Pharmacist Refusing To Fill My Script Of Suboxone. What Do I Do??? (Page 9) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI wet to my doc 7 days early because of running out early. I took my new script to pharmacy and said, this is early so I won't be using insurance. My doc said you can call him if necessary. Well no one wanted to. They filled two per day for three days. On the third day I asked to fill the rest on insurance for the next day. I was one day early. When I called the next morning to have my daily two filled the pharmacy manager said no we won't be filling it for another 5 days. Go to the ER for your withdrawals but don't come here because I won't give it to you. Has this happened to anyone else????
Are you in the US?? We have it good in Australia, if you behave, give clean u/a's, etc and dont act like a junkie, the pharmacist or dosing clinic will treat you like a normal human being. My pharmacist knows that both me and my partner work, he asks about my kids, we have a good chat, all because I turn up every month (pick up a month's supply), I never run out (I take 4 mg less than my doctor thinks I do), so I always have surplus, and I don't try to pick up early or anything like that. It's ALL about how you act, how you treat them. Sorry, but that's they way it is, it's exactly like methadone, people (including pharmacists) will have their prejudices and opinions so of course they immediately make the connection between someone on sub/methadone and drugs. It's unfortunate but that's the way it is. Before I was sent to monthly pick-ups at pharmacy, I was picking up weekly at our methadone clinic (but picking up suboxone). I would regularly see people turn up after being on drug binges for 3 or 4 days and throw tantrums etc because they wouldn't dose them, because they had been MIA for 3 or 4 days. Of course they won't dose them. Treat the system right and it will do the same to you. Here in Australia we are VERY lucky from what I have heard, I pay only $25 for a full month's supply of my sub (12mg per day), from what i have heard it's much more expensive in US? How much do you pay?? I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I'm really interested, being 70 years old do you find any side-effects from the suboxone? I'm 40, don't really notice any, (apart from no libido and better sleep) but I always find myself thinking about how I'll feel on it if I'm still on it in 20-30 years. (probably will!). Have a good day.
Hi Michael and dawn
I don't know what is going on with publix! But I'm also taking suboxone 8/2mlg. I take two a day and I don't have insurance either. I use Walgreens and as bad as that place gets on my nerves sometimes I can get as many or as few as I want and I pay about 9$ apiece. I usually get ten at a time every 5 days. I'm in Tennessee so prices may be a little different but publix is raping you. The only problem I have sometimes is depending on who I talk to to call in my partial refill they will either let me pick it up on the day I am to take my last dose or if the person I talk to is suffering from a God complex I may have to pick it up that morning that I'm out to take my morning dose. Either way it's been working for me for 3 years. Good luck:) Blondie:)
Thank you so much I really appreciate you taking the time to write us back have a blessed holiday.
Hi, I really feel for you. I also was never told about the addictive qualities of Suboxone, my doc told me it was like a new "wonder drug" that had just come out and it was unlike Methadone in that it was NOT addictive. Seven years later, here I am still on it. Got to be a legal suit in there doesn't there??!!! I too, wonder at age 40, how I am EVER going to get off this stuff, it can only get harder as I get older, so I will prob still be on it when I'm 70 too. Don't beat yourself up, just look at it as a medication you have to take everyday, just like others take heart medication, cholesterol medication everyday, to keep their quality of life. We do the same. Best of luck to you.
I'm so sorry that's weird. I just came across this. Generally my doc will write me a one month prescription but I'm seen every 28 days but get 30 days worth. I never had a problem but today my appt was 7 days early and I took my script to the pharmacy and they don't ask any questions but said my insurance denied it because it was too early. I told them I'd just pay cash but they said they would have to call my doctor which they did and he said it was ok so the pharmacy called my insurance company back and was actually able to get an override and they paid for all but 30 dollars worth!!! That sucks your having to deal with that. I would say change pharmacies. Sounds like they are just a**holes. I've never had a problem like that and am generally a few days early.
Jaime, I know you posted this 3 years ago... I hope you are doing well... I just wanted to let you know that you have to be real careful about the things you post on here about. You shouldn't leave suboxone around that your 18 month old was able to pick them up and throw them out.. Also, you shouldn't mention that you wish that the lady who had extra subs each month that she lived closer...

Because it's obviously bs. Knowing suboxone dissolves in the mouth it was completely irresponsible of her to leave them out. Her baby could've died. However I don't believe the story to begin with. She obviously took more than prescribed or sold them.
