Quite a story you have. I can relate. Sorry to hear all that. But it is what it is. May i ask how old are you?
I am having similar issues, I have had issues with my knee and also live here in Queretaro. For the past year i have been taking the lertus CD and it has helped some regarding the pain but yiu need to take a decent dose. They come. You must make sure they prescribe the CD versión. This is the pill you are Referring too they are 50 mg diclofenec/50 mg codeine. They are similar to tylenol 3 in the States. I have spent enormous amounts of money on this medication and 8th has barely helped my knee problems. I traveled to El Paso to receive my normal Norco 10mg
I am yet to find a different solution and cant afford to keep traveling. I am also rambling but there is no comparison. If you find a solution to this issue please inform me. Thank you and I hope this was helpful as well.
As a perm disabled person on S.S. living in Mexico, I have osteoporosis (didn't know I had it until after I arrived here and began having a new, horrible pain in my lower back and increased pain mid; found out I have a fractured spine; low bone density), fibromyalgia, and other things. Chronic pain is a major problem, and it took me almost 1 year to find out the info I'm giving u.
First, I take diclofenac; avail over the counter here. It's not a true pain med. the only doctors in Mexico that can prescribe U.S. Schedule II pain meds are anesthesiologists. Real pain meds u get elsewhere r suspect. These drs are only found in major cities; a few of them have pain management practices; in San Miguel Allende there's only one. I've been here over a year; just found him in July. Doctors lied to me telling me U.S. Sched II pain meds didn't exist. I wasted enough money; return to L.A. every 6 months to see my pain dr. (until I get my perm visa). My insurance covers me there; I could never get insurance here based on pre-existing conditions.
U.S. Norco doesn't exist in Mexico. I was taking 10/325 until I moved here and the new pain began. Went to a back specialist in Mexico City who, besides charging me $90 and lying to me about Percocet being unavailable, gave me three meds that gave me extreme left side stomach pain and nausea for 17 hours. Ended up at the Red Cross Hospital.
For a list of what's available for pain, research "LEY GENERAL DE SALUD" from Mexico. I'd attach the pdf if I could; site's easy to find. This is the health law, sort of an FDA org. Go to pages 75-81 or so for controlled meds by groups; pain is first (it's a 200+ page doc).
Endocil LP made byBioGenTec is a legitimate med, because I got it from an actual anesthesiologist. So far it works, but not as well as regular Percocet, although that stopped working as well with last package I got over 2 mos ago. IR isn't available here. 30 20 mg tabs cost $1200 mxp (about $100), but I don't spend this every time. After a visit to my U.S. dr, I get my meds, plus scripts w/advance fill dates, leave them w/a very good friend who sends them to me through USPS. I pay $6 copay and shipping, but get all my meds for maybe three more times after I leave L.A. In between, I use Temgesic in vials; hate IV's, but it works ok and is cheap enough, IF I'm getting my meds on time from U.S. Customs allows them through; my name is on the bottles, and up to 20 lbs pkg costs $38-48 to send, depending on time. Using "business papers" or "socks" on the label. Perfectly okay.
I signed up online for my perm visa and the process will b easier when I go to the Consulate again in 2 weeks. don't know how much of my problem this will solve, but I moved here 'cause my S.S. check wasn't enough to continue living on my own, altho it's the max benefit, living in other people's houses, etc., after 50, after living well and independently all my life subjected me to loss of privacy, theft, abusive landlords, and worse. don't regret move; it's lack of 3 meds that causes problems...percocet, 50,000 units of Vit D and Xanax (this one's available but very expensive). My pain dr here put me on anti-depressants; hopefully that'll lower my anxiety and I won't need as much Xanax. The entire process has been a nerve strain; trouble sleeping and quite depressing, but I'm feeling better with the anti-dep. Turns out there's a generic for Lexapro that's 400mxp cheaper than the brand one dr prescribed here. I couldn' afford another med, but thanks to a legitmate pain dr, I've stopped crying every day and feel much better after only two days dose.
Hope this is helpful to you. Sorry I rambled. Wanted to give u and other chronic pain sufferers what it's like living w/it in Mexico, based on my experience. It pays to know what's real. there r many unscrupulous cheapie drs here. i found a good "primary" dr in my town for emergency needs, who's very cheap to see, kind, knowledgeable and understands my pain and situation, although I'm moving where my pain dr is by Jan. Having most recent test results, etc., to prove illness, very impt too.
Take care and best of luck to you.
Hey,
I can find images of Lertus CD anywhere. I ordered some. They are small, pink and round with a slash down one side. There are no other markings.
Is what Mexican Lertus look like?
I'm trying to be safe.
Based on my research, Lertus 50mg contains the active ingredient: Diclofenac Sodium 50 mg.
Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat mild-to-moderate pain, and helps to relieve symptoms of arthritis.
In my honest opinion it's not very similar to Percocet or Norco at all in terms of potency. The only thing that makes these drugs similar is the fact they they can all be used for pain. But the difference in potency is probably night and day, depending on your tolerance levels. I personally have only taken Norco before so I can't speak based on experience, but Diclofenac is not an opiate or controlled substance either, which suggests the major difference in strength.
I hope this helps!
