Though it isn't always listed in the name, or on the label by your pharmacy, all medications have an additional designation that shows the chemical salt they are derived from, such as hydrochloride. I have Afib and was prescribed amox clav 875 for an upper respertory infection, I was wondering if it was safe to take it. ## Hi deb, According to the FDA, the only contraindications listed for Amoxicllin and Clavulanate Potassium are in patients who have a history of allergic reactions to penicillin, as well as patients with a history of "associated cholestatic jaundice hepatic dysfunction"; neither of which pertain to A-fib in my understanding. And odds are if your doctor prescribed it then you should be fine. However it's always a good idea to ask your doctor for a second opinion before taking anything that you're unsure about. Does stilpane or pacacetamol have penicillin ## Stilpane contains 320mgs of Paracetamol, 8mgs of Codeine, 32mgs of Caffeine and 150mgs of Meprobamate. Thank You... ## Hi Bruce, To answer your question, Penicillin and Amoxicllin are both related, so if I stand correct the risk of having an allergic reaction IS still possible. However, because not all allergens cross over, there are rare cases where someone may take one or the other without experiencing the same allergy. Is it worth taking a chance though?
