How can I maximize the effectiveness of this medication? It does not always work as prescribed but my doctor does not want to change my medication at this time. ## I find that taking a 50mg Tab with a 500 mg Tylenol on an empty stomach works best. Drink lots of water! Eat about two hours after. Works well with a 4mg Tizanidine (muscle relaxer too). Sometimes I split the tab to 25mg w/2 Tylenol as a trade off. Just picked this up today at the pharmacy. I had surgery on my knee due to 3 tears. I was told I have arthritis as well. I'm in a lot of pain and this was recommend by my Dr. to take 3 times a day. I went to my pharmacy and instead of tylenol 3 they gave me a pill with u36 on it. Is this the same as tylenol 3? ## Hi manuel, A white round pill marked with U36 reportedly contains Acetaminophen (300mg) + Codeine phosphate (30mg); a generic version of Tylenol #3. My doctor gave me Morphine Sulfate ER 30 mg tablets and said they would last longer for pain than what I was taking, which was Oxycodone 10/325. The Morphine pills don't seem to last that long for me. What should I tell my doctor to prescribe me? Right now I take 2 of the Oxycodone and 2 of the Morphine a day. Hello! My first time here so I'll try to be as detailed as possible. I'm a 36 y/o Female who has been Type I diabetic for 20 some odd years. I have had diabetic nueropathy and general anxiety disorder for around 4 years now. I was on Lyrica for both around 75mg dosage for several years and then upped to 100mg. My husband lost his job and thus my insurance went away too. I was off of Lyrica from about September of 2011 until about March 1st of 2012. After a bad reaction to Gabapentin, I was put back on the Lyrica. I noticed that on the 75mg 2x a day and I did fairly well but it wasn't -quite- enough. If it is an extended release Morphine, it should have some markings on it to enable their identification according to U.S. FDA law. The only exception would be for medications done by a compounding pharmacy, which would not be time released. My doctor just switched my vicoden and i wanted to know which is stronger the 5-500 pills or the 5-325 pills? ## If you are asking about the Hydrocodone, then neither is stronger, at 5mgs, they are both the same strength. The only thing different about them is the amount of APAP, which is medical speak for Acetaminophen. The one that says 325 only contains 325mgs of it and the one that says 500 contains 500mgs of Acetaminophen. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. i have a bottle of ten year old morphine and i was wondering if it would be dangerous to take them.... ## Morphine doesn't get dangerous, when it's expired, but it does lose effectiveness and, after 10 years, I doubt there is much potency left to treat pain and do much of anything. This is a narcotic, so in case there is some potency left, you also shouldn't try taking more to get the same effect, because you could run the risk of overdose. anyone else taking generic tylenol 4 made by teva? my pharmacy just switched brands and taking ONE feels like i'm taking FOUR. but that's only every third pill... they dont feel consistent but regardless they feel WAYYYY over the regular strength of codeine. it feels like i'm taking codiene and vicodin at the same timme and i hate it. ## Is there any chance that the times when it seems to hit stronger are also times where you might have eaten less, or not eaten anything yet? I take morphine 15mg extended release tabs right now and I normally take 1 Hydrocodone 10-550's but Im out of those right now..Im wondering if taking another morphine would be ok? I took the first one at 8:00am this morning and its now 7 hours later..Im in pain! ## While they do make 30mg Morphine sulfate extended-release tablets, I know that everyone reacts differently to different doses, based on tolerance - So I can't necessarily imply that a higher dose will still benefit you, in contrast to any possible side effects that come along with it. I have been having severe acid reflux for several years and taking more and more acifex and other strong antacids. Last year I woke up ewith acid in the mouth day and night my gastroenterologist sent me to a surgon. I did not like the surgon so I found a different gastroenterolgist. After talking to two other Dr's, the gastroenterologist suggested I take Lyrica after uping the doseage from 10 mg twice a day to 50 mg twice a day I have some relief. for some reason he is resisting upping the doseage above 50 mg twice a day.
