TN's laws almost mirror KY's laws. A good doctor who really cares would be nice. IN might be closer to being helpful but not positive. Most are protecting their licenses and I can't blame them for that. I do blame our legislators a great deal. I've tried talking to them and they don't care. They hear what they want to hear. The people on the KBML board have apparently never had a problem of legitimate chronic pain in their life and think everything can be taken care of with intervention. I wish one would go to one of my appointments with me.

Rosenburg Reyes in Louisville is my PCP, if you make an appointment I will warn you that you'll be there a while, he spends as much time with each patient as they need, to me it's worth it, my last appointment he literally spent 45 minutes in the room talking to me, answering questions, ect. You don't find many that will do that anymore

AMEN! I truly need help finding a doctor. The legislator told me to talk to my doctor about the best plan for my pain but I told my legislator that I CAN't FIND A DOCTOR. He never responded. I know emails and names aren't shown on here but I need a doctor also. Help from anyone???????????????????

Also want to add that Dr. Reyes will only prescribe up to 120 Percocet 10/325's a month BUT as long as you have current test results/diagnosis he WILL get you into a PM Dr. that will give you other meds, he won't let you go without any until your appointment, I know that for most of us the 10's don't get rid of the pain anymore but they will keep you from having WD's until he gets you into PM

There is a clinic in Lexington that will prescribe 5 Hydrocodone a day but he won't give muscle relaxers and no help on withdrawals from them. You have to be willing to have a monthly urine test (no big deal) the get KASPAR (again no big deal) but every year you have to have a MRI, a CAT scan, go to physical therapy and they have a psychologist on staff. The first good nights sleep I got was when I got my muscle relaxers. Also most pain management patients don't feel like doing all that but it's an option. It's a big expense to do all that too. I'll be as specific as I can without naming them if anyone is interested.

To those who wanted the name of that doctor in Lexington; it's called a Pain Clinic and it's on Nichlosasville Road. It's just a little past Central Bap Hospital but it's on the other side of the road. It 1731 or something like that. We have two with very similiar names and I don't want to tell the wrong one. They also have a clinic on the opposite side of town on Eagle Creek but you don't realize they're together unless you call because the other one is the just the name of a woman doctor.
You have to have the records to show you've been getting something like that (I was getting more) but that's the amount a pain clinic can legally do now. It's a long wait because people are stuffed in there. You just stand at a frosted glass and someone will open the glass and get your information. They finally send you for a urine test and you wait to see the doctor. In my case I had the rudest male nurse I have ever met. They didn't take my vitals and the doc didn't examine me. But if your records bear it out and your're willing to do all that every month and have those other things I said every year, he gives them. I told him I didn't need them until Dec and he told me to come back then, get my pills down to 5 a day and stop the muscle relaxers and he would write that script. If I couldn't stop the muscle relaxers, I think he was going to have me seen by the staff psychologist to help me with that. Good luck.

ladyann that is not true about TN law. I just saw a Dr. who gave me RX's for ER and IR morphine at the same time. A lot of TN pharmacy are not even reporting to the national data base. Although that will change in 2014, but the other laws for 2014 are not even close to KY's Kasper law.
I think the problems people are having is they do not really meet the criteria for the meds they want. Or they expect to be started on the dose someone else had them on. You need to be willing to work with the dr's and build up the the dose over time and build a trusting relationship with the dr.
I have not seen a pain dr. who won't give me morphine or methadone and build up to a higher dose in a month or 2, etc. But then when the docs see my MRI's they just shake their heads and tell me I need a "magic wand" then add severe fibromyalgia on top of that.

Kim hope you got my last msg. If not I am in middle Ga and in need of a pm doc. I was dismissed last month from mine for filling 24 norco for surgery on my tooth! 6 years I had been treated by my pmd and they cut me quick! Tracking system has them all terrified! Now I have that being my reason for dismissal and blackballed everywhere! Everything I have is legitimate. Gave me 5 pm names in surrounding areas. But if 'they see I was dismissed for "obtaining controlled substance at another physician" I won't be seen. No matter how small the situation truly was! Anyone please this GA boy figure something out! Thanks.

Everything changes in 2014 and we're almost there. I'm allergic to morophine and methdone so I have to have something else. There's no point in driving down there is it's going to change in 2014 and those are the laws I read since we're just a couple of months from that. KY doctors are just getting ready for the change. I'm just getting tired of being treated like dirt or an addict because I have chronic pain. I have pain that the doctors say I need a miracle for but when their treatments don't help, they release me. It's a weird combination of medication that gives me a quality of life and that's all I want. I read the 2014 law for TN but if you can tell me a doctor that can help ease my pain, I would be very grateful. I believe I could get morophine and methadone here, even oxycontin, but I'm allergic to all three. I'm tired of calling doctor's offices - not asking for any type of medication - but being told they don't do medication. (If they tap phone lines I'm probably on a list somewhere for calling doctors.) I've tried three states. I never ask for specific medication but they tell me they don't do medication or when they see my records they won't do it. I'm willing to try other things and I let them know. They just see that I've had it and it didn't help. Would be grateful for help and name of doctor.

Ladyann, I do not give out Dr.s names but call the tristar Dr.s referral line. They will get you a appointment. You have to be willing to work with the docs. Yes you know what you need but the docs do not know you. Give it a few visits before you wipe them off as useless.

I don't give out names either as you can see from that former post. Thanks, I'll give it a try. I have all my records and my current doctor said he would always make them available. (current doctor who is closing his practice). I don't mind working with them; I just don't like being told there are steps I have to take every year and being told that I'll get five pills a day. I do consider them a pill mill, flying lower under the radar to get by. I'm not demanding that it has to be my way or no way; I just want some relief and when you've had those tests and procedures it seems a waste of money but I'll do the procedures again if they want to see that they don't work. I have an appointment at a hospital pain clinic on the twenty fifth. I went to that hospital several years ago when they had a different doctor and when the procedures didn't work, they released me. I just don't want to be released and go through all this again. Is this in TN? Since their laws will change in 2014, do you think they will change or stick with their patients. I was talking to a lady at a store yesterday and she has had twenty five blocks. They do at least help her for awhile because it is in her spine. She's about to give up too. Thanks
