Pending Recall Teva Generic Adderall March 2016 Actavis (Page 2)
UpdatedFor those that feel their Teva brand generic Adderall by Actavis Elizabeth aren't working or making them feel sick, you're right. It is for the 30 mg, 20 mg, 10 mg & 5 mg. Specific info here: fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/EnforcementReports/ucm310739.htm REASON FOR RECALL Failed Impurities/Degradation Specifications: Out of specification for impurities. RECALLING FIRM Actavis Elizabeth LLC, Elizabeth, NJ
Be aware, I have just been a victim of Teva Adderall. I got permission from my insurance to get Teva so called name brand. The NDC Code is 57844-20-01 mine was 20mg. IR. Cost 442.00 billed to my insurance. I called the FDA and was advised that this was indeed a generic with the code ANDA. They said all pharmacist should know that code but they are telling people it's name brand. It is listed under Teva Select Brands which mean nothing as far as being brand name. Teva is producing the old Barr B 974 imprint NDC Code 00555-0971-02. They have also purchased Actavis. I just got Sandoz 20mg from CVS. These also produced strong heart palpation. When I started Actavis in 2015 they were decent then they only lasted a couple of hours giving you a depressive crash. Then I found out there was a recall but decided the public did not have to be informed. Degradation and impurities. If you call Shire the original manufacturer they will also tell you Teva has brand. They are not worried their patent is about to expire. I had to stop using Shires 30mg xr because they started wearing off after about four to five hours. I just spoke with Federal Trade Commission today about what TEVA and drug stores were doing. The FDA code ANDA means a new drug application, Not name brand. I think a legal suit would put them in their place. Some may be able to withstand the high blood pressure but I couldn't.
If you got a pill imprint of B974 that's the old Barr produced now by TEVA, but the other Teva that they are calling brand (NDC code 57844-20-01) 20 mg will make you feel like your having a heart attack.
I can't do that on the phone but will try and find source. I think they called themselves Actavis Elizabeth. I think their NDC code was 45963-749-11. When all of this was going on Teva purchased that company also. I haven't checked since they were no longer available at any of our local drug stores. Actually even though they weren't consistent from batch to batch at least you could go to sleep at night.
You may can scroll through the Adderall section some one posted the link. It was from the FDA under safety recalls probably dextroamphetamines mixed salts. Activist, Elizabeth
Dear "Adderall User" and everyone else,
I am now receiving the manufacturer Sandoz, generic for Adderall, 30mg. I am experiencing numbing on the right side of my lips and tongue. Is that the same as burning tongue syndrome, as you stated in your comment on Wed. June 15, 2016, "Adderall User"?
Has anyone else ever experienced any numbing or tingling of the right side of your mouth, as if you've been to the dentist?! I've read all sorts of things it could be; Bell's palsy, a stroke, etc.
It just so happens that when the burning is really bad it does affect the right side of my tongue. It gets little rash like bumps on this area. I have been prescribed every mouth wash available. Right now I am seeing an allergist who has found food allergies and Thirum allergy. I do not think these allergies are what's causing the problem. When it actually started I was on Activist Adderall generic but started Teva's at this time also. My burning has gotten so bad I am on Percocet. I am now on the old Barr's imprint B 974 generic Adderall. I have noticed that when I take the Percocet with the Adderall I sometimes get relief. That may be due to anxiety being decreased . I also have been on massive doses of Diflucan in case it was yeast. I truly believe it has something to due with the inactive ingredients in these meds. It use to get bad around 11:00 am but now I am waking up with it burning. I researched everywhere and it's disheartening to read this could last ten years or more. If I find a cure I'll be sure to post it. Klonopin did not help.
I made a mistake in replying. My tongue does not get numb nor does my face. It's pure pain. Also I just got the Sandoz bottle of Adderall and it makes me feel like I am having a heart attack. It does interfere with blood circulation because my ankle and feet go numb like the blood is not reaching that area. Plus the Sandoz brand makes me feel like I am having a heart attack. The Barr produced now by Teva with imprint B 974 does not do this so be careful especially if you have any heart or blood pressure problem with this brand. For some reason mostly men do not get burning mouth like women do.
For those of you who can't find teva and feel like the new med is not as strong, you may need an increase in dose particularly if you were switched to Sandoz generics. This has been a long observed trend between the generics. FDA bioavailability requirements are between 80% and 120% of the listed dose. A switch from teva to Sandoz could therefore be as much as a 33% decrease in dose or a switch from Sandoz to teva could be as much as a 50% increase in effective dose.
I have also noticed a decline in teva potency over the years on their IR generic. The issues brought to light by the recall may be at the core of this observation as "degradation issues" essentially means breaking up the target molecule (the two isoforms of amphetamine) to other molecules which either may be inactive or have different biochemistry. If the biochemistry is different in the degradation products of the medication, this may also be at the root of any newly discovered side effects.
