It would be much easier if there was just one standardized designation, such as ER or XR, but there isn't. Hi. I have been on omeprazole and 600 mg of ibuprofen daily for at least 8 months. I have now had a new knee replacement 3 months ago and I have stopped taking both of these drugs, but now have dreadful indigestion and heartburn. I refuse to take omeprazole ever again. I also take a probiotic. Would it be a good idea to take a Zantac and see if that helps? I also have haemochromatosis. ## If you were taking the Omeprazole for 8 months, then abruptly stopped taking it, it is highly likely that part of your problem is due to a rebound effect. This may be causing you to overproduce stomach acid now. What's most likely happened is that your body became reliant on the drug to suppress the amount of acid produce by the stomach and now, it suddenly has to readjust to no longer having it an...
i m male 33, i am taking ocid20 in the morning to cure acidity but whenever i try to discountiniue the medicine, acidity returned with more intensity. ## How long have you been taking it? If it's been a long period of time, then it's likely that your body has gotten used to having this medication to help control the acid levels in your stomach. So, if you suddenly stop taking it, you end up producing far too much acid, because your body has gotten used to relying on the medication. Learn more Omeprazole details here.
I have been taking omeprazole 20 mg daily for at least 5 years because of GERD. Starting this past January I have had loose stools and my GP attributes it possibly to the omeprezole. As a result he changed me to ranitidine 150 twice daily. This medication does nothing for my GERD. I have gotten to a point that I would rather have the loose stools than the GERD problem. I go back to my GP next week. Any comments? ## Not all medications are effective for everyone that takes them, which is why there are usually several medications available in any given treatment class. I had gastritis and frequently have issues with GERD now, but when I tried the Omeprazole, it made my stomach pain worse. I tried the Ranitidine and it did nothing, but Famotidine/Pepcid finally turned out to be the one tha...
i have medication with an expiry of Apr 2011 would it be safe for me to use? what would be the dangers of using the expired medication? ## Altosec contains the active ingredient Omeprazole and it doesn't get dangerous once it's expired, but it does begin to lose effectiveness, so it probably won't work as well as it did when it was new. Learn more Altosec details here. Are there any other questions or comments?
After having back and chest pain symptoms my cardiologist recommend that I take Nexpro RD 40 mg and once I started on Nexpro I got relief. After being on Nexpro RD for 14 months I ended up having to take omeprazole instead of nexpro for about the last 3-4 weeks because I ran out of nexpro and thought it would not hurt much...but seems like my back and chest pain symptoms are back with a vengence. My current doctor switched me to Dexilant 60 mg and after being on Dexilant for the last 2 weeks do not see much relief. Is there a big difference between Nexpro RD 40 MG and Dexilant 60 mg - and if so what. ## Nexpro (Esomeprazole) and Dexilant (Dexlansoprazole) are both used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Please advice is it OK to continue with same medicine or should I have to switch. And will be there any problem in furhter since I have taken this Omez 20mg for 6 years. Please give me your valuable suggestion. ## Have you consulted your doctor and are they aware that you've been taking it continuously for so long?
