This new drug for opiod dependence sounds better than suboxone. What type of Doctor can prescribe this, and when this is prescribed I imagine you can't get it if you are on pain medication already. Would a doctor prescribe both if you want to wein off of your meds?? Both your pain meds and bunavail, or suboxone?? Just Curious. ## Hi Taryn, From what I understand, Bunavail contains the same active ingredients as Suboxone (Buprenorphine + Naloxone), so it's probably going to be treated in the same manner - being a Schedule III controlled substance. Apparently it was just approved by the FDA this past Friday (June 6th), and is supposed to reach pharmacies come October 2014. That would probably be the best time to ask your P.M. doctor or clinic about prescribing it. I don't know...

When they test and send it in by Fedex, how long before they get results back? The reason I am asking was last Thursday I found an old Fentanyl patch stuck to me that must have been in my bedding or something. Of course, the same day I got tested. Today is Tuesday and they haven't said anything but my counselor is getting old and isn't all there. I'm not even sure there was meds still on this old patch? Does someone put you on hold if it comes back positive or is the counselor the only one that checks? I guess I just need to know how long before someone at clinic would see a positive screen? ## I was wondering the same thing on how long these tests come back? I just started treatment and the quick panel showed I was clean on Friday and yesterday I saw the doctor and he said ...

I have never seen a government or it's people so anal retentive about opiates like our country is, it is ridiculous. Legitimate pain patients cannot even get pain meds now, because everyone is insane about them. They make pain meds for a reason, to stop pain! Everyone needs to get over their fixation with calling everyone a junkie that has to use painkillers. I've never seen anything like it! ## NO ONE WILL RESPOND TO MY THREAD BECAUSE THEY KNOW I AM 110% CORRECT !!! ## You said it! I am on methadone (not for pain)so imagine how I am treated! You don't know the half! And NY is more liberal than most states, especially in the city.

I have been taking Methadone for opiate addiction for almost 20 years! It has worked for me! The only time I relapsed was when I moved from NY to Ohio and had to wait to transfer into a different clinic. I have been clean since 2002! My problem is; I recently lost my medicaid because I do not live with my 12yr.daughter and her mom anymore.Ohio Social Services does NOT give medicaid to single men unless they are on disability or SSI. I am on neither being that I am capable of working, even though I am a insulin-dependent Diabetic also.I work part-time making 8.00per hour. The clinic I go to is 60 miles away, and medicaid was paying for my transportation also. Now I am faced with two dilemmas...getting to the clinic twice a week because I do not have a car at this time (I do get "take...

I am curretly taking Oxycodone. I was taking Methodone, and I am still having no luck with my pain and all the doctors I have seen won't give me anything stronger. Can I take both kinds of pills to help get rid of the pain? ## white round pill with watson 932 ## Its not a good idea at all! Your doctor may have short changed you when he did the conversion? I took Methadone for 11 years before switching to Oxycontin 3 months ago. The switch was very difficult! I had Methadone withdrawals for 3 weeks which made my pain even worse. I continued to hurt much more than I ever had while taking Methadone but my pain doc wanted me to give it 2 full months. I was about at wits end when the 2 months were up. That's when my doc reworked the conversion and admitted he short changed me because...

Who should I write to about shortages of pain meds? After 20 years of successful treatment of excruciating back pain by methadone, suddenly my pharmacy has to put in a special order which takes 6 days to fill. ## Unfortunately, this is just something that happens, once in awhile. Due to DEA directives, every pharmacy is limited in how much of any given controlled substance they can order in during a given month period, which may not necessarily be from the first of the month to the last, just like a fiscal year, it can vary depending on their usual ordering and stocking habits. Once they hit that limit, they cannot order in more, until they hit their new cycle. This was done to help gain better control of the supply and the amount any given pharmacy can order in is based on their custom...

I was on H and suboxone binge for the last 2 months I'd take H 3-8 bags for 2-3 days then hold off for 24 hours and take an 8mg suboxone pill to taper (just one dose that would last for 5-7 days. This last week though I needed more suboxone to feel comfortable and did an 8mg, 8mg, 4mg dose and then stopped cold turkey. I had been clean for 5 months and the last year and half with 2 very short relapses. Anyway the first 5 days i felt fine a little fatigued at times, then day 6 I started to get really depressed (like suicidally) in the afternoon and then fell asleep normally but started RLS and kicking around 5am watched tv for 2 hours then napped for one more (So i ended up with a full 8 hours) but then Day 7 I had mild chills and then late afternoon again i felt super depressed and ...