Personally I have found that the generic XR from teva had performed the most closely to the IR from before 2009-2010 (when many people began noticing a difference in performance which I believe may be due to teva'd acquisition of Barr (the company who originally produced the orange ovoid form of generic adderall). I have hypothesized why this may be considering the active form is the same though different manufacturing locations may be at the root of the issue. However I have never confirmed any of my suspicions given my reluctance to look this gift horse in the mouth after 4 years of underwhelming generic IR performance. Your physician can give you the equivalent XR script to cover a twice a day IR regiment, however a 3x per day regiment will still require one additional IR tab as your last dose for equivalent effectiveness.
Apologies for grammar/over simplification as I am typing this on my phone. Hope this clears a few things up and offers you all a different option for your medication.
Tin foil hat time: could teva purposely be producing underwhelming IR formulations to force the switch to the more profitable XR preparation? Next time you are at your pharmacy, ask them what the price difference between generic XR and IR is. You will be shocked.
Wow exactly the same thing happened to me. I have never had issues with grinding teeth before. I'm still on the orange teva 30mg and got my script filled today. They're much harder than they used to be. Took half and fell asleep 40 min later.
What's going on?
For many months now, the orange Teva 30mg tablets do not work for me. I also noticed that the tablets are much harder than they used to be, and I am tired less than an hour after taking. The formulation must be different, but the pharmacy claims they haven't received any other complaints. Has anyone found out the reason for the sudden ineffectiveness?
Yes I noticed that too! They are much harder than they used to be and not as effective.
Any idea of other generics?
Ok so what the hell am I suppose to do or what generic am I to seek out? I also have used Barr/Teva for years and have noticed since summer of 2016 something is off. Nausea, fatigue, general malaise, not feeling normal when on the med like I used to.
I got maybe Mylan or corepharm available to me at CVS, which I don't think they worked well for me in past. The pink round flat ones? 30mg ir is what I need. PLEASE SOMEONE W ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE SHARE WHICH GENERIC TO SEEK OUT In May of 2017!
They are gamers. Hustlers. Very bad choices these companies make. Not only the brands are different so is the time line of when made. It seems a joke. The benefit is not out weighing the negatives. We get punished and they still get paid.
Hungry, tired, not interested, thick chest pains, numbness, dizzy, grinding. Garbage
I have been on generic Adderall XR for 2 years; but last week a Walgreens pharmacist told me that they just sell generic Adderall of Prasco! Has anyone been on Prasco so far? I have to get some information about possible side effects. Thanks in advance.
Ok so I've been getting Teva from Walgreens and now WalMart 30mg IR and that seems to work for me. CVS had Corepharma. I'm in a Southeast borough of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Hi,
Could you please describe the Teva that you said that you're now getting?
Shape?
Color?
Markings?
The NDC code would be great.
Also, you said, "I also have used Barr/Teva for years and have noticed since summer of 2016 something is off. Nausea, fatigue, general malaise, not feeling normal when on the med like I used to. "
Is that medication the same as the one you are getting now?
If so, are those problems gone?
Are your ADHD symptoms under control with the medication that you're getting now?
Sorry for all the specific questions. I'm coming to the states for a visit, and I've got 2 weeks to try to find a generic Adderall IR medication that works.
Thank you
I can't say specifically if those symptoms I've had in past are directly related to Adderall due to other things like menopause, & arthritis that cause same symptoms. I realized this after my post and much inner turmoil over which brand to seek out. I feel the Teva (Barr in past)is the one I've taken most and same as past ones. It's orange oval "football" shaped. I don't have bottle w me so no code sorry. My dr told me to get Barr many years ago so I've stuck with them. I know the round pink kind never seemed as strong to me. It seems to be working ok for me now. I do think I was under dosing myself in attempts to be conservative and that did me no favors. 3-6 hours after taking 30mg I need another dose of 15mg and if I don't take or wait too long ,it's not as effective, like it needs to build onto intial dose. By end of day I can take 1/4 of 30mg or 7.5mg with Good effectiveness, if timed correctly. Hope this helps someone.
All of that was really helpful.
Thank you for the prompt and detailed answer.
What you said about the dosing makes complete sense, by the way. Amphetamines stay in your body for a very short time. (Thus the opportunity for Shire to create Adderall XR, which just releases half the amphetamines immediately and half after 4 hours.)
And if you weren't taking enough medication, it wasn't going to help you (or not enough).
Thanks again.
I've been taking peach oval b 973 20mg generic Adderall for 4 yrs.....worked great until March.....looked the same.... different taste.....felt hardly anything.... actually wondered if I just thought I took it, but forgot to......also nauseated.... depressed..... highly irritable..... Everyone noticed...... Everyone asked what's wrong? You're not Ur normal spunky self!?!?! It's definitely not the same as the last 4 years......tried white football R 351 20mg.....no better results.......has anyone found a better type that worked like the peach oval b 973 20mg I had gotten before they were Obviously changed????? Also lost my job because of my "new" attitude.......n irritability n lack of focus.....
Teva is its own manufacturer. Activis is a separate manufacturer. This person isn't talking about teva probably activis. I've heard bad things about their adderall.
