Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 14) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?
Re: dietitian (# 419)
Hope you get some answers. I honestly think the dermatologist saved my hair. So, if your Doc has no answers maybe try that. I am going to read more about immune systems which is what (I think) Prolia messed with. Wish you well-- I hope you hang in there with your job. Our culture puts a lot of power into hair (thank you Farah Fawcett), but that does not get the job done!
I am 75 and love my thick hair. Been using Shann Christen biomethod shampoo. He is hair dresser in Los Angeles. Not expensive, been using it for years when my hair was falling out. My part had no hair, now u cannot see any scalp. He was on tv. It works, I only use that shampoo.
Hair ,Teeth, feet, knees, now thyroid. This shot Prolia almost killed me now my thyroid is all messed up and research shows the Prolia Shot can cause Thyroid Cancer Can destroy the thyroid. I would not give it to my dog. What I can’t understand is why all the talk why don’t someone do something about the stuff before it kills someone else.my hair is so thin a rubber Band want stay in it. I have wrote wrote and wrote. I have lost another tooth and half of one broke off and the dentist can’t fix it.just a matter of time until I will lose all the bottom teeth according to Dr Selecman my Dentists. The shot is to blame.
Hi
I had my first and ONLY prolia injection in August 2018 . Within one week my hair started falling out , I had restless leg syndrome , acid reflux problems , rashes and bumps all over my body . I soon realised what had caused this , but doctors and particularly Amgen who I corresponded with in the UK , all denied it was Prolia . I lost all my hair except for a few strands , paid over £1300 for treatment and decent wigs , and still suffer from restless leg syndrome and acid reflux, also rashes and bumps but the good news is that my hair grew back after 16 months . Its a poison , no question about it , and a bone scan revealed I was no better off for the drug . I have made it my job to tell everyone I know never to risk this poison being put into your body , it is not worth it . It made me so so ill , I did not want to go on . Whatever doctors and consultants tell you, ignore . Some people have terrible reactions and I was one of them .

ItIt’s been a year and a half since my last prolia injection and my hair continues to fall out I have very little hair left on the top of my head and I don’t know what type of style will be appropriate I’m going to retire prematurely because I work for the public and I feel very insecure I informed my gynaecologist about the situation and he never responded
Re: Dietitian (# 428)
Have hope as mine continued to fall for a long time, then suddenly I found tons of short fresh hair growing all over , in fact I still have some growing which is just a few inches long and growing ! A good diet of green vegetables and fish was a decision I made , maybe it helped . I wish you luck , sadly doctors and consultants have little interest in these dreadful side effects .
As I have stated many times, Prolia has been a horrible almost deadly drug for me. I wish I had never trusted my doctor, and wish I had researched this horrible drug. I would have never taken the first shot. Hair loss is one of the minor side effects of prolia. I am still suffering from hair loss, but even worst, the back, neck, joint pain. Still suffering, I believe that I have permanent damage to my body! It is a form of chemotherapy! Being used for cancer patients. I living nightmare for me.I will never take another shot. I hope this is helpful for someone, not to suffer as I have from this poison!!!
Yes hair loss is one of the many horrible side effects of Prolia. I am still struggling with horrible back pain, and many more of the side effects of this drug. They are know using it for bone cancer patients. Horrible drug for me and I wish I had never taken it. I hope this helps you and others.
I’m still losing hair,I have to use the powder stuff to hide the necked spots. Now I am having thyroid problems.found out AlSo that Prolia can cause thyroid cancer,Iv had test,so far so good.
Hi. Darcy here. Had 2 Prolia Shots ~ Jan and June of 2019. Researched and found Medschat, went back and connected many of my new issues to Prolia. Since shots are so far apart, you don’t figure these atrocities to be due to Prolia, but my gut tells me they are. Was pretty healthy prior to this. Started eating better in April of 2019 following the Plant Paradox by Dr Gundry which I feel has saved me from worse symptoms.
My symptoms so far:
1) Skin cancer. Had a Basel Cel removed, and now a squamous including MOHS Surgery.
2) Hair Loss. My hair is found all over the house!
3) Scalp issues. Have small scales, crusty bumps on my scalp.
4) Leg Weakness. Upon standing, suddenly, pins & needles in both legs and HAVE TO sit or I will fall!
5) Finger knuckles enlarged. Joint disfigurement within one year!
6) Vertigo. Often Unsteady on feet.
7) Lethargy. Am fatigued a lot. Can’t seem to get a lot done in the day.
8) Popping, cracking joints. Bones and joints loudly pop ~ all over: toes, arms, legs. Not normal for me.
9) Cold spells. Reading or watching TV and I get cold All over. Inside and in a chair with a warm blanket ~ lasts about 5 minutes or so.
I pray all our Prolia issues abate over time. You are not alone as this website attests. Keep researching, digging and confronting your Doctors when they push any drug on you!
Re: Darcy (# 437)
I haven't had an injection in almost a year and a half. I am still losing hair soon I am going to have to wear a wig.
Re: Lizzie (# 440)
Thanks for mentioning hair cut in layers. I used to keep my hair short but after Forteo and Prolia therapy my hair lost caused thin hair, would come out in hand full. Now I have let it grow out only trim ends. Its been over a year when I decided not to do the injections. I think slayer haircut will cover thin spots.
Re: Darcy (# 434)
We should number them all!!! I have 2,3,7, and 9 after 2 plus years of no shot.... If everybody lists by number we could tally them... of course it would not do any good because, even with the 3,000 or so responses on Meds chat Prolia site responses, no one would listen...
Yes hair loss skin problems back and joint pain. I tolerated 7 shots before doing some research on Prolia! It was a horrible drug for me, a form of chemotherapy! Same drug they are using for bone cancer patients. I wish I had been given all the horrible side effects of Prolia, I would have never taken it! I have permanent damage from this drug, chronic back, joint and muscle pain. And hair loss still! Poison for me personally! I hope this helps others to not have to suffer like I have from Prolia!
Re: Gloria (# 446)
Check out Worst Pills .org and see what they have to say about Prolia...bottom line is DO NOT TAKE IT.
Re: Sue (# 452)
I am not going to lie things DON’T get better. It has been a few years since my last injection and I haven’t had a good day since. Good luck!
Re: Sue (# 452)
Had 1 shot-- within two weeks was shedding hair like a dog. Have not had a shot in 3 years. Hair looks normal again but I still shed. I have not used a hair brush since the first shot. I use a comb with large wide teeth and body building shampoos.
Re: Sue (# 456)
The one that worked the best was Phyto Source Syntress Volumizing lift shampoo by Nexus.. which is now unavailable and I can't find it anywhere. However OGX Thick and Full Biotin & Collagen does pretty well - it is not too expensive - purple bottle. I use a mousse when drying my hair which also gives it some oomph.. I just buy any mouse that says "volumizing" . I am not Farrah Fawcett but I am presentable...
Re: Sue (# 458)
We just have to remember that we are still ourselves and battle the feeling that Prolia's side effects rob us of our identity... which, I know is easier said than done. The potential for tooth loss is even more frightening.. but at least that is listed in the side effects so you can make an informed decision before starting the drug. They have yet to list hair loss as a side effect.
Re: Mustang (# 462)
I was told the same thing about side effects. I did Forteo and then my doctor prescribed Prolia. It’s been several years and I have never felt good since, one issue after another. My biggest issue is hair lost it was so bad I needed a hair net when cooking. The last time I saw the doctor he wanted me to do Reclast Infusion. I haven’t been back that was 4 years ago. I take vitamins and do my best to not fall. One lesson I learned I research all my medications.
