Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 10) (Top voted first)

Updated

I've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?

It was listed on my Medicare bill as a chemotherapy drug. That is when we went on this site to find out I wasn't the only person who was losing their hair by the handfuls since the Prolia shots started. I was never told that the shot was causing the hair loss. I was told it was OLD AGE!

Karen~that's what I was told too but we are losing too much for just old age. That is why we have to have hair follicles checked well by a Dermatologist to make sure they are capable of starting to regrow hair, not having A. Alopecia. I know it cannot be 'old age' because my brother is 7 years older than I and he still has nice hair. I do not after Prolia. Then, reading the published medical paper about A. Alopecia did it. That is why we have to check with our Dermatologists to make sure we are capable of starting new hair growth. Be well~Pood

Yes, there is a published medical paper by 3 doctors that caused a male using Prolia to go bald when his genetics showed it to be IMPOSSIBLE. I would like to know who 'they' are that may be representing us in this regard against Amgen. So far, we are hunting down attorneys that may take a legal case. I've been searching for two years and so has Diana. So far we are at zero unless one has a broken femur.

I'm still losing hair 7 months after my shot (first & only); I've actually been losing more this past week. The hair loss seems to go in cycles. Very unhappy my doctor recommended this med & with the side effects.

Hi Shirley,
My hair has been falling out, and you are probably right, I had one injection of prolia and I will never do that again. My hair used to be nice and lots more of it now it is very thin and when I hold my hair it is like half of it is missing. This company should state that it can cause hair loss. All these people including myself should sign something to have this company compensate for the hell it put us through.

Re: Sunshine (# 184) Expand Referenced Message

I too had my first Prolia shot at the end of July and since then have lost over half of my head of hair. It falls out everywhere, also terrible vertigo, headaches and itchy scalp. I wish I had seen the side effect list or had found this site before I had the injection. No more for me as hair loss is so distressing, being bald frightens me. I cannot stop thinking about it as hair is falling out around me all the time. I also have had 9 fractures of the spine so really need some form of treatment. Amgen have a lot to feel guilty about by not disclosing the hair loss side effects and hopefully this will be remedied if enough people complain.

After my second prolix shot I lost nearly all my hair. I had some loss while on fossamax also. I also have back pain and dry skin which is not normal for me and have developed hip pain in both hips. No more prolia for me.

Re: Poodle (# 179) Expand Referenced Message

Hi. I have now lost nearly all of my hair through the Prolia injection, plus many other side effects, some quite distressing. I reported it to my doctor, chemist, FDA and submitted a report on the Yellow card mhra.gov.uk. If everyone who suffers from these problems reports it to these people something may be done about it to save others from suffering the same fate. Cost of specialist dermatologist, wigs, etc, now nearly £500. Amgem have a lot to answer for. It seems to happen to so many people that they cannot keep denying it.

Re: Sad Lady (# 196) Expand Referenced Message

Question please. When you consulted with your Dermatologist, did s/he tell you that the hair follicles on your scalp are permanently closed? If not, there is help and it comes from an assortment of supplements if and I mean IF you can eat large meals. They have to be taken 3 times/day and I have found them to be quite difficult for my tummy. I have my hair short with handfuls of mousse to make it look a lot more than it is and then an additional product on top of that. I can get by to please 'my vain self' as Diana O. stated it. Please let me know because there is a Medical Paper by two MD's in the USA wherein Prolia caused A. Alopecia in a male when it was totally contrary to his genetics. Be well~

Re: Poodle (# 197) Expand Referenced Message

Thanks for your help. I now wear a wig as I have virtually nothing left. I am seeing the consultant next week and will find out, one way or the other, about regrowth. The side effects are so many and so nasty that people should be informed. At night my legs and feet are either numb or tingling so I cannot sleep. Nothing seems to help, and with the vertigo and ear problems, its a nightmare. I will post the result next week,.

Yes i have. I could not tolerate the other meds. Has anyone dealt with feet, legs and ankles swelling along with all the hair loss and pain. Could it be due to the Prolia shot?

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Yes. I have been on Prolia for about 2 years. My hair is thinning a lot, mostly on one side. It just occurred to me today that the only difference in my life since this started happening is Prolia. It is really helping, but I hate losing my hair. Nancy

Re: Poodle (# 12) Expand Referenced Message

Just to let people know that I had 4 shots of Prolia for two years and I suddenly lost all my hair in just a week. No eyebrows, no eye lashes. No more prolia for me. It worked very good on my bones but I'm devastated and hope that by stopping it, I 'll regain my hair back. I also want to know about the "Reclast" inj. every year. Anybody out there had it, to please respond. Thanks.
