Plavix And Leukemia (Page 3)

Is there a connection? My husband received 2 stents, one in October 2008 and a medicated one in November 2008. He was then placed on Plavix. In November 2009 he was diagnosed with AML leukemia, he passed away 6/2010 at the age of 56. There was no obvious reason for him to get leukemia, it is rare for someone that young to have AML. We know that his heart disease was genetic. He was very health conscious, always ate healthy, exercised and was in great physical condition. I have read little tidbits about Plavix causing bone marrow damage and am wondering if there are other Plavix patients that have or had Leukemia. Thanks, Chris
at the age of 44 I had a blockage requiring a stint and was then put on Plavix, since that time since that time I have developed neuropathy, leukemia and now myelodysplastic syndrome. I am now 51 and not doing well..is it possible Plavix has been the cause of my problems??
My father was diagnosed with AML-M6 and think Plavix was the cause.
Good luck with your treatment.
Oh Art!
I am so sorry. Thank you for posting on here. Every person that we hear from will help. I hope we will soon get someone's attention. Best of luck with you treatments. I will be praying for you---Chris
I was started on PLAVIX with my first stent in 2000.
My White Blood Count (WBC) went <4 12/08, <3 10/10 and <2 8/11. I was just diagnosed with AML-M6 Leukemia and will start treatment next week. I don't know if there is any tie between Plavix and Leukemia but the word needs to get out to watch out
ok...thank you. I will call them tomorrow.
also...everyone please make sure you notify the FDA of your story. They need to hear from each of us. You can do it all from their website.

Im so mad after reading all these post my dad has been on plavix for years after suffering a heart attack had 7 bypasses and 7 more stints and just this past week was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia and they have told us he has weeks to live....Why wasnt we told about all of this WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT this I am absolutely sick...I just cant believe this!
I wish I knew the answer to your question. I believe that the plavix is the reason that my husband got AML. but I so far have no proof of this.
I am so sorry that you are going through this. I will keep you both in my prayers. I will also post on this site if I have any updates.
My husband has had CLL(Large granular lymphocytic leukemia) for 16 years. He had a stent put in 5/31/12. He is on PLAVIX and his blood levels are getting worse. They've been low but stable until now. Could it be the Plavix causing this? No other changes were made to medications.
Dr.'s are trying B12 shots and doing more tests right now. Low white blood cells(1.9), low red blood cells (2.79), low hemoglobin (10.7), low neutrophils (0.9)and platelets, while normal are coming down(30 points in one month). He is 68 years old. Tired and gets dizzy when standing up sometimes. He's on cyclosporine for leukemia.
Sorry I meant to write that my mother passed in June of 2010......
Chris, I feel for you and am sorry for your loss. My father was only 58 when he passed from colon cancer.....my mom was 56 at the time. So I know how young you are to go thru this loss. I know its hard to imagine, but the next 20 years will hold much happiness for you, and your husband will be there beside you always. take care
Angie,
I am so so sorry to hear about your sister. I will be praying for your family.
Ruth,
You are very correct...we all need to be reporting our experiences with the FDA. I hope everyone is doing that. And, great find on the Attorney. I am going here right now. I have been contacted by many law firms but they only want to deal with Plavix and Bleeding cases. I hope someone pays attention soon. It has been 2 years ago this month since my husband died at 56 years old.
I am so glad people are still reading all this!---Chris
hey everyone, I just found a law firm that is on the PLAVIX trail.

Chris, this recent post by Angie regarding her 36 year old sister really upsets me. This should be a huge red flag to the makers of PLAVIX and the FDA. Let me know if you ever find and lawyer interested in pursuing this. Today is my mom's 78th birthday.......and she isn't here to celebrate because of the AML she passed of in June 2012. She was on PLAVIX for two years.....
Angie, my mother took Plavix for two years and also got AML. We actually lost her in June of 2010 as there were few options for her at 75 years old. I always felt that the Plavix caused the AML and posted here long ago. I am so sorry to hear that your sister has been diagnosed. There are many more options for her thank God, as she is young. Don't forget to check out the Gerson Therapy also (nutritional therapy). With your sister only being 36, I feel this is a huge red flag that Plavix is causing the leukemia in patients. Please file a complaint/report with the FDA. I filed one when my mother passed. They NEED to hear about the PLAVIX- leukemia connection, and how many people have been affected. I will be thinking of and praying for your sister.
My sister was diagnosed with AML 3wks ago and had been taking plavix for 6 years. She is only 36 and has two small children. A cardiologist at the hospital where she was treated asked about her taking plavix and a possible link between plavix and leukemia
