Pain Management Doctors In And Around The Baton Rouge Area That Prescribe Meds To People Who Really Need Them & Accepts Medicaid (Page 4)
UpdatedDoes anyone know of a doctor in and around the Baton Rouge Louisiana area that will prescribe pain meds that takes Medicaid? I'm seeing a doctor now in Maryland but I really need to move back to Louisiana very sad that your pain keeps you from moving. I have a sister that is terminally ill and sad to say dying...and meds are keeping me from going to take care of her in her final days. Please help
My Family and I moved here over a year ago from Nevada where My husband and I were seeing a Pain Management doctor in which I was prescribed Pain Medicine, a Muscle Relaxer, Ibuprofen, and also did as I was in doing 2 Steroid inj's., that did nothing for my lower back pain at all, I also have Neck Pain, this was due to a car accident that we were in 2010, I was in 3 previous car accidents prior to meeting my husband, none at my fault one i was hit by a drunk driver, I also had back pain with twins that were born 17 days earlier via C Section 7 lbs each baby, and two pregnancy that were Hell on my Neck and Back during the pregnancies.... I wish we never left Nevada as we had a wonderful caring Doctor that actually did test MRI's , Discogram that was painful procedure from that I have 2 torn inner Discs Both Lower Back one that didn't hold the dye to see on CT scan that it's a Level 5 tear the inner jelly part, and another Lower back disc inner jelly part that is a level 2 tear, I seen a Neurologist that did test showed Nerve Damage on my lower back and nerve damage in both legs., But my next step was to see a Neuro- Surgeon but we moved to Louisiana and it has been difficult finding a Pain Management Doctor, one was Dr. Troy that at the time last year 2014 their office took our Medicaid but stopped towards end of year taking Medicaid, and cash pay every 3 months, but he no longer works there and had to find another Pain Management Doctor in 3 weeks after receiving a letter that he no longer works there, called a few places but said the "don't accept Cash Payments" some referrals from people said they go and do Cash Payments, so that was odd, Finally found a place LouisianaPainSpec. and it was so expensive first appointment, and follow ups as well, I just want and Need a Pain Management Doctor that Listens and Cares and doest cost $500 first appt. and $275 monthly, it's a burden on our finances, I've been on and off the Pain Medicine due to pregnancy not taking than seeing doctor again as my lower back killed me as well as my Neck, doing activities and taking care of my 5 kids 24/7, when not taking Pain pills I'm dying as my back hurts like Hell and my back locks up and it takes a long time to straighten out, If anyone can give me Referrals on Pain Management Doctors that are on the Northshore or in New Orleans or anywhere in Louisiana that are Caring and Helpful in understanding my situation and Pain I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you
I'm looking for a Pain Management office and doctor that is caring and Affordable since no Pain Management place in Louisiana takes my Insurance. I have to private pay since the doctor I go to now was nice at first visit and nothing but rude when I try to ask about my Back & Neck pain and if he even look at my entire file I had on disc I provided for them to print out and my previous doctor in Nevada. I even printed it out it shows everything my Steroid inj's., X-rays, MRI's , and Discogram that show extreme tears in 2 of my lower back discs. First visit was $500, and monthly payments are $275, my first visit which I paid insurance didn't cover my $500 bottle of pain meds a extended release pill, so I was SOL and said he wouldn't prescribe any meds until I pay for another appointment, I just want Recommendations of Pain Medicine doctors clinics in Louisiana. If anyone can provide doctor names and or phone numbers for these doctors it would be greatly appreciated.
AlexisB, pain management is expensive. Very few pain management drs will accept patients that are self pay. You picked the wrong state to move to if you're a chronic pain patients without insurance or don't have the money to pay for it.
We only moved here because my Husband is from Louisiana and we didn't realize how bad it was to even be seen by a pain management doctors office, we both have all our documents from MRI's , x-Rays, etc.. From being here over a year now without much luck on finding a Caring Nice Doctor for our Chronic pain is hard I know I have to pay to see a PM doc. I just wanted some Others Suggestions on a Nice Caring PM doctor that can help, need names of a doctor others have seen and experienced, any help is greatly appreciated thanks God Bless.
AlexisB, It is unusual for someone on Medicad to be able to pay a Pain Management Dr in Louisiana. Louisiana Medicaid won't pay for a Pain Management Dr.
