opana 5mg ir vs oxycodone 5 mg ir which is better for the breakthrough I am getting ready to change and the doc says it will work much better. I am hoping that is the case. ## Yes, the Opana is twice as strong as Oxycodone. Each 5mgs of Opana would be equivalent to taking 10mgs of Oxycodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on Opana 40 er for almost 6 years the original ones worked great, then they reformulated them and they do not work as well. Sometimes my pharmacy has them that have a half moon on them and I was wondering what company makes them? ## Hello, Dolly! How are you? That logo is used by Actavis Pharmaceuticals. I actually have a couple of their medications here from my pharmacy and have had no problems with them. i would like to find out how i could see a picture of this pill. ## the name of the pill is oxymorphone. opana. it suppose to be shaped like a stop sign and yellow ## I would like to find out what an opana looks like. I found a pill and not sure if thats what it is or not ## There are a number of different appearances of Opana. The extended release ones are shaped like a stop sign with a number inscribed on them indicating the dosage in milligrams. For example, a yellow Opana with the number 40 on it is the 40 mg dose, green with 20 on it is the 20 mg dose, etc. There are also normal release doses in 5 or 10 mg. The 5 mg dose is a blue round pill with E612 over 5, and the 10 mg dose is a reddish-pink round pill with E613 over 10. I hope this helps. If you can post back with the specific...

I have been taking Opana er 40mg for over a year. My last refill was April 12, i was given a round pill with 40 on one side and E on the back. I am in constant pain! Any suggestions, I take 3 per day with 10/325 percocets 4x day. The pharmacy told the Dr. i must have been crushing my pills - i wasn't. I'm not crazy, these pills don't work. ## The Opana time released tablets were recently reformulated, with the intent to make them harder to abuse. Unfortunately, just as with the OxyContin reformulation, this has caused problems for some people, such as unusual side effects, or the medication not working as well as it used to. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Don't feel like you're crazy ! ! ! I'm upset with all the pain dr.Who have been giving his pat...

My husband is an addict. He has been taking Opana for 2 years+ with Lyrica. Looking for a treatment center, preferably in the NorthEast but will send him wherever. ## Is he taking them via doctor's prescription, or is he obtaining them elsewhere? And if they are prescribed, is he abusing them by taking more than the amount prescribed? If he's just taking them according to his doctor's instructions, he's not actually an addict and he can work with his regular doctor to taper off of them. A slow taper is safest and would prevent most of the withdrawal effects. Withdrawal symptoms, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills and diarrhea.

One pharmacy states an all out rejection of coverage for OxyContin, referring Opana instead. Another pharmacy requires a PA. How can this be? ## Hello, Sissie! How are you? What type of insurance do you have? I assume that these decisions are based on that. One pharmacy may not be aware that it can be covered with prior authorization. The FDA classifies this medications as being narcotic analgesics that carry the risk of being habit forming. They may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Which one has your doctor recommended? ## I am covered by Medicare Part D, and use WellCare. Doctor has prescribed OxyContin ER 15mg. 2x daily for severe pain under foot after surgery. As I do not drive, and usually end up walking a good 5 miles per da...

Does anyone know a safe place to get a prescription for opana er 40 mgs filled online? My Dr. cut me off and I am in pain (not from withdrawal), but agonizing pain in back and knee. Please someone help me find a legit pharmacy. ## I think in your situation, your best bet is change to a new doctor that will prescribe it to you. If you 'truly' need the medication for pain and your doctor cut you off without valid reason, you shouldn't be going to him anyways. It may be worth while complaining to the office about your situation in order to get what you need! Online sources for drugs are not always reliable and most are illegally selling prescription drugs without a prescription and trying to be discrete about it. The odds of you not getting what you paid for are very high if yo...

I need to know the best & fastest way to take a 60mg Opana intravenously. I'm prescribed Oxycodone IR 30mg so i don't know how to thin out the gel blob that results when u put water on it!! HELP! ## It is not safe to try to break down and inject any medication that hasn't been specially formulated to be used in such a manner. Tablets contain fillers and not all of them are meant to be broken down by the human body, they are normally just expelled as waste, but if you inject them, there is no way for your body to process out those substances. This can lead to blockages, which may result in stroke or embolism. Learn more Opana details here. What is opana a equal to in lotabs 10 ## Hello, Renee! How are you? Not factoring the effect of the Acetaminophen in the Lortab, you'd need 30mgs of the Hydrocodone to be equivalent to each 10mg Opana. However, it also should be noted that the Lortab is not time released, like the Opana ER, so it's pain relieving effects won't last as long throughout the day and due to the Acetaminophen in the Lortab, it isn't safe to take multiples of them, unless your doctor specifically approves. Even then, you have to make sure not to exceed 3,000mgs a day, or you risk overdose toxicity. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constip...

