Numb Sensation, Shortness Of Breath Reaction To Suboxone
UpdatedSo if anyone reading this could give me some insight I really need it! So it's like this, I've obviously had some addictions in the past (for about 3 to 4 years) and up until about 6 months ago I got on suboxone (though I've been on it periodically before) and have been pretty faithful to the program...for the most part. It's definitely been helping but a couple months ago i'd notice that sometimes if I took it later in the day when I go to bed i'd get a whole body numbing sensation really bad especially around my chest area and it would cause really bad anxiety. This would happen a couple times a month; even if I just drank too much it would start happening. I tried talking to my doctor and he doesn't think it's suboxone related but now the bad episodes don't happen because I've cut my doses in half and even still i'll get the heart fluttering, shortness of breath and a little numbness in my chest and arms every other day. I've been to the doctor and they couldn't figure out what it was even after all these evaluations. So I've been speculating that maybe because most of the main veins on my arms and wrists are all too collapsed from past addictions... And a lot of those veins are connected to my lungs. I'm thinking maybe the suboxone is making this cause a reaction to my lungs or something? I don't know how or what kind of doctor I can talk to about all this but if anyone has any insight it would really help a lot. Thanks!
Suboxone has been known to cause all the side effects that you have described, according to detailed FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, elevated potassium levels, vision problems, anemia, and irritability.
Unfortunately, most doctors do not know all the possible side effects of most medications, to be honest, if you were to print them all out, you'd usually end up with 10 to 20 pages listing them all. If you have questions about them, your best bet is to turn to a site like this, a researcher, or a pharmacist.
However, given that you've been having the numbness, just to be safe, consulting a cardiologist wouldn't hurt.
Are you on any other medications?
I would you take my blood pressure when I talk to Bill and when I get the numbers in my body I would take my blood pressure again I think your blood pressure dropping two are
From what I was always told and read you're not supposed to consume alcohol while under Suboxone treatment.
I've been on Subs for 4.5 years and tapering down since May. I've been sober from alcohol 5 years. So I've not had the experience you've had drinking while taking Subs.
Point is I was always told, by my Sub doc, that consumption of alcohol while in Sub treatment can lead to some serious side effects.
Hummmm!! I'm in shock actually cause I'm experiencing these same symptoms..... Wow!! I thought it was just me, I guess not.... Anyways I don't know the answer either myself and the medication I'm on at the moment but tapering on out of is methadone !! I haven't ever had these symptoms in my life until I got in the methadone clinic.... I'm also having PVCs a lot irregular heart rate .... I stay so nauseated an puke at times , tremors an terrible anxiety / panick attacks with mine .... So therefore i stay a nervous wreck and scared and worried ..... My breathing just difficult at times as well with low oxygen with it too.... I just don't understand and I'm tired of it and still seeking help/ answers :-( I wish I knew too... I'm sorry your going threw this too whatever it is..... Smh.... Shew!! I hope WE can find it out for sure and what it is exactly no more wondering it's keeping my mind more messed up being like this it's aweful..... I pray we get relief and thst it ALL goes away like now ASAP!!
It has been getting better cause I've been tapering myself off a lot.... I'm thinking I don't maybe its possible I could have developed an allergic reaction to it maybe? Haha still so uncertain but even so still kinda need it to get up in the morning. :/ :/ :/
A friend had a few friends pass away from heart attacks from taking subs so please try another doctor or even look online some more about deaths associated with subs. Please let me know how you make out. Sometimes doctors are so set in the standard answers they give patients that they refuse to change their opinion. Hoping all goes well for you, and again, please keep us updated.
I thought I read something about if you have any breathing or lung problems you should not take either subutex or suboxone because it will affect your breathing.
Hey Tyrone B,
I'm sorry to hear about your problem. If I may ask, do you smoke cigarettes and/or marijuana? Also, did you smoke any other substances? I know these are VERY personal questions but I went through something very similar. If you have a blood pressure cuff handy, take a minute to take your blood pressure and heart rate in BOTH arms.

I've been on 16mgs a day of the suboxone film strips and never felt better. I got on the strips due to a 5 year methadone addiction..I was only on 10mgs of methadone which is way below the average, the people that I encountered with tell me. But when I tried to taper down from methadone Forget it.. The withdrawal was brutal, and that's only 10mgs. I'm 53 so the older you get the more tired you get putting up with this s***. Anyway I've been on the subs for 5 months and don't have any cardio or anxiety, blood pressure problems. I have a blood pressure machine at home and mine runs 125/77 plus I'm on 30mgs of adderall which I've been taking for 5 years. A lot of cardio problems are genetic, overweight, smoking and drinking. Which I do none of. Drinking is a death sentence with subs. My recommendation is walk, run 4 days a week, eat right, take vitamins/supplements. A healthy lifestyle. I know a few guys in there late 70s in line at the methadone clinic on 80mgs a day and look and feel great. Because they exercise and do not do any kind of altering substance including smoking. That's another death sentence. I have told the older fellows to get on the subs, but the answer they give me is that they like the euphoria from the methadone. Soon as these guys gulp their dose down the nodding begins. That's one thing about suboxone, if you think you can get a buzz forget it. All it does is keep you from going through withdrawals.
