My doctor changed my Nexium prescription from 40 mg to 20 mg. Can I separate the pills I have in half so I don't waste what I have? ## No, you can't safely split a capsule, because there is no way to ensure that you are evenly splitting the amount of the medication that is inside them. Learn more Nexium details here. Why did your doctor lower the dosage? Unless there was some reason for doing so, there is likely little harm in finishing up what you have of the higher one and then moving to the lower dosage, since this is just a proton pump inhibitor that reduces the amount of acid your stomach produces. ## I just tried Nexium 24 (20 mg pills), and it worked great at stopping my heartburn, which I get every day and sometimes multiple times/day, but, it gave me bad cramps and diar...
7 REPLIES UpdatedGood day, I have been taking Nexmezol for years, but it has become very expensive. My doctor has advised a change to Pantocid which is cheaper in South Africa. Which one is the better product and is there another type of generic available? ## Good question....I used to take Nexium and switched to its genetic Nexmezol but its almost as expensive....just ridiculous to pay so much for the generic. What is as effective but one doesnt have to go into overdraft to afford it? ## They are both proton pump inhibitors which work by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach to help treat, or prevent conditions, such as GERD, heartburn, and ulcers. Nexmezol contains the active ingredient Esomeprazole, Esomeprazole Information Pantocid contains the active ingredient Pantoprazole. Pantopra...
2 REPLIES UpdatedWhite capsule with navy circular stripe around the middle with a yellow imprint of "181". May be generic nexium. ## You are likely referring to Esomeprazole Magnesium 20 mg delayed release capsule - it is supplied as a white capsule with the imprint I81 (that's an uppercase letter I instead of the number 1 as the first letter). It is indeed an over the counter generic Nexium, a proton pump inhibitor for treating GERD. (NDC 0363-0508, among others). Inactive Ingredients: - Silicon Dioxide - Fd&c Blue No. 1 - Gelatin, Unspecified - Hydroxypropyl Cellulose, Unspecified - Hypromellose, Unspecified - Magnesium Carbonate - Magnesium Oxide - Methacrylic Acid - Ethyl Acrylate Copolymer (1:1) Type a - Glyceryl Monostearate - Polysorbate 80 - Propylene Glycol - Shellac - Sodium La...

It seems to last longer each time. I take melatonin at night. The only meds I take are Nexium and Celebrex. ## Have you tried not taking the nexium and melatonin to see if it's the Celebrex those 2 you can do without but the Celebrex you might be able to change to a similar med just different manufacturer. I have vertigo or meneers disease its caused by inner ear problems you should go to a ENT (ear nose and throat doctor they can help with that ## Sounds like you might have low blood pressure or some type of cardiovascular issue. I'd definitely goto your doctor and discuss this issue with your doctor because it maybe a warning si...
4 REPLIES UpdatedFilled my nexium 40 prescription from what I thought was a Canadian pharmacy. Package finally came in. Inside is medicine labeled "feksen" that says it is EQ to Esomeprazole which is Nexium. The pill is orange in color with no markings. I have tried to email the company from which i purchased this from but they do not return my emails. Please advise if this really is the eq. to nexium. ## Hi Ann, Do the tablets have an imprint of some kind on them? I haven't been able to find any information whatsoever on "feksen", let alone being able to relate it to Esomeprazole. If the company hasn't even been returning your emails, I would also be wondering if those are real pills at all. ## no markings at all. weird to me that the sleeve that they come in are labeled as such...

3 REPLIES UpdatedI have just been prescribed Prexum 2.5mg and after taking it for 3 days have developed a shaking feeling in my stomach and legs I stopped taking the medication and the shaking stopped I started to take the medication again and the shaking returned could this be an allergic reaction? The only other medication I take very occasionally is Nexium ## Just checked up on this, it is recommended that Prexum be given with a diuretic or digoxin. Otherwise, your dose might be too high if you are feeling “fluttery”? ## It can be prescribed alone, it doesn't have to be given with another medication. As to the tremors, the NIH does report that as being a possible side effect of this medication, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination, so not it is not an allerg...
4 REPLIES Updatedto take Hp kit tablets ## my doctor prescribed pantocid after endoscopy but forgot to tell me whether to take after food or before food ## What is the proper procedure for taking the HP kit before and after food? ## I have an h-pylori infection, for which my doctor suggested I take nexpro HP kit. But I wanted to know when the best time to take it is? Please give me details. ## How do I take the hp kit? Should all three tablets be taken together or should each tablet be given a time gap? Never been a big eater, now I'm always hungry. ## I never had any side effects. I was on it for 4 yrs. I still need it desperately, but can't afford it even w/ medicaid discount. ## Isn't there something else you could use that's no so expensive? ## PS: Vega, Ur the one that got me thinking of the baking soda, when U wrote on Fri, 6/24/05 if there might be something else to use that's not so expensive... 8 REPLIES UpdatedHi I am 49 and have developed itchy red rash with small bumps on my neck and face. Has occurred only in last two weeks on both sides. I do have herpes and asthma, and take Valclovir ... But meds for those are longstanding, whilst Nexium and Ramipril are new. I also have clinically isolated syndrome and recently had leg and eye issues causing the dr to revisit ? MS. ## It is possible that these symptoms are due to MS, but according to the NIH, they could also be due to medication side effects. However, an itchy rash most frequently designates an allergic reaction, which means you should consult your doctor immediately, because it could mean you are allergic to one of these medications, according to FDA reports. Other allergic reactions may include swelling and trouble breathing. How are ...
