Prepopik Laxative (Page 8) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHas anyone in the US used this yet for colonscopy and what did it cost?
What time was your test? Mine is at 7:30 am tomorrow. I last ate at 5am this morning
I was worried to when I was delayed on my prep. Everything seemed that I was getting cleaned but I was perfect. I drank more than just water though. I needed some electrolytes to keep my blood levels normal. I was nervous goung in because it was nothing compared right my prep 10 years ago but I was sooooooo cleaned out. Keep drinking and all should be good. I was surprised too!!!! Soooooo much better than the Supreps taste. Easier to get down and more tolerable for my taste buds :) I didn't Even pay but $14. Well worth it
As much as prepopik costs-it was so absolutely positively worth it. This was my third colonoscopy and by far the easiest. The taste didn't linger on my tongue and it was only 5 ounces. It tasted like an orange lemonade. I started my first dose after work around 5 and by 8 it had started. I woke up at 3 for my 7 am procedure and they removed two polyps. Worth $40!!!!!! I know I'll take it next time too... in 3 years
Has anyone been told not to use tap water? I am getting ready for my second procedure and remember being told last time to use only bottled SPRING water. Thought I would share. At a moment like this...the Nirvana label brings a chuckle.
I have never heard of anyone being told that. That makes no sense especially since you mention spring water which is not necessarily that pure. It also doesn't say that on any websites. I think you might be mistaken in what you are thinking.
Agree on the cold water!!!! I was super surprised of how it tasted. Not what I was used to in the past. I did my last one 5 years ago and kept dreading to go see a Gastro because I thought the drinking of the gallon was the worse. Times have changed and I tell all my friends that are due to get a colonoscopy that Prepopik was the easiest and it tasted like orange lemonade. I didbt use the restroom after my first dose for a few hours but I was clean. Highly recommend Prepopik and I only paid $17 with tricare :)
I start my prep today, but unlike everyone else here it seems my prep is slightly different.
My prep sheet says to take Dulcolax at noon (in 2 1/2 hours) then at 6pm use the first packet of Prepopik followed by 5 8oz drinks over 3 hours. Then at 9pm use the 2nd pack followed by 3 8oz drinks over 3 hours.
I will say I am completely nervous, but slightly alleviated due to the reviews I have read on the stuff. I'm hoping it goes by without any problems, such as vomiting, or not taking effect until early in the morning before my prep (which is at 9am). I am assuming that the Dulcolax kind of gets things started, while the Prepopik finishes the job in this set up.
As for cost, mine ended up only being $10 with my insurance.
I have never heard of anyone where it didn't work. It is not as fast and as intense as some o the others. I have a very slow system so added Dulcolax but that usually isn't necessary. Is this a routine colonoscopy? You need to discuss this with your doctor.
It did end up working but 24 hours later. Had to cancel procedure. When it did work it lasted hours. Anything I eat goes right through me. I wish I would have been told to use the duculex with it. I haven't spoken with the doctor yet. Will have to reschedule today. The one positive about the prep is the taste. But I would be nervous to use it again. I would have to start the prep and fast 2 days before
I did my colonoscopy today and it was by far the easiest prep I have ever done!!!! I drank a lot of water too though. I do recommend drinking a lot of fluids the day of. I read a lot of information online and everything said the more fluids the better. I am glad that it's over and I have 10 years until my next one :) cost me $32
If this prep makes you sick I don't know what you could use as the others are much worse. You should stop taking it and call your doctor. Maybe you are allergic to something in it. You should not be throwing up with this little amount unless you are allergic or you are having anxiety.
I was advised by a pharmacist to take the second dose because vomiting is a side effect. I threw up twice, and I went to the bathroom once after the first dose. I took my second dose at 6 am. Prepopik seems to work slowly. I hope I'm able to empty my colon prior to my procedure. It's at 2:45 pm. I'm going to ask my doctor if I can take a different prep the next time.
Easy, efficient, mild. I had no problems & didn't experience any negative effects..
It's just a side effect. I guess tolerance varies.
Hi, I took this last night for my first colonoscopy. I have nothing to compare it to, but I would take it again- I couldnt believe how easy and relatively gentle it was. I took the first dose at 1PM, and within a half hour I had some slight gas and my first bowel movement. Over the next 5 hours, I probably went four or five times. There was no cramping, pain or other side effects (although I did have a very slight headache). I was nervous because I am very sensitive to medicine (I'm a 119 lb 30 year old female). Took the second dose at 6, was running clear at this time and probably went five or six quick times by 9 PM, again without cramps. At no point was I on the toilet for longer than 1 minute.
I did go an additional few times between 9pm and midnight, and once again at 6 am, 6:30 and twice when I got to the hospital, but the dr said I was perfectly clear. This worked wonderful as I was so scared about side effects. It was $50 with my insurance, but in my opinion well worth it. It was not half as bad as I feared it would be!
I just used this prep, despite my doctor's order for an onerous Miralax/Ducalex/enema combo. I said no way and did this instead. Two small glasses of a very tart lemonade type drink, spaced by 6 hours. No cramps, no mad scrambles to the bathroom. Doc said the prep worked great and is considering switching his protocol.
did you experience any heartburn or reflux? i can't even take tylenol on an empty stomach so i'm concerned about taking a prep with 12 grams of citric acid.
Prepopik is the bomb! Easiest prep ever. Starts working within the hour and in no time u are clean. Pleasant taste and small amount. No cramping or nausea for me, unlike magnesium citrate. Had many colonoscopies and by far this has been easiest!
I completed my prepopik last week and it was not as bad as my first two. The taste wasn't bad either!!!!!!i paid $40
For it too. The easiest part was the dosing sheets. I marked off after I drank my 8 ounces so I knew how much I had left to drink. By far the easiest prep I have ever taken. Did get a little nauteas after second dose but think it's because I dudht have aby food in my stomach. Overall dr said I dont have to do another one for 10 more years.