I have often thought about launching a legal case against the makers of Suboxone (Reckitt Benckiser) as myself, a man I know here in Australia, plus a few people on this forum have all said that it was described as being "non-addictive". What a joke. Thinking back, oh how I would love to be back in that doctor's office, I would HAPPILY choose to go through the week's withdrawal from opiates and be done, than go through the MONTHS of withdrawals off this stuff, it's hell. My doctor spruiked it to me as being like a wonder-drug, told me it was non-addictive, and here I am, nearly 8 years later still taking it. Can't go a day without it. And that's not so much the physical symptoms, it's the mental side of it. Anyway, I have no idea how I would even go about legal proceedings but I think about it all the time!!!
This is nothing more than bad pharmaceutical practice and should be reported to the relevant authorities such as the Pharmaceutical Board.
I too ran out of Suboxone over a weekend thinking I had another refill as my doc had increased my dose (but not noticed my pharmacist accordingly).
This is when you discover that the drug store and doctors are nowhere to be seen.
Disgraceful bad practice. Unprofessional.
Please furnish me with the name of one thing that is non addictive.
You'd be doing the work a huge favour.
Even chocolate is addictive!
I'm really sorry that happened to you, it seems no matter what a pharmacy and pharmist see a suboxin or subtext script your judged from the get go no matter what your medical condition is!!:(. It's discrimination and wrong no matter how you got to the point of being on bup your put into the junky category bulls##t. There are now many different reason and situations why people take bupenopin so yes I have personally been looked at like a junky for being on the same meds!!:(. I'm sorry but for anyone to be put on strong opiates for a long time are going to have problems no matter who you are it happens to every human. If it does not than your special or not normal haha. I'm talking 10 years plus on strong opiates fentaynal & O.C 24/7. Wish I was never put on that medication problely wouldn't have this imbalance of brain chemicals. But everyone works different as far as the brain goes. Sorry for long response but I do get it and it's sad.
No I went to dentist last week n had got the script of pain med n had it filled and scene I had insurance medicaid they said I had to use it to get the pain med n now I'm wondering if I'm going to b able to have my medicaid pay for my suboxone at the beginning of the month r can I pay cash for just some of them
Husband is a long time suboxone user it turned his life around.. In fact it gave him a new life his dr of 4 years cut him an is still charging him a ridiclous fee so my husband is seeing a new dr tomorrow. My question is...is this ok? He pays out of pocket but uses insurance to fill script. He tried being honest in pursue of a new doc but the prices were all to high. So now hes seeing the new dr as a "new" patient. Any advice?
Maybe they are referring to the fact that any opiate, whether it be synthetic, natural or even a replacement therapy such as methadone or suboxone, generally all these drugs imitate and replace the natural dopamine levels in your brain. That's why when you stop using them, you generally feel quite depressed as your brain has forgotten how to make this chemical on it's own, and is reliant on the synthetic input. I don't know if that's the chemical imbalance you are asking about??
I have to go through 7 days early tomorrow what do I do
Sisi , he isn't going to be able to go to two different drs and get two different prescriptions. It doesn't matter if he pays cash for one and insurance pays for the other one of how they are paid. Each state has a Prescription Monitoring Program and drs and pharmacists can look patients up and see exactly what meds they have gotten filled, who the dr was, and all of the details. If he is seeing two drs one of the drs is going to find out and dismiss him. It is highly doubtful that the pharmacist will let him get the prescriptin from the second dr filled, although it might depend on when he got his prescription from his regular dr last filled. If he is able to get the prescription from the new dr filled, he won't be able to get the next one from the new dr filled.
Ok i was living in poconos of pa,, and gettinf percocet scrip for my back drom my primary doctor 3 yrs then move to philly but keep my doctor in the poconos then while in philly someone rold me bout suboxine clinics so i qas getting both ro tell u the teuth both was heloing my pain not thinkung anything wronf i never told my pill doctor bc. He never ask ,until he took a urine first time since going to him so my thing is was it illegal can i get in trouble pill doctor dont see me anymore nd call rite aide there and philly corporate office now they wont feel my suboxines scrip ,what do i do ,um confuse
Mr confuse, the dr knew what prescriptions you were getting filled, that is why he did the U/A. You can try going to another pharmacy to get your Suboxone filled. You will not be able to find another dr that will prescribe you percocet. Your Suboxone dr may or may not continue to treat you.
Mr Confuse, I am afraid you have "shot yourself in your foot" by doing what you have done. There are checks done everywhere, all the time these days as unfortunately, pharmacists and doctors don't trust drug users (current or past) as far as they could throw us......you will be lucky to be prescribed anything at all. Good luck with it thought, I do wish you the best, but honestly, you can't beat the system, you just have to play by the rules. Getting what you need prescribed off one doctor, is MUCH better than not getting anything at all.
I've been trying to get my suboxone filled fir days. Every where I go I'm looked down at n no one had it or they have to many people taking already n aren't taking new patients. This is horrible! I live n chilhowie va n it makes me feel like giving up
