Anyone in the know whether or not progesterone creme can be helpful in men with prostate maladies? ## I climax early and my sperms are not strong/powerful and they are eaching as if they"ve got an acid, so my partner doesn't fill anything. what can I use to stop that? ## @Bob, From what I've been reading, Progesterone is actually vital for maintaining good health in men. But when we get older we don't produce as much, which may be linked to various prostate problems... depending on the underlying cause of it. Diet plays an important role too. Because we don't know the underlying cause of your prostate maladies, I think deciding on whether or not to supplement with Progesterone would be probably better determined by a combination of you and your doctor or urologist...

I am 49 years old .I did not get my period for 4 months and now I got them for over 15 days with no sign of reduction . I have tried sylate 500 mg it has not helped. I am G6PD deficient please advice, I have had 2 D&C done for the same problem.first 1 1/2 years ago and the second in AUG 2013. ## Hello, Nikki! How are you? This happens to some women during perimenopause. Not having your period for 4 months allowed the endometrial lining to build too thickly, because your estrogen levels most likely haven't dropped, yet… that's actually what the D&C does, it clears that excess lining out, so the bleeding stops. Have you consulted a doctor, again? You may need another D&C, or you may need to add progesterone back to your body to get this under control. ## thanks a...

I've been using pills for 8 yrs.I watched a health prog telling that long term use of it may increase the risk of breast cancer.is it true?I was worried so i stopped for a month but i want to take it again the following month.i am just waiting for my menstration to come.how many days after taking it will i be safe from getting pregnant?i just stop for one month only. ## Hello, Chic! How are you? There is some risk associated with taking any artificial hormones, such as this, but as to what they were talking about, they most likely meant the ones with high doses of estrogens, or people taking estrogen by itself. The risk is much lower in these types, because they contain both an estrogen and a form of progesterone, and the latter helps oppose the estrogen to prevent some of its negat...

I have noticed hair loss when shampooing hair. I was taking a pill c-triest.progesterone 2mg/100mg. Took for 6 months and got off of it for 3 months, Started taking again in January. Could any of this cause hair loss? ## Hello, Lily! How are you? Yes, the estrogens can cause hair loss, especially if they are the dominant hormone. That's actually why many women in perimenopause and menopause experience hair loss, when you don't ovulate each month, or stop ovulating, you don't produce as much progesterone, but you are always inundated with estrogens. You may want to speak to your doctor about making some dosage adjustments, such as raising the progesterone and/or lowering the estrogens. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for your help.

Hi im a 21 yr old girl. Im just 46 kg n really slim with sort of underdeveloped body. I have heard that taking progestron 5mg for a few days can help gain body weight n and size. my periods are almost regular always. wt are the posible side effects ? is it safe do take the tab for this reason ? wil be having heavier n painful menustration periods ? pls help. ## Hello, Blue Lady! How are you? And no, this will not do that. It contains Progesterone and that is not the hormone that causes weight gain. Additionally, it would throw off your natural hormones and could cause irregular bleeding and an irregular cycle. How tall are you? What do you mean by undeveloped? Have you consulted your doctor for assistance?

use of sifasi injection during 6 week pregnancy ## Hello, Saurabh! How are you? It is used to help increase your level of HCG to help maintain the pregnancy. If you aren't producing enough naturally, it can increase your risk of miscarriage. How are you? This is a form of the hormone progesterone, having enough of it is vital to your ability to get pregnant and carry a baby to full term. By having you use it for a few days a month, your doctor is trying to help you increase your chances of getting pregnant, so you should use it as instructed. Is there anything else I can help with?

Since it is a hormone, yes, those side effects are quite normal, but they should taper off, once you finish your course of the medication. Have you spoken to your doctor about your concer...

My OB/GYN says this will not cause weight gain and prior to hormone replacement therapy I had developed a bigger stomach w/a pretty sudden gain of 15 pounds. After starting these meds my weight went down and I'm 5 lbs. over my norm but still thin except for my stomach. I hate the fat that has accumulated there and a bit in the pubic region, it is depressing me terribly. HATE my body and nothing, exercise nor diet does a thing (considered underweight by all). What is it and what can I do? ## Hello! How are you? Sorry about the problems that you're having. Weight gain in that area of your body and nowhere else is usually attributable to the hormonal imbalance. It generally occurs when you're ratio of progesterone to estrogen is out of whack, like being low in progesterone and ...

