After more than a decade of taking various meds to try to stop my bones from wasting away with no success, I had my first injection of Prolia at the end of December 2015. I am supposed to get my second shot within the week, but have decided against it. Like many of you, I have felt just awful since December: severe bone and joint pain, worsening depression, constipation, exhaustion, and just plain feeling incapable of doing almost anything. When I talked to both my endocrinologist and rheumatologist about my symptoms, my concerns were dismissed and I was told the side effects would only last a few days at the most. My question is have any of you felt better after you stopped taking the Prolia? If so, how long did it t...
Hi all, Pood here. I tried to call Amgen about the two teeth that totally decayed below the gum line. Apparently they are now keeping office hours and close at 8pm Eastern which makes no sense because they are in Canada. I think I will talk to a local "ambulance chaser" to see if I can get any interest from him. Meanwhile, I go back to my dentist this Thursday. Jan, is your dentist behind you on this new problem and have youreported it? Hugs. ## I’ve had ONJ since November 2017. Antibiotics by mouth 7 times, 2 rounds of IV antibiotics by picc line. Still in pain. I’m trying to find a class action suit. I’ll let you know.
IT SEEMS THAT AFTER READING ALL THE REMARKS ON HERE THAT NONE OF US SHOULD CONTINUE ON WITH THIS DRUG !!! IT'S RUNNING HAVOC ON ALL OF THOSE WHO HAVE TAKEN IT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TAKE NEXT, BUT I KNOW ENOUGH NOT TO TAKE ANYMORE OF "THESE CANCER DRUGS ! " PERHAPS THERE IS NOTHING LEFT FOR ME TO TAKE, IN ANY CASE IT WILL NOT BE A DRUG USED FOR CANCER !!! OUR BODIES ARE FIGHTING PROLIA, SO IT SEEMS THAT IT IS NO GOOD FOR US W/OSTEOPOROSIS. THERE WILL MOST LIKELY BE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT PROLIA IN THE NEAR FUTURE. ## Even though litigation is the usual course of action for many drugs like Prolia, what I find to be sad, is that when it comes down to finding something else that works, doctors go ahead and prescribe another medication with just as many side effects; st...

I am very sorry about the problem that you've run into. You are not the first to complain about Prolia and I am expecting many more still to follow, it just doesn't seem to work well for many people. Has anyone experienced growing/lengthening of bones while taking Forteo? I have been using it for about 5 months now and I think I'm actually growing! At age 51! I was just fitted for new sneakers and went from a size 9 to a 10.5 and I've noticed that the long sleeves on some of my tops have become not so long sleeved. ## The FDA does not list that as being a normal side effect of this medication, but there is no way to say how anyone will be affected by any given medication. The typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, joint/muscle aches, and administration site reactions. However, there are also other medical conditions that may cause such issues, so it would be best to check with your physician to be sure. Are you on any other medications?
Does anyone have Celiac and takes Forteo? My doctor prescribed this medicine for my osteoporosis. I am extremely worried about taking this medicine and all the side affects with Forteo. I am 51, post menopause, and have a fractured leg. The bone is taking a lot of time to heal. One side effect I read from Forteo was more fractures. I am looking for any side affects from people with auto immune diseases, not doctors answers. Thank you. ## Hi Alice, I am set to begin my first dosing of Forteo this week and I am very nervous. I am 53 and was dx with Celiac in 2004. I also have multiple other autoimmune dx. One of my long term meds is oral prednisone. Also early menopause at 42 with no artificial medically suggested. I have osteoporosis and osteopenia measurements. Also on warfarin for auto...

I need a lot more real Life information before using this drug. Thanks! ## Hello, Kacee! How are you? I've not taken it, but I can provide you with details on the possible side effects. The FDA lists some of the most common ones as possibly including abdominal pain, depression, confusion, constipation, weight loss, increased urination and thirst. Less commons may include irregular heartbeat, ar...
The "authorities" are concerned with the opioid addictions and overdoses yet the FDA has not, to my knowledge, run trials on Adequan, a proven osteoarthritis drug that not only eases pain in dogs and horses but also has been proven to REGENERATE joints. Any reason why? ## The FDA does not run drug trials. They do set the requirements for them, but it is up to the actual manufacturer of any given medication to do the drug trials, and submit the results to the FDA for approval. The requirements are also quite different for human medications, as compared to those use in various species of animals. In some cases, the cost of doing the trials results in a manufacturer not wanting to pursue further testing to have a medication approved for human use. Regarding this medication, since i...

