How do you take Forteo injections on a plane and travel to Cozumel for two weeks? ## Hello, Janflute! How are you? U.S. Customs, and Border Protection has an information page about traveling with your medications here. They state that you should keep medication in the original containers provided by your pharmacy, with the doctor's prescription on the label, or if they are not in the original containers, you must bring a written prescription from your doctor with you. I've traveled with medications, before, so has most of my family, and the most that was ever done was making sure they were prescribed, and that we were only carrying personal use amounts. Another thing that my doctor advised, which I've always followed, was to keep my medications in a carry on bag, rather than...

What does the pharmaceutical people of Prolia advised regarding its side effects? ## Hello, Lala! How are you? They do warn that it can possibly cause some potential serous side effects, such as low blood calcium, serious infections, jaw bone problems, thigh bone fractures and more. Have you had a bad experience with it? ## Yes, the discomfort in the mouth is the worst. Now I have to make a decision regarding what to do with my osteoporosis. I am afraid of Prolia but doctors say that Prolia is the best medicine offered. ## I HAD THE PROLIA INJECTION 5 DAYS AGO AND HAVE HAD BACK PAIN OR SORE BACK FROM THE INJECTION. IF I HAD BEEN TOLD ABOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS. I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE INJECTION. NOW , I DO NOT KNOW IF THE PROLIA EVEN HELPS THE BONE LOSS. THE FDA SHOULD BE SUED. THIS IS OUT...

dangers of dental extractions while on Fosamax ## I'm 65 yrs. old and have been on Fosamax 10+ years. I had a wonderful doctor who retired approx. 4 yrs. ago. Haven't had good medical care since then and am opting to stop this medication. I am experiencing teeth problems and shoulder and upper back/neck pain. I think 10 years is long enough (maybe too long) to take this med and I am going to stop "cold turkey". I'm going to check into a natural product at my local health food store that might benefit Calcium absorbtion. Does this sound like a reasonable approach? Thanks ## Generally, people are warned to avoid dental work while taking Fosomax due to the possible risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw, it is warned about in the patient advisory leaflet, and is why most pati...

On taking Fosamax, I had severe esophageal spasms. I finally self-diagnosed myself; stopped the Fosamax, and they are only minute now; hopefully will stop soon. ## I only just started Fosomax a month ago for osteokinesis and am having serious issues with swallowing anything. Having pain in my chest and what seems to be spasms. Am thinking of just stopping it all together. I have had 2 esopageal stretches over the year and first thought this was heartburn but have no heartburn symptoms sych as reflux or throat acid. I can onky attribute my swalling issues to Fosomax. ## There is a risk of most medications causing such issues as side effects, according to FDA reports. Others may also include nausea, dizziness, worsening asthma, and joint/bone pain. You might be better of trying a differen...

I have been taking Alendronate 70 mg once a week for two years, but the last month I have experienced increasingly more severe dizziness and subsequent nausea within 24 hours of dosage. Is this 24 hour delayed reaction caused by Alendronate? ## Those can be normal side effects of Alendronate, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may include headache, bloating, constipation, and taste changes. Ref: Alendronate Information Our bodies do change with time, so it is always possible to suddenly start experiencing side effects that you didn't experience in the past. However, there is also a chance that these symptoms are entirely unrelated. Are you on any other medications? Has anything changed in your diet, or lifestyle recently? If its severe, you should consult your doctor for y...

I developed a red burning itchy lumpy rash after one injection of Prolia. Mainly on face neck chest arms scalp. Anyone else? ## Hello, Willy! How are you? That can be a side effect of Prolia, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, hypocalcemia, asthenia and fatigue. However, since it is itchy, you should have it checked out, because it could be an allergic reaction that requires medical treatment. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Willy, please look under Prolia side effects on this site. We have almost 900 people writing and talking about Prolia. You sort of worded your question wrong to land on the mega load of Prolia problems. Yes, it's from Prolia and requires medical attention. You will probably have to take written confirmation to make any MD believe yo...

I've been on Forteo for almost 2 full months. I have been fighting weight gain and losing the fight. I've done juicing, low carb/high fat, and now I'm doing weight watchers with intermittent fasting. Why does the a Forteo literature tell about weight loss but not weight gain? It is obviously an ongoing problem from what I read from other users. In addition to the weight issues, I get very hot and sweaty for several hours and most nights only sleep a couple of hours. I'm depressed and fatigued like apparently most others on Forteo. I've been trying to snap out of it but thinking about asking for some medication for that too. I'm 58 and a lot of these symptoms are common for menopausal/ post- menopausal women, but it's strange it all seemed to just start now. I...

Does anyone know if the chances of getting osteoporosis from taking Trelegy are increased? ## This medication contains the active ingredients Fluticasone, Umeclidinium, and Vilanterol, and it has been known to decrease bone density, and cause fractures as side effects. Ref: Trelegy Information Other side effects may include nausea, changes in taste, back pain, cough, and headache. Do you already suffer from osteoporosis?

Hello, been on Alendronate 70mg 4 weeks. Stopped taking it two weeks ago. Chiro told me his father fractured vertebrae. All I have read is negative feedback about this drug. Is there any positive feedback on this website about it? Has anyone taken this with good results? ## Hi, Ev! How are you? The thing you have to remember when reading experiences, and reviews online is that most people don't go looking online for a site like this, unless they've had a bad experience. There are many that take a medication without problems, but they don't look for a site like this to find more information, or see if other's have had similar experiences. That said, you are correct in that most of them regarding Fosamax are negative, many people experience problematic side effects, and ha...

