Nuvigil And Bipolar Ii And Anxiety Disorder (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been taking lamictal 200 2xday along with cymbalta for several years. Moved, changed psychiatrist, took testing with neuropsychologist and was given the diagnosis of bipolar II and generalized anxiety disorder. Been off cymbalta for several months. I have been testing out different medicines for the past few months and no positive results. Doc started me on nuvigil a couple of weeks ago. Started out with 150 but was anxious, nauseous, and irritable. I never felt any of the "high" that i have read about. She had me to half the dose and I feel less anxious. But i am continually nauseous, anxious and tired and unable to function for more than 3-4 hours a day and some days, not that much The rest of the time, I lay on the couch. I am so discouraged. I cry alot. I don't know. So much to write about. I guess my question is...does nuvigil get better after taking it for a while ? I don't even know if it is what I should be taking for my diagnosis

Hi, Debbie!
I guess it was tested as a bipolar treatment, but it actually failed to prove efficacy in clinical trials. However, it appears that some doctors are trying it for that anyway, they are allowed to do so.
With those types of issues, plus the additional depression since you're crying while on it, I just don't think it's the right medication for you. I really think you should talk to your doctor about trying something else. That's kind of a dangerous spot to be, if you already have mental health issues, you certainly don't need something that may make them worse in any way.
How are you feeling today?
I went through that same diagnosis circus for almost 7 years with the same medicines prescribed before finally getting a correct diagnosis of fibromyalgia at Mayo Clinic. I walked into the psychology/pain office and the dr. said "Let me tell what you have been going through, you have one diagnosis after another; most doctors just look at you like you are crazy; you tell them you can hardly get out of bed in the morning, you feel like you did when you went to bed the night before as if you had no rest at all, you hurt all over, you feel as if you have the flu every day, you muscles feel like they have knots in them and in some places you can feel them, etc.
you cannot concentrate, you cannot remember things or having trouble recalling words when trying to speak, you want to withdraw from your family and all people, etc. I just sat there and cried - more importantly, my husband was in shock - because when the doctor said you have fibromyalgia he finally knew I was not faking it. I hope you find an answer -- it is so, so frustrating.