Well I tell u what it's possible cus my doc says I might be having a interaction itself an mayb I could be allergic ..... Are you having weakness too or any itching or bump looking things on your body like I do?!
Well I tell u what it's possible cus my doc says I might be having a interaction itself an mayb I could be allergic ..... Are you having weakness too or any itching or bump looking things on your body like I do?! Alain headaches and blood pressure running low side
I'm sick without my medicine and sick with it it's aweful so glad to b getting closer to done
Suboxone lowers blood pressure period, just like you mentioned. Unless you have a history of high blood pressure or it's hereditary. My BP in the morning (have machine at home) runs 106/77. Pulse 54. Of course I walk 13 minute miles 5 days a week or 19000 steps. For my height, BMI is normal. People don't realize that from exercise, eating right, not smoking/drinking, no matter what your taking, your BP should be normal. Unless it's hereditary. I also take 30mgs of Adderall every day. No matter what drug your on, if you exercise and eat right you will be alright. I'm hearing a lot of crap about the effects of Suboxone. It's making me anxious, heart palpitations etc. If that was the case we all would be dead...
It could also maybe the Naltrexone in the drug. Some are very sensitive to it. Ask your doc to try Subutex, if he or her will and see if they go away. You could also try the Amino GABA and 3-5 mg of Melatonin at night too. Those will def help
The doctors don't want you to know that it suppresses your breathing as does opiates. And without the other active ingredient buprenorphine is a whammy of an amount. And again try coming off suboxone, I've done it. Crazy unbridled HELL!
The "veins in your arms connected to your lungs" is not physiologically possible other than the entire circulatory system is one large pool. Now, what route are you taking the sub? If it is not sub-lingual or oral then it will not be absorbed at the correct, ordered by your MD, route. Literally just about anything administered intravenously into the circulatory system can cause the symptoms you describe because the solution is transiently diluting the blood that supplies oxygen to the tissues affected. This certainly can cause anxiety too. This is in addition to the drug's method of action directly on the tissue. The inj. from an arm goes directly up and into the superior veina cava of the heart, dumps into the heart and is rapidly moved out to the lungs. Long story short, only knowledgeable, licensed people should IV fluids into the veins of humans in the appropriate legal environment.
Hi, what about methadone ?! I'm having a lot problems I wrote some about in some these comments and I left answer.... Thanx
I don't think if you didn't take the adderall you would have the energy to do what you do. It's in the class of methamphetamine, a stimulant.
The reactions are typical. I even had blurred eye sight. Then I quit taking suboxone and started with .5 xanex about 3 weeks. It helped relive all the symptoms and did not take the xanex long enough to get addicted.
I've been on suboxone 11 years without missing a day and I used 28 years. I have never heard of anything like this and I've worked in a treatment facility for 8 years. Your body chemistry must be different and I would certainly find out why. It saved my life and seen it save many others. Have you tried Subutext

A vascular Dr maybe. But u are strong to go thru this. God bless u in ur struggles
I'm not pregnant I have and iud right now I was just saying like I couldn't get subtext unless I was but I was thinking maybe the naloxone was causing it and maybe subtext would help
Well, it shouldn't be hard to prove you are pregnant. I don't want to appear rude but they do have BOTH urine & blood diagnostics that detect pregnancy - So that should be the easy thing to prove.
Addicts - none fare well - so much attention to VEINS - my only suggestion is that this is a unspeakable sorrow, but I know one human who actually did achieve a life standard addicted to illicit drugs for over 30 years and gave the entire world the middle finger - CHET BAKER - you might want to read his story. Please note he died finally at 56 yrs nodding off from the drugs induced while sitting in an open window and fell to his death.
Hey will the nerve meds help with tapering off to a lower dose of methadone then detox cold turkey at home once I'm down to 30 mg I'm down to 40 now I was on 100
I'm thinking because I'm taking the AN 415 orange Suboxone I was told there is no blocker. And I got 3-100 mg of morphine pills today. The blue ABC 100. I don't think it will block will it?
Well I've been on and off suboxone the past couple years.. Most recently I've been on it consistently for 8 months now and like I said it just kinda started out of no where all of a sudden like it was like one day I took it and all this started happening so I don't know why cause it definitely has helped me so much I hate that this is happening. I've been tapering my dose so that helps. I've tried to talk to my doctor about subutex cause I've been on that before as well but this doctors insists he can't write a script without proof of me being pregnant. So. Uhg. I just wanna feel normal.
