New Subutex Laws (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI went to see my doctor this week and he told me that the FDA and the DEA had passed a new law for prescribing Subutex. As of July 1st 2015 Subutex can only be given to pregnant woman or to someone with documentation saying they can't take Suboxone. If you don't have that you will be put on Suboxone.
kkh Who are you talking about? I was just asking if the new medicine that I am on will react bad with suboxone. Not sure if it is safe just asking if anyone knew. I have not gave any bad info.
Go to this site (tls.mleesmith.com/downloads/2015_2016/bills/SB0871.pdf) and go down to the bottom of page 3 and read thru to page 4. This is a copy of the bills that was passed.
Wow Jim, why are you on this page? Compassion... Probably not! To educate us, not that either because you have to have knowledge to do that. So what is your reason for being in the Medchat room? It is safe, is there something you want to share? Does a family member use and it's hurting you? I don't make assumptions but if you are so bored that you choose to hurt someone's feelings by cyber bullying, I am going to use knowledge to determine you were abused and now you are an abuser... But not of drugs. My expertise tells me that 1 in 12 recover from drug addiction but those abused will abuse others with the possibility of your recovery being zero. Because 1500% of children abused are neglected more than any other addiction can cause neglect in a home ; that means your bulling is worse then someone managing their own pain management... Addicted or not. Don't complain to someone who requires a specific medicine if you are not a dr. Because all you did was give me an opportunity to share my June 5,2015 discovery of abuses and your type if abuse problem is worse Then my pain management by 1500% at least.
Actually u are wrong they are NOT the same thing. You should not speak when u are uneducated on the subject.
Suboxone saved my life !! I can WORK and function on them and live life normally. So I would be doing dope still not working g and doing crimes to survive. Got on these and wala I can work and live life and play with my kid and be happy and she has a wayyy better life as I am clean now and not druged up so bad I'm nodin 24/7.
Suboxone or dope and being high I choose suboxone and a clean life of work and family. You have no clue what u are talking about, this medicine is amazing and the only thing that fixed my life and made me WORK.
Please next time don't speak as u r uneducated on this.
Jim.....How dare you criticize these people who are trying to get off drugs. you ask why they don't research BP meds, etc. Because they are addicts trying to find support on this thread. why are you on here? Let me guess, you were bullied in grade school, never quite made the grade in school or work. you are intimidated by mentally strong people and now you are a bully because you don't like yourself. Newsflash.......most of us don't like you either! take your rude mouth and arrogant, unknowledgeable self and try a place where you can understand what people are saying. BTW.....you had absolutely NO business calling Shelly a druggie. Enjoy your day....or don't.
First, a huge thanks to your hubbs for his service. Second, F*** JIM!!! He's a d***** bag troll who spends his time insulting strangers on a chat. How sad is that? He obviously needs to put others down in order to feel better about himself. Again...SAD. It's basically: "let me find some people with problems and see if i can add to them!" I do understand your need to explain your hubbs' situation to this troglodyte, but really sweetie? Don't friggin bother b.c. he has proven he is just a sad, ridiculous loser.
Is anyone having a problem getting their Buprenorphine filled at the pharmacy? With in the past 3 months I have had to switch pharmacies because of new laws and they are no longer allowed to fill your prescription. I am not pregnant but I have an allergic reaction to the naloxone. My Dr. Gave me a letter (to give to the pharmacist) explaining why I am on Buprenorphine.
I go back to the Dr. In a few days and I have no clue how I am going to get my prescription filled.
Yes I'm off opiates & was prescribed suboxone but when the doctor found out my worst insurance didn't cover them & I was struggling to pay 500$ a month for the script he switched me 2 subutex 175$ a prescription, has been fine for a few months except now I can't get them filled, yesterday I worked (struggled) took today off to use another tank of gas looking for a pharmacy to fill them. Between the two 50$ counselor appointments doctor's appointment & a perception suboxone it will cost me 650$ a month with insurance. & I know everyone has heard this a million times but I'm a single father raising 2 kids 5 & 17 with a full time job & no government assistance I'm not looking for sympathy or hand outs just a fair chance
Wow to you. If you had any idea about what you are talking about you would know that the vast majority of addicts would gladly get off dope, if it were a simple matter of will power. Addiction rewires your brain, so do a little research before showing your ignorance. I'd enjoy a battle of intellect / knowledge / and compassion, but you are obviously unarmed.
It's sad that pain killer addiction is the worst epidemic the U.S has ever seen. It's relatively easy to get a prescription for Oxycontin, or even worse, Fentanyl. But good luck trying to get in a treatment program for it. 15 years ago at the age of 40 I had yet to use any kind of drugs. Then I broke my back in an accident. At the end of 3 years my doctor had me up to 8 x 80mg OxyContin. He told me on the day he took me off them I would feel like I had a mild case of the flu for a couple days.
