Hello all, First off I'm new to posting here and I must admit this is probably a topic that is quite frequent and I have done days searching but can't seem to really find any info on my specific situation. I apologize in advance for the long post but I will introduce myself and situation. I've been on oxycodone 10/325 for a little over a year now from a botched foot surgery and diabetic neuropathy in this same foot. It helps tremendously and seems to be the only relief I can get is from taking these. My husband, age 77, developed severe acute pancreatitis and has been in the hospital for the past 8 months. He has been on Fentanyl patches (the lowest dose) plus some extra fentanyl injections anytime the nurses thought he might be feeling pain. His pancreatitis healed in 3 months, but by then he developed a huge back bed sore. From the beginning, even when they were giving him morphine at the beginning, before the fentanyl patches, he developed breathing and sleeping problems, with intermittent rapid panicky breathing spells. My family doctor is no longer able to prescribe my pain medication, and has referred me to a pain management doctor that refuses to give me my medication and wants me to do physical therapy and injections that don't work and are expensive. So a friend of mine was trying to tell me that they make a 60,80 and 100mg IR oxycodone. Not ER oxycontin but IR, I told him he was crazy the highest mg they make for IR is the 30mg Roxicodone. He said they do make them in pill form but choose not to tell us about them because of the already crack down on opioids. In December I was in the hospital for 7 days for lung issues. I also have a lot of other issues with my back and kidneys. I my primary doctor has had me on noco for several years and sometimes when the pain is bad she gives me oxcodone to take in between for break though pain. In the end of December I had lipotripsy. The stone didn't break enough and I was in a great amount of pain so kidney doctor went ahead and done another lipotripsy 3 weeks earlier then he would have liked to. That was at the end of January. hello i have chronic back pain ive been on a bunch of pills and nothing seems to be working as of now im taking 4 percocets a day and this new thing called kadian 100 mg sustained release just asking what it compares to cuz i was just on hydro morph cotin 24 ml twice a day with 4 percocets just asking if this 100 mg kadian is just like a hydro cotin if it is like a hydro cotin what mg would my kadian 100 mg compare ## This is an old post, but kadian 100 is morphine - sustained release for 12 hrs- and is a very high dose. Hydromorphone is a stronger drug. You must have tolerance to high opioid doses to take Kadian 100 (or overdose is likely). I took it for years, but have gradually tapered down to 30 mg twice daily. It took about 2 yrs to taper that much.

I have been taking oxycontin for years for chronic back pain. Now I can't get any relief from pain because of the change. Is there any thing else I can take to stop the pain? I can't stand the pain and the new ones give me a headache. Like I need more pain. Come on and get real. I have a rare kind of polyneuropathy that affects my long nerves. I have had severe chronic pain for over 8 years. My pain doctor in Florida switched me from oxycontin to methadone because the oxycodone made it difficult to sleep. I recently moved to Mass. and so far the two doctors I've been to eliminated my breakthrough meds (oxycodone 30 mg. 4 times a day) and decreased my methadone from 140 mg a day (taken evenly in 10 mg a day) to 70 mg a day (10 mg. tabs throughout the day) and I am back to excruciating pain. I have a torn disc, herniated disc, buldging disc, dislocated collarbone, sciatica and carpal tunnel. I had the carpal tunnel surgery and sounal fusion to remove torn disc and replace with titanium rods and screws. The only meds that work is the ENDOCET 10/325 an Valium 2.5. Trying ALVOGEN today for the first time, literally 2 hrs ago. So far ok. HOWEVER, you all are correct. If the manufacturer is not good forget about it.