My 7 doctors agreed that I would have to be on pain meds the rest of my life after a auto accident in 1981, after more than 50 surgeries I was put on disability until I found a old doctor who help put back to the point I had a union of both bones mid shaft of Tibia & Fibula, plus 7 crushed disk, right rotator cuff that pops out & many other injuries. From 1981 until 1990 I was on just about ever form of pain meds the doctors said I needed. I was nuts by then, this was all military & VA doctors. I moved back home where I went searching for a good doctor that serve my home town as I live in the country. He sent me to many doctors & on Jan 2,2000 the team after test said no more T4, or any other medication but morphine sulfate, starting out with 15 mg er 3 x a day & as ...

Have severe pain cancer bone pain and pain from being a laborer ## Hello, Keith! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. If you have cancer, then any doctor should be able to help you. However, there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. You'll need to set up an appointment with a doctor, make sure the receive a copy of your recent medical records and then discuss your treatment options at the appointment. Are you seeing an oncologist? Do you have a PCP? If so, either of them should be able to help you. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I take oxymorphones (opanas) and assumed it would show as morphine. But my dr pulled me to the side today at the pain clinic and grilled me for popping for morphine on my drug test. It was scary! So the answer is you will get busted because opanas dont synthesize into morphine and the test will definitely show the difference. I will not make that mistake again.

i have to a drug test threw DCS in Tennessee and was wondering if they test for opana ## I'm sorry, but we have no information on what various agencies are looking for in their drug testing. Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone, which is a narcotic opiate and can be detected as such. Do you have a prescription for it, or are you under an agreement/court order, where you aren't supposed to take anything? ## Hi Mike, Because every testing facility is different, I would actually consider giving them a call and asking them (anonymously of course). They "may think" you are from a company that wants to drug tests their employees for Opana, and you are simply asking out of curiosity...just a thought. On another note, if you have been prescribed this drug, then you h...

My doc wrote opana 10 mg brand and I can't find any one to fill it ... Help .. ## Whereabouts are you located? I know a lot of patients in Florida and surrounding areas have been experiencing similar problems trying to fill their medications and have yet to find a solution. The best thing I can recommend trying at this point in time is checking with sites such as PharmacyChecker, as they only list certified (reputable) online pharmacies. Additionally, legitimate online pharmacies that carry the VIPPS seal are listed at: nabp.net/programs/accreditation/vipps/find-a-vipps-online-pharmacy/ You may have to wait for shipping, but I'd say it's better late than never. If you choose to go this route, I'd be interested in knowing how it works out for you in the end. I hope this h...

I have to take a drug screen for my dr nd I am prescribed opanas nd Percocet but I have takin more opanas than prescribed nd am out is there ne thng I can take that will show up in a drug test as the opana ## Opana is an opiate so any kind of opiate will blow positive. I know dilaudid is an opiate, I know this sounds off the wall but lomotil will blow positive and it's an antidirreaha medication, tincture of opium will show up too, do a web search for opiates I'm sure there's tons out there I just don't know them. ## bulls*** do not listen to this person, opana is not an opiate it is a synthetic opioid, it will show up on a drug test as oxycodone. You need to take an oxycodone pill to show up the same. These include roxicontin, oxycontin, percocet, opana, dilaudid etc. G...

I just started Opana 30mg twice a day and I didn't think it was working either, but 4 days into in, my pain has decreased from an 8 to a 2-3. You have to be patient and allow several days for it to reach a steady level in your system. Be patient...it will work. I have taken less breakthrough meds over the past several days than over the past 10 years. All I need now is 1-2 per day. If you are really looking for pain relief I would highly recommend the opana, and I have tried all but the fentanyl patches. If your looking for a high, don't bother....but they do make me a little sleepy but I will take that over pain anyday! ## Hello, Shelbygirl1970! Thank you for your very helpful post! feel bad physical and mentally what are the withdrawal systoms ?? ## Hi connie, Sorry to hear about what you're having to go through. Judging from your description it does sound to me like your experiencing what may be considered withdrawal symptoms (i.e. various physical and mental challenges such as restlessness, anxiety, mood changes, joint pain, etc.. just to name a few). I personally haven't heard of anyone going through withdrawals off of Opana that's only been used on two occasions, however, depending on how long you've been on Butrans for and whether or not you're still taking it, my thoughts are that some symptoms might also be related to side effects as well. But these are things that I would encourage you to talk with your doctor about if you feel that fur...
