I’ve had some degree of came off and on for over three years. I have been missed diagnosed twice and now have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. I’m not sure if anyone really knows what I have. I do not abuse my pain medication but the dose I am giving has not been enough to manage my pain. I am in level five or more 24 hours a day. I have tried talking to them many many doctors I have about getting me a good pain management doctor and I keep hearing that they are hesitant to prescribe opiates for fibromyalgia. They will prescribe it for anything else but not for fibromyalgia. I’m going to yet again another specialist at UCLA that supposedly specializes in fibromyalgia but I need to have a back up plan. Whatever this is that I have has caused me to have to use a walker and m...

What causes spondylolisthesis and what's the treatment for it? What is radiculopathy? Can I use Ibuprofen for pain rather than Tramadol to help preserve the liver? ## It is a dislocation of two vertebral bodies where 1 vertebrae slips forward in front of the other...VERY painful condition. Normally occurs in the lumbosacral region. Causes are degenerative conditions, prolapsed discs, failed back surgery, traumatic injury. Treatment is limited to surgical repair depending on the patient, history, degree of slippage, location etc. I suggest any surgical recommendations you get a 2nd opinion and even 3rd opinion. Mix it up and get a neurosurgeon opinion and orthopedic surgeon opinion. Pain Management is your only other option. This condition can be treated. The underlying problem must ...

Have the laws changed? I have been prescribed oxycodone 10 mg since 2009 by my family doctor because of spinal injuries and my new neurosurgeon says that new damage is not going to be helped by another surgery.. Do i now have to go strictly to a pain management doctor or can my family doctor still prescribe it? She told me that laws may be changing. ## It can vary from state to state, and within each state dependent upon state laws, it can vary from doctor to doctor. Thus, even if they can prescribe it, they may not want to do so, if it's for long term use, since that requires a lot more monitoring, and they do have to account to the government for each prescription they write for a controlled substance. Since many doctors dislike dealing with the extra burden, they send patients to...

I'm trying to find out how many 100mg ER Morphine sulfate pills are equal to 45 Oxymorphone 30mg ERs for the month. Can anyone help me with the math please? ## Sure - according to the Opioid equivalency table on Wikipedia, Oxymorphone is 3 x stronger than oral Morphine. So, in basic math terms, each dose of 30 mg Oxymorphone is equivalent to roughly 90 mg or Morphine (oral). So the # of tablets would be approximately the same, since it looks like your Morphine dose is high enough to equal the Oxymorphone dose if that makes sense. Hope this helps! ## So there is a shortage on ALL ER Oxymorphone as of Jan and Feb 2021. I live in Florida I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem in other states? ## To calculate the total daily dose: 1. Determine the total daily doses of cur...

My husband takes Tramadol for pain. It has caused him to be depressed. He is now addicted to the drug can't function without it, and he is always angry or agitated at everything around him. He can't keep food down and can't sleep. He has tried to stop taking it but is now a down hill depressed state. ## Well unfortunately our bodies can become dependent upon anything that we take regularly for a long period of time, anything from your morning orange juice to a cup of milk with dinner. There is a big difference between addiction and dependence though. To be addicted he would have to be abusing the drug, taking it more than prescribed and going to extreme measures to get more.
