Sandoz omeprazole is inferior and does not have the same efficacy as other generic omprazole manufactured in the state. The FDA is NOT doing their job to protect Americans from inferior medications produced overseas. RiteAid has turned to maximizing profits over the safety of their customers by purchasing these drugs from manufacturers like Sandoz ## I'm having the same issue with Sandoz omeprazole. CVS changed to this brand in the summer of 2015 and I started experiencing acid reflux problems that very same day. Now again Express Scripts gave me the same Manufacturer's omeprazole 40mg and the very same day I again started having problems.

OMEPRAZOLE 20 mg IS THIS MEDICINE STILL EFFECTIVE & SAFE TO TAKE NOW ? ## It doesn't get dangerous, once it's expired, but it has most likely started to lose some efficacy and won't work as well. The best thing to do would be to dispose of them and pick up some new capsules that would be fully effective. I have taken omeprazole for 18 years. My system and blood tests all seem ok. My son says I should stop and take apple vinegar before each meal to save my liver. ## Hello, Joliver! How are you? Actually, having taken it for that long, the concern isn't your live, but the risks of hip fractures. PPIs are known to cause them with long-term use, as listed by the FDA. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, flatulence and stomach pain. However, there is nothing that proves apple cider vinegar to work. Thus, the best thing to do would be to speak to your doctor about your concerns and see what they recommend. Is there anything else I can help with?

For about 3 years now I have been taking Omeprazole 20mg. 1x a day, made by Reddy's, and have been feeling fine. Recently our prescription provider through our insurance sent me my new prescription made by Sandoz maufacturers; they are white as opposed to the bluish/gray made by Reddy's. I don't think they are working the same, does that make sense? ## Hello, Martyz4! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. Why have you been taking it for so long? Long-term use increases the risk of sudden hip fracture, which is why PPI's are usually only used for up to 4 months, at a time, then a break is taken. Learn more Omeprazole details here. And if you've been taking the same dosage for about 3 years, it could be that your body has just gotten used to the ...

But whenever I take Omez, I feel good and the problem goes away for the time being. Can you tell me what is the problem with me? ## Have you consulted a doctor? That's really the only way you are going to be able to get a definitive diagnosis. Well, it is a lower dosage, so it's not going to work as well as the higher dosage did. It will take awhile for your body to adjust to the lower dosage. However no, you shouldn't raise the dosage again, without your doctor's approval. Long-term use of these PPIs risks hip fractures, according to FDA warnings.
