Nexium Alternatives

I have GERD, suffer terribly bad. I've been cut off medicaid & I have not a cent to my name. My Dr. prescribed Nexium for me for about 2 yrs. now. I haven't had Nexium for about a year & suffer daily w/ GERD. Sometimes if my family has any extra change someone will buy me over the counter anti-acids for me which I'm very grateful. This morning I sit here hurting sooo bad, then I remembered the old Baking Soda in the spice cabinet. It's not Nexium, but it helps...

You are very right about baking soda. I am in SA and i recenlty by mistake discovered that a urinary alkaniser used for bladder infections, took my acid right away. It was so bad i could feel it boiling up in the back of my throat. I am sure you have an equivalent med in your country. I have also been on Nexium and found it expensive. Try this - really cheap to buy compared to Nexium.

I used to use omeprazole (sp?) which i think is Zantac. Whatever it is, Target and Walmart both had it on their cheap generic list (I can’t remember if it was $3 a month or $5 but they had a list).
