I am prescribed 15 mg of roxicodone 3x a day. For about a week I have taken an extra 30 or so perc 5s. I gave a yrine test at my pain management dr's. in a week. Will tgey be able to tell the difference? ## When testing for the drugs in your system, then they both would be detected as the same thing, since they both contain Oxycodone as the active ingredient. I have been prescribed and taking oxycodone 10 hcl, 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Today saw my spine surgeon (nurse practitioner) to get a refill prescription and what I was given was oxycontin 10 mg extended release, the prescription says to take 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Isn't this too much from what I have been taking? My pain level has been maintained on the oxycodone 10 hcl every 6 hours along with tramadol 50 mg every 6 hours and neurontin 600 mg 4 times a day. ## No, it's still the same dosage of the relevant medication, because Oxycontin also contains Oxycodone. Hi all, my husband has been on Talwin nx for many years. In the past two years the cost has gone up and down like crazy. He started taking the generic but that too is so expensive (over $400 for 3 months). Wow I thought generics were suposed to be cheap. We had insurance up to last month and I have no idea how we are going to pay for his pills. He has an inhaler for asthma that is $900 for three months. I know some drug companies help if you can't afford the medication. My husband was very sick last week. He got a prescription for codeine cough syrup from the doctor. He went back to work yesterday and was randomly drug tested. He is not worried about it showing positive for codeine. He IS worried because he thinks he took more than was prescribed to him. Should he be worried? My daughter has been taking the blue pills for a year now. Would the capsule be a better choice so she can't snort them? ## A capsule would actually be easier to snort, since you just have to open them and pour out the powder, so there is not crushing involved like there is with a tablet. I was told to take one table twice a day. when is the brst time of day to take these? ## Timing is going to be different for everyone based on their specific dosing schedule and number of pills taken; but it seems as though the best approach for 24hr around-the-clock pain relief would be to take one in the morning and one in the evening. However, the usual adult dosage for this medication is one tablet every 6 hours as needed for pain. I hope this helps!

I received a red and white capsule and was told it was 30mg oxycodone is this true? I have seen all kinds of oxycodone but not this ## Hi Sandradee, There actually are red and white capsules containing Oxycodone; but not in a 30mg dosage. These capsules also contain Acetaminophen. The dosage I've seen for these specific pills are: Acetaminophen (500mg) + Oxycodone (5mg). Additionally, for verification, the national drug codes for these red and white capsules are: 00054-2795 and 00591-0737. Did you get this pill off the street by chance? That may explain a few things. I have been on Oxycontin for 18 months and have weaned myself off them. I am wanting to find out the long term side effects of the drug. would this be classified as oxycontin ? they are small pink pill--19mg ## Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone in a regular release formulation, so the equivalent without the Acetaminophen would be Roxicodone. OxyContin is a time released formulation. Additionally, there is no 19mg tablet. Are there any markings on the tablet in question? ## Oxycontin is simply an extended release version of Oxycodone. Without Acetaminophen though, Percocet would just be Oxycodone (immediate release). Is there an imprint on the pill you are describing? Is there a capsule and what does it look like? ## There are capsules, but they are not the equivalent of Roxicodone, which is a regular release formulation, the name brand for them is OxyIR and there are generic equivalents, these are instant release capsules in 5mg doses.