I had my infusion Mar 4 2015. I have experienced severe stomach pains, leg pains that wake me up at night, a horrible dry cough, near migraine type headaches, very severe weakness, trouble walking, constipation, had to have dental work that I usually have great teeth, some trouble sleeping. My rheumatologist did nothing to try to help me with the symptoms but my primary doctor gave me medication that help with the stomach pains, take Excedrin for Migraines and enteric aspirin for back and body, and other meds to try and find some comfort. I'm somewhat better than the few weeks after the infusion but still have a lot of problems. Hopefully this doesn't last for 6 months. ## Hello, Shirl! How are you? I'm so sorry about what you're going through. Everything you've list...

Would like to know if anyone had side effects from Prolia but they went away - and how long did it take for that to happen? ## There have been many posts about people suffering side effects, which in theory should wear off in a few weeks, but it hasn't worked that way for many. Here's a link to a post with comments from several people that have been suffering problems: Are you also suffering from problems? ## First injection Feb. One week later could barely walk or use my arms due to pain. Now have back pain, musculoskeletal pain, cholesterol very high and walk with a cane or walker, very seldom drive now, due to arm weakness.AND my doctor said there were no side effects.!!! Will not take second shot in August. ## Have you rec'd any info on your question. Or since May can you...

My Oncologist wants me to start Prolia injections in june but my regular doctor is concerned because I take Benacar for high blood pressure and says that Benacar can cause kidney problems and is worried about me taking Prolia as it can cause kidney problems and since i have had kidney failure in the past it could cause me more problems. Should I take Prolia or not? Just wondering. I also need some teeth pulled before I get the shot. I had breast cancer 5 years ago and did Chemo Radiation and had surgery to remove the breast. I am 61 years old. Please give me some insight. ## If possible, it would be good to get these two doctors to discuss it, together, so they can mutually decide what would be best for you. Prolia can be problematic, because it does tend to cause troubling side effects...

Need everyone’s advice, good or bad, on AlgaeCal or similar products. Latest DEXA for me is -3.6 which is the worst I’ve gotten. Will not do another Prolia shot due to side effects that have just begun to recede after 2 years. If I had to do one supplement and a couple of exercises, what would you suggest they be? Thanks to all ~ ## Has your doctor made any suggestions? You can learn more about Osteoporosis and treatment options here on Medline Plus. In my mother-in-laws case, when she couldn't tolerate medications, her doctor told to her to eat at least one serving of yogurt a day, because the calcium in it is readily absorbed. There are also some foods listed here according to their calcium content. ## VerFree ~ Thank you for your valuable input. Being dairy intolerant...

I take ldn for ms...it does help my energy level. My dr wants me to start Prolia for osteoporosis. This drug effects the immune system. I know ldn helps to boost the immune system. Can these 2 drugs be taken together? I need to make a decision soon. I'd like to hear about anyone with ms using Prolia.....I'm scared. ## I just had a Prolia injection 2 weeks ago. I can tell you this, I would rather be in a wheelchair in a nursing home than have this in my system. It completely and totally DELETES YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM. I'm really sick and need to go to the ER but I cannot be around other sick people without an immune system. I will NEVER have another one in my lifetime. Also have a couple of very needed surgeries scheduled that will most probably be cancelled because I have NO IMM...

Is there a generic version of Fosamax? ## Yes, there are several companies that have received FDA approval to produce a generic version, now. Anyone have this problem? I was given two shots over the last year no problem. Third shot in November and I cannot resolve my severe constipation. Nothing helps. I eat enough fiber, drink enough water, and work out most days. Miralax doesn't help. Any suggestions? ## Heat some prune juice and drink it but make sure you have easy access to a bathroom. Also pitted prunes. Heat them also after adding water to cover and microwaving them till plump. Not all at once. It may work like dynamite!!! Just a cup of the juice at night, go in morning or whenever it wants you to! ## The antibody Denosumab® or Prolia® for skeletal/bone loss issues comes with a long list of side effects with some being very severe. Constipation is among the top three, so it happens quite often. These issue...

I had a tooth extraction. Can I delay my Prolia injection by one month? ## It would be best to discuss it with your doctor, and follow their instructions. The concern is that medications like Prolia have been known to cause osteonecrosis of the jaw, so proper dental care, and maintaining good dental hygiene while taking it are very important. Was your dentist aware that you are on it? The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, back ache, muscle aches, rapid weight gain, and swollen glands in the neck. Are you on any other medications? ## Do not take Prolia if you do not want to loose all of your teeth. I now have none of my natural teeth and in the middle of implants which is extremely expensive. Dentures are not working because of bone disfigurement. I alway...

Since using Fosamax my hair has become thin and my hairdresser refuses to perm my hair. She said it was possible that the Fosamax had broken my hair and if she permed it my hair would probably break off. Can Fosamax be the cause? ## Hello Gill, Yes, hair loss is listed as a possible (but less common) side effect when taking Fosamax (Alendronate) [1]. You might want to bring this up to your doctor to see if they recommend switching medications. [1]

I am taking this vit. @50,000 units per week. Why would my Dr, want me to take this dosage for 5 weeks? ## My physician ordered this high dose because my blood reading was low AND a CT scan revealed Osteoporosis of my spine..... I had no symptoms . I was told the pills would merely stop farther erosion of the spine but would not cure present condition. Was also told it was important to have plenty of Calcium to help absorption of the Vitamin D., which my diet already contained, ## You should ask your doctor if he did a vitamin d level. While that dosage is a 'normal' dose to treat deficiency, unless you have a vitamin d level, that amount of vitamin d may not be nearly enough! You may need FAR more vitamin d in order to correct a vitamin d deficiency, but unless you get a vitami...