Hi, i am 20 weeks pregnant and my doctor prescribed Dubagest 200 twice daily from 4th week till now. pls tell me till which month does it safe to take this medicine. ## Hello, Shweta! How are you? Congratulations on the pregnancy! Dubagest contains the hormone progesterone, it is vital to a healthy pregnancy and being able to carry the baby to full term, that's why you're doctor has prescribed it. It's often supplemented if a doctor has reason to suspect that a woman may not be producing enough on her own, so he's prescribed it to protect both you and your baby. Thus, you should take it for as long as your doctor has instructed you to do so. Learn more Dubagest details here. Are there any other questions or concerns?

hi im deepthi.. Im using vtamin e capsules .. Daily one capsule for muscle strength. I gave birth to a baby now he is 4 months old. I hav lot of hairfal and my skin texture became so dull.. Please tell me how this vit e capsules help me for hairfal and skin ## Hello, Deepu! How are you? Congratulations on your son! :-) The changes to your hair and skin are normal for having given birth just a few months ago. Its because you build up so much of the hormone progesterone, while you're pregnant, then it suddenly drops off, when you go into labor. In a few more months, as your body recovers and your hormones rebalance, things will start to go back to normal. The vitamin E is good for your skin and it may help a little there, but it won't do anything for the hair loss. As I said, that...

How are you? What dosage were you expecting to be prescribed? Norethisterone is a synthetic progesterone hormone and when used like this, the intent is to basically replace the amount missing from the body, then have a sudden withdrawal of it, to induce a period.

I am 60 yrs old and have been menopausal 2 yrs. A hysterosonography Aug. 7, 2013 revealed I have hyperplasia (thickened uterus wall). I had 2 days very light spotting in June and I am scheduled for a DNC in mid November. My Dr. prescribed Progesterone to take orally 1 per day. I asked her if I could use Prometrium - the botanical based "natural" alternative to synthetic hormones. She said yes. I just picked up my prescription and it was for Progesterone 200 mg. The pharmacist said Prometrium is just another name for Progesterone and is no longer manufactured? This is not what I have researched and is it true Prometrium is no longer manufactured? I am obese, have a slight thyroid condition for which I take Synthroid and I also take meds for hypertension. I am very reluctant to ta...

is pcos good in treating for pcos? i used Diane 35 at start. as it cause side affects my doctr perscribed Femilon. how its treatment on pcos work? will it be sucessful? ## Hi, Dania! How are you doing? Femilon is just another hormonal contraceptive, so the only way to see if it will work for you is to try it for a few months and see what happens. It will most likely cause side effects, as well, since it also contains synthetic hormones. PCOS/PCOD usually does well by replacing antioxidants in the body, adding vital nutrients and progesterone. What type of symptoms are you having from the PCOS? ## I started using femilon on the 3 day after my periods are done. I am I protected my femilon , can you please let me know , as I finished the packet 2 days back , but haven't got the periods...

If you are lacking in it, it can cause some of the types of problems that you are experiencing. Luprid and HCG are both basically used for the same thing, to support a healthy pregnancy or increase your chances of becoming pregnant, because HCG is something that you normally produce in large amounts, while pregnant....

Hello doctor I'm 28 years old in my 13th week of 1st pregnancy. My doc has advised me to take gestin 5 mg tablets thrice a day. I was taking hcg5000 injections before twice a week. I just wanted to know the reason for high dose of gestin and any side effects I should expect. And just borderline thyroid. Rest I'm healthy. ## Hi, Aditi! How are you? Gestin contains a synthetic form of the hormone progesterone, which is vital to a healthy pregnancy and being able to carry a baby to full term. Thus, your doctor is just trying to ensure that you have enough of it to carry the baby for the full 9 months. Side effects may include nausea, headache, mood swings and irritability. A year ago my doctor prescribed me lo loestrin while I was on the pill some months I would have a period and another ones I wouldn't, she said that it was normal. I stopped taking the pill a month ago. After I stopped taking the pill (like 2- 3 days after it I got my period) my period was supposed to arrive again 3-4 days ago... My period has always been very irregular (with or without the pill) I'm wondering why my period is late ... Also a week ago I had a secretion as if I was in the 15th day of my period ... So does the ovulation start late once you're not taking the pill? My BF and I have been using condoms but just in case I did a pregnancy test and it was negative. Is it accurate? ## They are hormonal based contraceptives, so the irregularities while you are taking th...

And really, as long as you are still suffering from it, some type of hormonal therapy is the only thing that's going to help regularize your cycle. Have you consulted your doctor? You may benefit from just supplementing your progesterone and vitamin D, since they are both usually low in PCOD/P...

My wife was done tubligation in 2009 after delivering twins, but in july 2011after loosing one of the twin daughters, she started getting irregular, heavy and clotted menstrual periods. She visited a Dr. In 2011 who gave her an emergency prescription of sylate + onother drug that we cannot recall by now, the bleeding stoped, but it has resumed after 2years now but as per my observation, this probkem seems to occur when she is stressed. Kindly advise. Regards ## Hi, Tallman! Sorry about the issues that your wife is having and for the loss of your child. And it makes sense that it may recur, whenever she is stressed, the irregular cycles, with heavy bleeding and clotting are usually caused by a lack of progesterone, which can happen as she ages and may not ovulate each month.
