Has anyone had problems with lamotrigine (generic Lamictal) manufactured by Northstar Rx
Re: Nicole (# 75)
I am so bummed that Amazon switched my lamictal 200 mg to Northstar. First, the pills are large and I can’t swallow them so I need to break them in half. Second, when I was prescribed northstar lamictal a few years ago (just one Rx), it didn’t work at all. Third, I have been feeling very cry-y for the past few weeks for no reason and wonder if it’s the northstar lamictal. I hate it but it’s near impossible to get Amazon to give me a different manufacturer.
Re: Carol (# 71)
NorthStar at Amazon Pharmacy for the 200mg Lamotrigine pills. They gave me Unichem for the lower doses which worked well, I was afraid to try the Northstar brand until I came across the forum. I will be starting the Northstar 200's tonight, I am trying to remain hopeful!

I meant 2012 or 2013
Re: AM (# 57)
This is horrible. I to benefited from northstar. It eased my feeling of feeling like I was on a chain. The lamictal from northstar was so therapeutic in 2014. Why would they get rid of it? If anyone finds something similar help.
Re: Drew (# 70)
Never heard of par..back in 2014 Northstar made me better. Maybe they've changed in quality..but lamictal hasn't been as effective since I stopped taking Northstar. Dr Reddy's is a horrible company!!! I agree with her on that!
Re: Arlene (# 68)
Late reply but yes I agree..when I started lamictal generic it was Northstar at cvs..when I started feeling worse it prompted me to check bottles..they got rid of Northstar. I'm looking for a pharmacy that has Northstar. So far no e.
I have noticed a significant decrease in effect with Northstar. Temper is worse. Fuse is shorter. Patience is diminished. Northstar and Dr. Eddy’s are cheap and known to be ineffective and/or have negative side effects. I met with my doctor today and told her the pharmacy had switched me from PAR to Northstar. Her eyes bugged out and she told me that is the worst possible manufacturer to get. That and Dr. Eddy. It’s disconcerting that they’re allowed to put their version on the market but I guess if you have super mild symptoms then it might work.
Have been taking Teva Lamotrigine for years to treat bi-polar with good results.
Got new health insurance and switched pharmacies. New pharmacy refilled my Lamotrigine with Northstar. Have noticed more mental exhaustion and moodiness. Switching back to old pharmacy and Teva even though I have to pay a bit more. Thank goodness I found these posts - now feel saner.
Re: Austinkid (# 66)
Chewing the med makes it work faster. Never take the TEVA generic!!!! I got chest pains and suicidal thoughts. I was taken to the ER because of this brand. It could kill you!!! I have always taken Northstar. It works best!
Re: Chick 58 (# 50)
What did he put you on? I'd love to find something else to help me sleep.
Re: Joanie (# 51)
Agreed. On clono for 20 years. Nort is good imo. Actavis is just sugar. Usually I chew them and your throat either gets numb or not (I dont abuse them in any way. Chewing makes no diff in efficacy, it’s just habit and convenience I guess)
Re: Paul (# 63)
Are your pills scored on the back? I got 1mg and I take 1 & 1/2 a day. These are not scored, but the online depictions of it are?
Re: Paul (# 63)
Good luck. Maybe I got a bad batch. They seem to be working fine now.
This will be my first time trying Northstar clonazepam. I am on Brand now & I will save $387 dollars. Roche seems to work. How is North Star clonazepam for a generic? I have tried Teva and Mylan. I was surprised that Mylan seemed to last longer.
Re: Joanie (# 49)
No, it's not about perception. Read up on the fda, how drugs are big business, poorly regulated and what actually gets sold to us as "generics" in terms of their questionable bio-pharmaceutical equivalency. The vast majority is produced in 3rd world s***holes.
Re: etowah (# 60)
I confirmed it. My wife takes .5mg Xanax. I took one and the “zaps” are gone. Thankfully I can refill in 6 days. I’m changing pharmacies if Publix still has this junk generic. My advice, stay away from Northstar, Apotek, and anything from Aurobindo. I had an Aurobindo pill once that I needed to cut in a pill cutter. It would always result in one half pill and the other half in crumbles. I can’t remember what it was but everything I’ve gotten from Aurobindo has been junk.
My prescription for clonazepam has been changed twice in two months. By the end of the first month I was in withdrawal, it was Apotek. Now I’ve been on Northstar for about three weeks and am getting what I call “brain zaps”. I’m not sure what they are but I’m pretty sure they are related to the clonazepam (so called). I use Publix Pharmacy. They used to special order whatever you needed it whatever worked for you. A couple years ago they started using McKesson to supply them and just got what they got. Now they have dropped McKesson and I don’t know who they are using but they still just get what they get. I’m now getting generic plavix from Auribindo. It smells like cat urine. I’ve never had anything good from Auribindo. I guess I’m going to have to find a local owned pharmacy. I’ve tried CVS. They think they are my doctor, I won’t use them. Be aware folks.. it’s getting bad!
Re: Sadie (# 54)
I wish!!! No notifications of changes to Doctor, pharmacy or patient. . . Horrible for some one who might be sensitive to the new fillers!
Re: dapperdog (# 47)
I absolutely cannot stand Teva clonozapham. I went to CVS unknowingly and felf like I was n withdrawal all month I always took Qualitest #1. The best. I filled a complaint with them and the FDA. Thanks to Trump the DEA really monitors everything. Screw them. So I'm taking sandox but recently given Northstar. They are ok.
I have been on the Northstar lomotrigine 25 mg for almost 5 years and it helped me My Pharmacy changed to Aurobindo manufacturer and it produces what is called the shield lomotrigine - I have had a high increase of blood pressure pounding in my chest and tremors. Pharmacy tried to get me the original lomotrigine L127 and they do not make it any more so I called the company to ask if there has been a change in the ingredients as Northstar too is making a shield lomotrigine I am having the same problems. . .That stinks. I am sensitive to chemicals and having a lot of problems with this whole thing trying to get a med that will help me