I have united health care to and the pain management that they cover is 6 visits a year to a chiropractor doctor.
vickie, when someone here asks about Pain Management they aren't referring to Chiropractor. Chiropractors aren't doctors. Some Louisiana Medicaid Health Plans have incentives to get you to join their heath plan. One of United HeathCare's incentatives is 6 visits to an in network Chriopractor for those over 21. Louisiana Medicaid won't pay a Pain Management Dr for the management of chronic non cancer related pain.
BL why so negative? I'm asking for request on Pain Management Doctors To make to clear I know Medicaid does not Pay For Pain Mangement! Your replies are NOT Helpful to me. Our Family has 6 children 2 set of twins first set of twins and I with husband were involved in a Car Accident, so it's NOT unusual for I to be under my insurance I lived in a state prior that DId pay! My insurance is none of your business ok, so BL stop Replying to my posts as I've e posted Twice I'm only asking for Doctor Recommdations so throughly Read an Entire Post instead of giving a same Not Helping Answer. You are Rude person ok so leave me alone , I only want Recommdations on PM Doctors. Not telling me Medicaid doesn't cover PM so of course I need it! I have neck & back issues that I only know how bad my pain is ok! I don't know you and you don't know me. When I first posted I didn't expect such Rude Responses. A little bit of Kindness goes a long way ok, Karma. May God Truly Bless you BL must be miserable being such a Mean Rude Human being! Again leave me alone BL!!!!!
Alexia I've had the same experience with BL so you're not the only one.If I find a good recommendation I'll be sure to let you know.I think everyone knows by know about insurance lol.Good luck to you!
AlexisB , I was trying to give you information that it appeared you didn't have. I don't write the policies, I just try and share them with those who are unaware of them.
I wish you luck finding a pain management dr you can pay out of pocket. Have you called the drs in your area and surrounding areas ?
When Louisiana Medicaid sent the list of Medicaid Poviders to the BayouHeatlh Health Plans, they didn't seperate those who accept Medicaid Only if you have Medicare and those who only accept Medicaid. They also didn't update the names in the list. That is one of the reason there is so much confusion.
Walter Ellis was shut down. He was overprescribing and his license was suspended.
You have to establish a relationship with a PM doctor (via insurance or Medicare). I lost my insurance and my doc let me keep coming for cash, but cash on the first visit is a red flag. Louisiana Medicaid doesn't cover pain management. There's a shady doctor in New Orleans who does but idk who he is. In Baton Rouge, everyone seemed very much on the up and up.
You are so right .... There were so many people that somehow got these medications and sold them on the street for large amounts of money! These people are a drain on society and quite frankly; a pain patients worst enemy! I believe that before this became an epidemic that many pain patients had a better quality of life than they currently do! Doctors are afraid to write prescriptions for more than what the FDA guidelines recommend! I am grateful that after I went though a few months of hell after I retired and moved that I finally found a doctor who has restored my quality of life! I only agreed to let this new doctor do steroid inj. because I was in so much pain and was desperate for relief! I was not expecting anything good to come of them however because I have had so many different shots including steroid inj. over the past 15 years; all with with very disappointing results! To my amazement, I got a great deal of relief from this one shot that I was able to tolerate the reduction in my pain medication which this doctor had insisted on! Although on 1/3rd less medication my quality of life is better than it was before I found my new doctor which miraculously is only ten minutes away from my home!
Please do not be afraid to try something that you have already tried if there is even a remote chance that it could help ... Praying that everyone finds better relief for their pain who needs it! Miss Patty
please inform me I go to tulane from where I live I have neuropathy fibromyalgia and bone spurs I'm so sick right now I will b on my way now
Hello I am a Medicaid recipient do you know of a doctor or pain management in our area that will allow us to private pay..I am like a fish out of water, Neuropathy, Myofascial, Fibromyalgia, bone spurs. I had to pay podiatrist bc none on United list accepts it. I would really appreciate your time.
Alisha. the only thing you can do is call the pain management drs in your area and ask if they accept selfpay patients. It is expensive though.
BL, you are wrong. There are drs that take medicaid for pain meds etc. You're telling these people wrong info. My brother gets medicaid and gets his meds from medicaid. I'm not giving out his info but it's in hammond. Also look up all drs. Neuro. Etc. Ask each individual place. Keep trying..