Hello everyone who is one methadone and wants to get off. I was on methadone for 6 years....I wanted to get off so I went to a rehab and did a 30 day suboxone detox getting down to 1 mg for the last 3 days. After 2 days off suboxone I started to get sick once again and decided to get back on methadone. That lasted for about a year before I had finally had enough. I did research and did a 16 day detox from 108 mg to 0 with minor side effects compared to the hell I know methadone withdrawal can be. This is what I did and it worked for me. I can't believe drs aren't talking of the benefits of DXM. Every day before dosing I took 100 mg of Dxm, and drank a few cups of grapefruit juice, the juice increases the effects of the methadone because it inhibits the enzyme that metabolites it...

My partner was recently given an injection and three day prescription of Buprenorphine/Subutex for severe pain during an ER visit. She is a veteran and suffers from chronic pain and has been years in pain and has managed to suffer without pain medication. After she received the injection and prescription, she realized how comfortable and nice life can be without having to experience severe chronic pain constantly. The Subutex did relieve her pain a great deal. We did talk to the ER doctor whom prescribed the medication and he did not know of a local doctor that would continue her prescription if Subutex for pain management purposes. I too take Subutex but mine is for addiction although I do also experience chronic pain but my partner doesn't fall into the category of being an addict...

I have been off of roxys for about 3 weeks now. I have been taking suboxone daily. I started passing kidney stones. So I took only one Roxy to help with the pain. Thankfully I passed my stone. I don't know how to go about starting back on the suboxone. I do not have a craving for the pain pills at all anymore, and I really didn't want to take one but I was in agony. Any info is appreciated. Will I have the precipitated withdraws that I have heard about? I don't think that taking just one would make me get back addicted, right? Please help. ## Oh my! From experience I know that kidney stones are horrible, I've had a couple of them over the past few years, seems I am becoming prone to them, as I am aging. As to the medication, if you were taking Suboxone for several weeks,...

I just filled a 3 day supply of my Subutex & when I got home I realized it was a new pill I've never seen before. I did some research & they're from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries. They're white, round & say 460. I'm being told by a friend that the Roxane brand (54's) will no longer be available. Does anybody know anything about this? I'm not a fan of change! LoL. ## Yes, Sun Pharmaceuticals lists this tablet as containing 8mgs of Buprenorphine, which is a generic for Subutex. Unfortunately, I do not have any information on the ones manufactured by Roxane. Have you started taking it, yet? The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mout...

I am currently on 10 mg of methadone 16 times a day. I have to have something for my backpain but cannot deal with the side effects of methadone anymore. What would be a replacement drug that would be as effective? ## Hi Sara, Sorry to hear that your pain medication isn't working as well as you'd like it to. Some of these side effects can be pretty horrible, so I don't blame anyone for trying to find an alternative. A few suggestions I can give you for other prescription pain medications include: Demerol, Morphine, Vicodin (extended release), Percocet, Dilaudid, Opana, Oxycodone, and Fentanyl. Your doctor would have a better clue as to which one of these would best replace the drug you're currently on, but honestly, there's no way of telling ahead of time how you...

I've been on various pain meds since I was 21 due to a VERY serious car accident where I broke my back and did a lot of other damage to my body. I've moved up through SEVERAL meds over the years, and have NEVER been fully pain free, but at times able to live life fairly normally, others not so much! I've been on methadone for a few years now and was actually doing pretty great! Didn't completely take away my pain, but made life liveable and side effects were something I could handle. But due to issues it was causing with my heart my pain doc just switched me from 10 mg 3x day to 30 mg of morphene er 3 times day. It's only been a week, but I'm MISERABLE! I take 15mg Morphine daily. If I take a 20mg Methadone, will it show up on my urinalysis at my pain doctors office? Only one dose is necessary right now. ## Lukky, if they do a full drug urine screen, be sure that methadone will show up...they test for it's beastly metabolite EDDP 2 - ethylidene - 1, 5 - dimethyl - 3, 3 - diphenylpyrrolidine (EDDP) . Just be honest with your doc. The thing that pisses them off [no pun intended] is when we lie. Good luck.