The rest of the story is the same as millions of other patients that were clueless as to the road they were about to travel. My story is one of the very few with somewhat of a happy ending due to a subutex program. If only subutex were made easier to obtain then perhaps I wouldn't have lost my home on 10 acres of land, all my vehicles including 2 Harley Davidsons, and my wife. The DEA needs to worry about the schedule 1 drugs that cause addiction, and not the schedule 3 drugs that help people get off them. Who gives a damn if subutex can help one person out of 10 that will abuse it then so be it.....
It might be helpful if a link to this new law was posted by someone. Not a link to a new report but a link from the DEA website and/or Revised State statues
Michael, it is awesome that you are researching help. You can do it! And I want to hear about your success.
Actually they do give alcoholics medication I'm not sure that it's benzos(since your so familiar with street lingo) however, a true alcoholic does get some form of medication similar to keep them from having violent seizures. Just as the FDA wouldn't tell a diabetic to exercise and eat healthy so they don't have to have insulin so they can take a pill form to control their sugar levels or tell someone with chronic pain to get surgery instead of pain medication they shouldn't try to decide what's best for a recovering addict.... The DOCTOR knows what's best for THIER patient. All it boils down to is what gets someone voted back in office or how more money can be made.... Know your facts before you go on with your incorrect rants....
Wow, just the worlds foremost authority on EVERYTHTING, huh? real up on what "most addicts" do and don't do, people "can't" overdose on this or that, they should put coke back in the coca cola....are you freaking serious? I think you like to hear yourself type. you got so far off of the subject, its a wonder i stayed awake that long. I love the "and NO, I'm not a teacher...." trust me dude, NO ONE here thinks you are a "teacher".
BTW...my comment above was meant for the a-hole JIM at the beginning, lol.
Jim, it seems to me you are a little bit uninformed when it comes to addiction. I suggest you do some research on it. You are condemning people for something that you do not understand at all. I don't know what has happened in your life that makes you have such a disdain for people with addiction. Hopefully you will be able to understand the reason for what appears to be hatred and correct it. There is a very good pod cast called STUFF THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW. There is a very good episode on the subject. Do youreld a favor and check it out. Maybe you will get out if the "Grow be a man" attitude.
jim is a d.bag of the first magnitude. jim is a cyber-bully and a troll and probably has anger issues because he still lives in his moms basement. jim is going on a website about drugs and purposely seeking out addicts so he can make fun of them. how pathetic is that? jim must have some serious self-esteem issues, because jim needs to make fun of others in order to feel better about him self. all it does is make jim look like a pathetic troll and a big time jerk. lets all point at jim and laugh......hahahaha look at jim, what a loser he is. happy holidays, jim. enjoy your stocking full of coal.
I've been on subutex for 3 years and there have been no changes so your doctor is giving you wrong information
BOB: Oh NO!! Please don't tell me "JIM" is back!! What a complete loser that guy is. Let's cruise forums regarding drug addiction and rip on the addicts in order to make ourselves feel better!! UGH I hope you are wrong. What a D.bag!
It has begun to spread to other states, at least close by. I live in North Mississippi close to Memphis and my doctor switched me from subutex, which I have been on for 2 years, to suboxone. Suboxone has caused me bad migraines in the past, along with just a general awful feeling. There was no warning or preparation. The medication itself costs 4 times the amount of the subutex, which has put going back to dope more affordable than my maintenance plan. Subutex has allowed me to live a normal, functioning life, where I can pay my bills and be happy and productive. Now they are changing things for every one and it is going to cost many addicts their life, just so the pharmaceutical companies can grow richer. They dress it up saying it's because people "abuse" subutex, but cannot with suboxone. That is a horrible misconception, you can abuse suboxone just the same. Naloxone is not meant for a daily dosage. It is to be administered in emergency overdose situations. The long term effects cannot be good. Every doctor believes that subutex is a better care plan. At least the ones whose pockets aren't filled by the drug reps. A doctor should have the final say on what is best for each individual patient. They are slowly forcing states to ruin the life of their patients. This is actually being allowed in the South because we live in such a corrupt, backwards, impressionable area of the country. It's criminal what they are doing to us addicts. I for one fight every single day to keep moving forward in my recovery and not go back to a life of misery chasing a high. Our maintenance medication does not make us feel high, it keeps us from being miserable. And to now see that we can no longer afford our recovery, it is terrifying. And for anyone who doesn't approve, we do not want to be this way, it isn't all party party all the time. Being an addict is a lonely, depressing, crippling monotonous life. Good luck to everyone out there fighting. An addict has more strength and resilience than any other.
