Want to get off morphine after 3 years. Concerned about abrupt stoppage. ## Stoping abruptly after being on it for several years could result in severe withdrawal effects. The FDA lists the withdrawal symptoms as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, fever, chills and rebound pain. What dose do you currently take? Generally, a slow taper is preferred to help prevent the withdrawal effects. Has your doctor provided you with any advice?

How can I the generic Vicodin. I want my RX to state "generic for Vicodin" It used to say, Hydrocodone/Apap 5/500. Now when I get my refills it says Hydroco/Apap generic for Norco? Told they are the same so why do I need to take the Norvo in larger doses (2 pills each time) to get the same relief from one generic Vicodin? There must be something my Dr is writing on the prescription that causes this to occur. Thank you for your help ## Hello, Grandma52! How are you? Vicodin actually contained more Acetaminophen than the Norco does, it was available with amounts including 500mgs and over. However, last year, all of the tablets with the higher doses of it were removed from the market. Thus, Vicodin and its generics are no longer available. The maximum dose of Acetaminophen availabl...

Are there short term release 40mg oxicodone ## Hello, Manny! How are you? No, the instant release Oxycodone is only available in a 5mg Capsule. The others are either the regular release that take 15 to 20 minutes to start working or the time released Oxycontin that is slowly released over a 12 hour period. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Is the Tylenol ER good for toothache ## Hello, Ray! How are you? Tylenol contains Acetaminophen, which is an analgesic, but it really depends on the severity of the toothache. It may help with a relatively mild one, but if it's severe and there's an infection involved, it likely won't help much. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Have you consulted your dentist?

Can you please tell me how to wean myself off? I really do not want to take them anymore l know l will just become more addicted to them. Can l cut my doseage down over a period of time until l stop completely? Please help! ## Hello, Natalie! How are you? Yes, a slow taper is usually best to minimize withdrawal symptoms, but you should follow your doctor's instructions for the best results. The FDA lists the typical withdrawal symptoms as possibly including nausea, fever, chills, rebound pain, drowsiness and diarrhea. However, if you're taking the time released tablets, you can't actually cut them, because tha...

Does taking tylenol pm change or lower methadone potency because my sister takes 50mgs of methadone daily but I just found out she has been taking up to 7 tylenol pm at the same time. Since she said her methadone doesn't last like it used to could tylenol pm be the cause? ## Hello, Tori! How are you? The Methadone combined with the Diphenhydramine in the Tylenol PM can increase sedation, which is risky, since it can lower heart rate, blood pressure and breath rate. But, the biggest concern is all the Acetaminophen that she's taking in daily. Each Tylenol PM contains 500mgs of it, so taking 7 of them at a time totally 3,500mgs and the maximum daily dose is only 3,000mgs. Anything over that carries the risk of overdose toxicity, which could lead to liver damage, liver failure and ...

I take the perc 10 and opana 10ER..along with steroid injections every few months and I am not getting the relief I hoped for. My pain doc has been great so far and has adjusted my meds several times. I want to ask for stronger meds.. I work 10 hr days and I'm starting to struggle more and more. I want to ask for higher dosages, but I don't want him to get a bad impression of me. What is the best way to ask this?... Thanks ## Explain to your doctor that you do not get the control needed for the hours you work. Tell him what you stated here. Be totally honest and tell him to at least increase the long acting med, the opana, so you can make it thru the workday. Being honest helps, as does looking your doc in the eye when speaking to him. If he is compassionate he will try to accom...

White oblong pill that has L364 on it ## Hi Helen, Based on your description, the closest match I'm finding is a white oblong pill with "L374" on one side and blank on the other; the only difference being that one digit. Is there any chance you may have mistaken the 7 for a 6? If so, this particular pill contains a combination of Acetaminophen 250mg + Aspirin 250mg + Caffeine 65mg; An OTC med used for temporarily relieving minor aches & pain associated with headaches, migraines, toothaches, cramps, arthritis, and other similar conditions... For verification, the manufacturer is reported to be Perrigo Co. I hope this helps!

Can I break a m367generic Norco in half and take it ? ## Ask your doc first...I take half's when I am in less pain, & holes when I have brake through pain..less pill is better for you liver & whatnot. If I can take 3 & 1\2 & still control my pain....than I consider I'm doing my body a favor. But Still Ask Your Doc First!!! Before Changing your regiment!!!! ## @Yvonne, While I agree with Patrick that you should discuss this with your doctor before making any changes to an existing regimen, I will say that M367 is made to be cut in half for a divided dose. The score line (divid) on the back is what confirms this...and you'd actually use that as a guide to measure half a dose. Several years ago I resorted to taking half of one of these (every 4-6 hours) after a ...

Just prescribed Oxycontin op 20 for the first time for chronic lower back pain from two bulging disks that are inflamming S1 and causing severe pain. I've been takng hydrocdone 10-325 for the past 5 years or so along with the injecions. I just took my first dose of Oxycontin op 20 and about 10 -15 minutes after ingesting my heart rate increased tremendously and was pounding through my chest. This lasted about 5 minutes then would return with less severity every 10-15 minutes later for about the next hour. Is this normal? Breathing was ok and I never felt I was going to pass out. Very scary after reading the warning pamplet that came with the script. It did help relieve the pain after the initial side effects but leary on taking anymore. ## Hello, Harley! How are you? The FDA classifies this as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I am a senior citizen and have had major back surgery, I live in melvindale, Michigan and cannot find oxymorphone 15mg anywhere, can someone give me a suggestion as to where to go to get them. ## Hello, Ronald! How are you? How have you been checking for them? If you're just calling pharmacies, you won't get an accurate answer, because they have no way of knowing if the person on the other end of the line is a legitimate customer with a need, or a potential thief. Thus, you actually have to physically go into the pharmacies, with the prescription in hand to check. Another idea would be to go to the hospital where you had your surgery and see if their pharmacy can fill it for you. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects...

Is cymbalta the same as tramadol? ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? No, they are not the same, at all. Cymbalta contains the active ingredient Duloxetine, the FDA classifies it as an SSNRI antidepressant, though it does help some people with anxiety and nerve pain. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. However, Tramadol is an analgesic. The FDA classifies it as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

From what you've listed, the only difference is the dosage, the 7.5mg is not as strong, but you should be able to take it, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
