inj. and with a lot of help one can feel pretty well after the six months are up because our immune system starts to return to 'normal' again. I am years past the dreaded Prolia shot and living in the wake of its destruction which is my spine breaking and my hair falling out and not recovering -- another thread here at medschat. Be well~
Re: Nikki (# 116)
If you go back to the Y try water aerobics or something from the aquatic program. Helps build strength but gentle on joints. Helped me as I came off Prolia.
Re: Bunny (# 108)
Hi Bunny,
My skin is fair, I have a small frame, dry skin and a number of stomach issues along with gluten intolerance and arthritis. My doctor refused to put me on Calcitonin. I tried twice. He said it doesn't work. There are side effects to Calcitonin too, so I don't know.
Currently, I'm not taking anything for the osteoporosis. I plan on going to the YMCA and working on the machines and treadmill but sheesh, I keep getting sick. I had an x-ray this week because I'm having a muscle issue in my left arm. We have no idea what caused it. I think it could be from the Prolia, as is most of the new health issues I'm experiencing.
I'm about to research how women are after stopping Prolia, assuming the information is out there. I'd like to be as prepared as possible in fighting this.
Hugs to you and everyone else who is suffering because of this drug.
Nikki
Re: cindy (# 3)
It is the worst drug ever! It has chemo in the formula. I was never given reading material and kick myself for not looking up on internet. Tell a doctor you have had the injection and all of the side effects. Doctors take up for each other and will disagree with you and your problems. I had one injection 7 months ago and side effects beginning the first week, and sick, sick and all the doctors I went to would not do anything for me as they did not know what to do. I would ask doctors if they knew what prolia was and they would rambled around and some would admit they did not know much about it....Even the orthopedic and gastro doctors. You would think they would know! Three months after the injection I began to have thoracic/neck pain, and after one epidural I am still in pain and yes my arms hurt so bad. Gabapentin for pain was given to me for pain, one each day working up to three each day. I was a walking zombie and could not tell it helped. I went off of that and trying aleve and tylenol again until I can change doctors in january because of insurance.
Re: Poodle (# 111)
I am very careful only use organic products and make my own using shea butter and coconut oils. No perfumes anymore as it will cause a rash. I used prednisone at first of rash. No more. I have an autoimmune disorder so i am very careful anyway. Now tho the stuff that never bothered me before does. My MD is clueless. I just use trial and error and listen to my body. In another post Pood you said that the main side effect we suffered would always be there just less.
Re: Poodle (# 110)
Thank you. She already has a compromised immune system, and the Dr. who administered this did not tell us this would hurt her more. Amgen even recommends people with a compromised immune system should not be given this Prolia.
Re: Elaine (# 107)
but one cell cannot cause any damage or any problems to the human body any more than that one aspirin you had when you were maybe 20 or so. It's made from this Earth too but causes you zero problems. Prolia is different because when all of it's half lives are gone, it still causes problems that are very difficult to get rid of. Have you tried Prednisone for that nasty rash? Also, be very careful with soaps on your skin and your lotions. I know of two good ones that say "for face only" so we know that is extremely gentle and OTC lotions just don't work well with that rash. Nurses in hospitals use Nutrashield because they have to 'alcohol' their hands every time they come in to see a patient. It says it prevents diaper rash, dry and cracked skin, non-allergenic and non-sensitizing, It has to be ordered on-line or at a store that carries hospital items. I used it with my Prolia rash which is now gone. Hope you can find the correct products. Be well~
Re: Bunny (# 108)
Hi Bunny~I certainly would not recommend Prolia to anyone. Its side effects outweigh the benefits and it only puts down brittle old bone on top of brittle old bone. Not a winner there. There is a drug I use and it works well. It's called Calcitonin. Drs don't like it very much because it's old and cheap. Your best bet would be to get it from an Orthopedic Dr. It's made from Salmon but has zero fish smell or taste. My Mother was on it from 60 years of age to 98 years of age and never ever broke a bone again although she did fall very often. I am also very happy with it. I fell on the hardwood floors with a hip implant and got up, dusted myself off and kept on going. It does not interfere with our immune system at all and only has one very small side effect that about never happens because it's so very rare. I could not recommend it highly enough. Think about it. It works! Thank you for coming here before you took the Prolia. Be well~
Re: teddt (# 101)