1 REPLY UpdatedI am taking nexium daily. I have found it necessary due to my rheumatoid arthritis drugs causing terrible acid reflux. It works for its purpose well, however I have found it has put about 30 to 40 pounds of weight on me since the start of the daily routine. If anyone else has suffered this fate i would hope you would comment under this thread. I feel the weight gain is much more common than the "rare" connotation that is associated in side effect listings. ## Hello, Mick! How are you? Yes, I have to agree with you. Most medications in this class do cause weight gain more frequently than that which is listed in the FDA side effect reports. However, there is also a chance that your other medications could also be contributing. What else do you take?
1 REPLY UpdatedI have chronic acid reflux, GERD, etc. I currently have esophagus erosion and my doctor prescribed Nexium 40 mg for 2 weeks. I have 20 mg tablets. My question is should I take the 40 mg (2 tablets) at one time or one in the morning and one in the evening? which way is most effective? ## Generally, unless instructed otherwise, one should be taken in the morning, just before your meal, and one in the evening just before a meal. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and flatulence. However, it never hurts to double check with your doctor to be sure. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?
1 REPLY UpdatedI have a pink oval pill. On the front it says AEI and on the back it says 40mg. Can you please tell me what it is? ## Hi Lolly, A pink oblong pill with "A/EI" on one side and "40mg" on the other is reportedly a non-US version of Nexium - possibly Canadian, but I've yet to confirm that. From what I could gather, it appears to be a delayed-release tablet and contains 40mgs of the active ingredient Esomeprazole. Nexium (Esomeprazole) is used to treat symptoms of GERD, acid reflux, peptic ulcers and more... I hope this helps!
1 REPLY Updatedside effects of nexpro ## Nexpro is sold in the U.S. under the brand name Nexium, it contains the active ingredient Esomaprazole, this is a proton pump inhibitor that helps reduce the amount of acid that your stomach produces. Common side effects can include: nausea, gas, diarrhea and headache. You can read more about the medication here: Do you have any questions? ## I am using Nexpro20 for the past four months ; stomach appears to be floated ; more gas and frequent urination , less sleepn
2 REPLIES UpdatedFound in my car, not sure who it belonged too? What is it for? My friends have been in the car & I have young grandkids. The tablet is peach colored and oval with the letters A E H on one side & 20mg on the other. ## This is listed as being a 20mg Nexium gastroresistant tablet, it is used to help treat or prevent conditions such as heartburn, gastritis, GERD, and ulcers. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and flatulence. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedIs Nexpro 40 helpful for acid reflux? ## i need to know the information abt the nexpro fast 40 tablets ## It is just another generic for Nexium, which contains Esomaprazole, used to treat ulcers and GERD. ## Is there any permanent solution of acidity as i am taking Nexpro 40 mg by last 2 years ## I am suffering from Gastric and consulted the doctor regard to the disease. They have conducted Endoscopy and to the extent of ERCP and recommended use tablet Nexpro 40 every day 30 minutes before the breakfast. I am using this tablet from 2007 November onwards. My gastric is under control with nexpor tablet. If I dont take the tablet, resulting buring sensation in the chest then I have to chew a tablet i.e. Gelusil MPS. 7 REPLIES UpdatedHi, I've been taking Nexium for about a year having switched from Lansoprazole which seemed to have become less effective for my reflux issues. The side effects have gradually worsened over the last 6 months, beginning with bloating that worsened as the day went on but in the last 6 weeks constant headaches and loose stools and diarrhoea with nasty stomach cramps. I stopped taking the Nexium 2 days ago and I'm currently using Ranitidine while my Dr is arranging tests. The headaches are a little better but the gastric symptoms are unchanged, how long might it be before things get back to normal? Many thanks, Matt. ## Hello, Matt! How are you? I'm very sorry about what you've experienced. It may take about a month, or so, for the side effects to fully go away and for your ...
1 REPLY UpdatedFound a purple pill that is the color of next nexium but the imprint is upjohn331...anyone know what this could be? ## I think the imprint is wrong. Either someone has tampered with this, switching the capsule or it could be nexium but I wouldn't take chances. Throw it out! ## @Nay, Whereabouts did you get it from? Depending on a pill's origin, I feel that it's legitimacy could probably speak for itself (i.e. from India, the internet, a local pharmacy, a friend, etc). I've also seen the following drug manufacturer's names associated with other pills bearing an "upjohn" imprint: Greenstone LLC, Pfizer (Mexico), Pharmacia Corp. Perhaps through contacting them, they can determine if your pill fits the description of something they actually make (or used to make)...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI burp a lot and certain days have no appetite, I feel like there's a bubble on the inside is popping, and I feel weak and my stomach starts to pain, as if I need to go to the loo, but can't, I even have pain in my chest as well on my back, could this be excess gas, I was diagnosed with gastritis, I was on nexiam for 2 weeks but it hasn't helped. Could it be that the food has not digested properly, and it's siting in my colon that's causing the problem, I pass stools only once a day, and could I be constipated. Please help ## Hello, Kumarie! How are you? Those can all be symptoms of the gastritis that you've been diagnose with, as reported by the NIH. I suffer from it myself aid know that it can be quite miserable. It's a condition where the inside of your st...
1 REPLY UpdatedI just took my first Nexium pill before bed last night. This morning I have horrible diarrhea. I know diarrhea is a side effect. Does anyone else have experience with this? How long did it last? ## Hello, Naomi! How are you? Most side effects are transient and usually go away with time, as your body gets used to the medication, but it may take 3 or 4 weeks. I generally found it only to last a week, or so, for me, when I was taking it. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, stomach pain and flatulence. Is there anything else I can help with?