Kindly tell me what its function and side effects are? ## MY MOM HAS DIABETES, SO CAN I GIVE HER THIS MEDICINE (D RATE PLUS D) FOR HER JOINTS & BACK PAIN, ETC.? I am F/62 and never had problems relating to sleep. But since about 2 years I'm suffering from sleeping disorder. I go to bed very drowsy but sleep eludes me till 2-3 AM. I've shoulder pain as also lower back pain. I've past history of severe Osteoporosis. Consulted Neurologist who prescribed Remylin D twice daily and suggested I take 10mg Tryptomer for sleeping problem. Asked if it had a side effect the doctor said it's safer compared to other medications and there are people who are on it for more than 15 years. I take Fosamax D once a week and on the 2nd day thru the 4th day I have severe jaw and jaw-tooth pain and then it goes away. Is Fosamax D the cause? ## I've been on Fosamax for nearly three months. This week for the first time I experienced pain in my upper teeth that I thought might be sinus related. Now I believe it is caused by the Fosamax. I don't intend to continue with it. ## I have been on Fosamax 5 months, and had 4 days of TMJ agonizing pain recently. It has never been that bad in 20 years. I will speak to my doctor. I'm afraid to keep taking it. ## Yes, there is a chance that it was caused by the Fosamax, it has also been known to cause osteonecrosis of the jaw, according to FDA reports, so you should consult your doctor, or dentist and have this checked out as soo...
Does anyone have coverage for Tymlos? Is there any way to be able to afford the cost? Has anyone felt they have benefited from this drug? ## Whether or not anyone has coverage is going to depend on their insurer, some plans cover it, some do not. As to the cost, there are some savings programs available from the manufacturer, if you qualify. Can you post back with basic information on what insurance coverage you have? If so, I can find more information for you. The FDA has approved it for the treatment of women who have suffered a recent fracture due to osteoporosis, to help reduce the risk of future fractures. The side effects are listed as possibly including dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, headache, fatigue, and heart palpitations. Can anyone that's been on this medication chi...
I am due for my second inj. of Prolia. I have read that neck pain and stiffness with the feeling also of having a swollen gland in side of neck can occur. I am 79 and do not intend on having a second inj. ## I have had Prolia shots for 4-1/2 years. No problem until now. I am having severe neck pain and swelling on the right side of my neck, it is so severe that I cannot function, I have severe chronic osteoporosis, the prolia shots have improved my severely thin bones a lot, should I quit getting the shots? I get the shots every 6 mos.. I also have developed severe indigestion, help!! I also have ear pain on the same side as my neck pain. Thank you for reading.
I took my first injection of Prolia mid April, I have gone to my dentist, he suggested a night guard. My rhuematologist does not beleive there is any connection between jaw bone/gum pain and Prolia. I have lost about 10 lbs due to not eating. I do not beleive I will be taking a second injection. Has anyone else had clenching of jaws to the point of not able to eat? ## Hi, Mimi! Sorry about the problems you're having, you must be miserable. And to be honest with you, I've read so many posts about people experiencing odd side effects from Prolia, that I don't remember if this was mentioned before, or not. Yes, there have been that many. Thus, yours do not surprise me and this is not a medication I would recommend to anyone as their first choice. Have you talked to your doctor?...
I have taken Prolia in 2013, I received 2 shots, felt ache, tired, hips hurt, stopped it in 2015 because I had osteopenia, just went for a Bone Density and now I have very bad osteoporosis, I am still on the fence if I should take the Prolia shot again...How do I make my decision....I don't want to break any bones but so scared of all the side effects... ## This medication can cause some serious side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, administraton site irritation, worsening of asthma symptoms, as well as severe joint/muscle aches, according to FDA reports. Did your doctor offer you any other options? Are you on any other medications? Prolia is not the only medication, there are others you can try. Do you take any calcium and vitamin D supplements? ## You have a valid reason for no...
Have been on Prolia for 4 months. Next injection due in 2 months. Scheduled to have a total knee replacement in 3 weeks. Is it safe to get knee replacement while on Prola? Will the healing be as good if I'm not on Prolia? Are infections a higher possibility? Anyone out there had knee replacement while on Prolia? ## Yes, it has been known to increase the risk of infections, including possibly severe ones, though the FDA states that they are usually not fatal. There are many details about this medication listed here: Thus, it would be best to speak to your doctor, as they may want you to stop it for awhile, before having your surgery. Are you on any other medications?