Please keep her calm. Get her REAL paid meds. They will help. Also she may have insomnia from the Prolia so she may need help there. You also need to find an Immunologist to correct what Prolia has done to her immune system. I know there is one in Montana so there should be one somewhere near where you live. Get with her Dr. and find one YESTERDAY! Prolia works by binding to RANKL and that L is very important because that L is our immune system. Prolia deletes a lot of our T-cells and T-cell helpers. That is the reason all these ladies on here have had all kinds of infections. It causes more side effects than what the FDA lists. Sending mice into space was not exactly a very good way to test this drug. She will start getting better in the 5th month but she needs a lot of help now and it's up to you to get it for her. You are going against the Devil so play smart and play hard by getting her what she needs and the very best is not good enough. Prednisone is also a very good drug to take while on Prolia. It takes a bad drug to beat a bad drug. I'm not being hateful to you. I want to get your attention because your wife needs you very, very much if she is to survive this injection. Prolia also causes unknown problems in our DNA to come to the front and center. Get busy and we will keep her in our prayers as we do for all ladies that have been given this drug. Be well~

Re: Nikki (# 106)
Glad to be able to read someone s experience with prolix. I have not taken yet and am really scared of the side effects. There seem to be too many. Some people get along fine, but l am worried that l might not be so lucky. My scan is certainly not good- 33% loss. I am fair, slender frame white, dry skin prone to upset stomachs even though not at present - otherwise pretty healthy- walk about 5 times a week. Have been swinging back and forth with this. Anyone want to comment? See above that l misspelled prolia. Not going back to correct.
My worst side effect was the miserable rash over my body. It is better but at 9months post injection i continue to suffer with rash and itching response to things that never bothered me before. The intense internal heay sensation has decreased and only bothers me . Long story shory side effects never leave jusy ard less than while the drug is full sttength in your body. The drug is never gone from your body it remains one cell
Re: Anderperson (# 5)
Hi,
I was diagnosed with eczema after starting Prolia. Last year I had bronchitis 3 or 4 times when I've never had it before. The infections are harder to treat. This year I've just gotten over bronchitis, a continued sinus infection and an ear canal infection (this one is new too!).
I finally got the rheumatologist to take me off of the Prolia. The last bone scan barely showed any improvement. Why keep taking something that isn't working and is making my delicate health even worse? My doctor says I'm just one of those people who can't take any of these drugs.
I'm not take anything for osteoporosis except my vitamin D and K2. If I can ever quit getting sick I plan on going to the YMCA three times a week to work on the machines and the treadmill. I'm also looking into adjusting my diet to include bone strengthening items as well as natural oils/natural remedies to supplement what I'm doing.
Hugs and prayers to all of you!

Re: Ann (# 103)
I have had RA for 10 years and yes I had the first and only Prolia shot in November 2015. It was my worst nightmare. I had severe muscle and bone pain in my groin and thighs. I was unable to drive, dress myself, etc for the first four months. I also suffered from two fractures in my sacrum. I take methotextrate, leuflomide and hydroquloriquine for my RA. I do not think they mix with Prolia. My rheumatologist to this day does not admit Prolia caused my extreme pain. About 6 months after my shot I started to see my symptoms ease somewhat but still have some groin and thigh issues reappear from time to time.
Has anyone out there who has rheumatoid arthritis ever been given the Prolia shot?
I have read that it has not been tested for RA patients.
Re: Carla (# 86)
Same thing happened to me my 6 months is up next month and I am due for another injection but my family Dr advises me not to take it he will give me oral med instead. I've had parathyroid scan, kidney ultra sound and been x-rated from head to toe and nothing abnormal I told my Dr to start I thought it was the prolia injection, the numbness in the bottom of my feet finally stopped last week so hopefully things will continue to improve as it leaves my body.
My family Dr didn't order the injection I was going to pain clinic for back fractures but have stopped and just see my family Dr. the pain clinic ordered the prolia, its all a money pit.
Re: Poodle (# 13)
I don't believe anything the FDA says anymore. My wife wants to end her life after living with the Prolia shot now for 4 months. Wakes up crying. Total loss of basic physical functions here.
Re: david (# 99)
I would have a pulmonary check up. My husband had similar symptoms (not on prolia). It turns out he had a diagnosis we were not expecting. I suffered for over a Year from the effects of Prolia so follow this thread.
Re: BB (# 18)
Injection two months ago and am experiencing difficulty with breathing. When I force myself to fully inhale it causes me to cough involuntarily. This tends to make me breathe shallowly most of the time. Not good!
