New Subutex Laws (Page 16) (Top voted first)

Updated

I went to see my doctor this week and he told me that the FDA and the DEA had passed a new law for prescribing Subutex. As of July 1st 2015 Subutex can only be given to pregnant woman or to someone with documentation saying they can't take Suboxone. If you don't have that you will be put on Suboxone.

Well thats just smart. Now, because suboxone is so expensive. People will be put on methadone which is a nightmare in itself I heard. Way to go DEA... Not!

I'm telling you straight up...I have taken them for a long time...so, if you have withdraws, maybe your on something or the ladder. But I DID call my pharmacy when I first started taking them because I was worried about withdraws too...She said, actually the pk's are stronger than subutex and no I won't have withdraws. She then explained to me about suboxone and what happens if you abuse it, etc. I'm no fool and you are giving wrong info. Yes, the doctors like you to wait as long as possible to help the meds work better for you.

That is what I said..subutex does not put you into withdraws when taking pk's

Lol...I'm to calm down. I'm actually pretty chilled. All I have to read is your first sentence and I'm done. I'm not into reading a book. I was already told about you and how you address things.
Have a good life... I'm moving on here
Peace out

MARY: Ok, so you are good with being ignorant of the proper information? That's too bad. I am on here to help people, not prove my superiority. That's my ONLY reason for being on here. HELPING. Wow, you are really a piece of work aren't you? You have the right not to read what I wrote. It's not a "book", it's information. Ever here the phrase "knowledge is power"? But hey, don't let being misinformed stop you. You are just plain wrong, and hopefully no one on here will take your bad advice. What a horrible, arrogant person.

BL: I hear ya. I was saying "active" ingredient as in the ingredient that matters to people in these two drugs. But yes, technically there is naloxone in one and not in the other. :) I just hate to see someone take the advice of some people on here (Mary) and end up in a world of hurt because someone thinks their own one-time personal experience is the only possibility. PEACE.

MARY: And yes, you should calm down. Every single sentence you wrote to me is not only bad information, it ends with an exclaimation point, indicating YELLING!! What you experienced with the subutex after taking painkillers is NOT the norm. So I would hate to see someone take what you said as gospel, and end up in a bad rattle. Not sure why you are so angry AND resistant to learning. Shame.

BL: The thing is, it doesn't matter whether a person takes Subutex or Suboxone too soon after opioids. Either one will make you sick. I was always on Subutex (the one WITHOUT the Naloxone) since the Naloxone made me very ill. I took Subutex too soon after taking H, and went into the worst W/Ds I have EVER experienced. It was a horrible NIGHTMARE!! My spouse had to literally shove Trazodone down my throat until I finally passed out.

People think its the Naloxone that does it, but its actually the Buprenorphine itself. It's because of its affinity for binding on the opiate receptors. It knocks any and all other opiates off of there VERY abruptly. The reason Naloxone is even in Suboxone? To keep people from taking the Bupe intravenously! I was told (mistakenly) by a pharmacist that it was ok to take the Subs not long after taking the opiates....WRONG!!! Makes me wonder what that Mary person is taking when she says "pain killers", and whether they are even opioids. She never specified. She did, however, tell me she doesn't need any of the info that I'm giving out, even though my info is solid. Not sure what her problem is but she comes off as arrogant, ignorant and rude, so whatever. PEACE

MARY: And btw, "how I address things" is to be helpful to people. I have had people tell me on MANY of these threads that I helped them very much. You? You dispense bad advice. And sure, you've "already been told about" me. Right. So now you are delusional AND ignorant. You should be proud.

PAM: In this forum, the abbreviation "PK" stands for Pain killer.

Listen, I'm don't get on here to fight, be stupid or give wrong info. What I talk about is only from my experience. Two people on here helped me when I first started my Sub's. When it come to pk's, I sapose the one thing I should have explained better because yes, there are people who may still abuse and take pk's at the same time. Not in my case so it was written. Anyway...BL and Cro head both helped me on this journey, if it weren't for them I probably would still be a user.... Yes, I took PK's and directly after I took my Sub's , there are no partisapated withdraws at all! Also, I took my Sub's then pk's...No withdraws...it doesn't work that way. YES, it the wrong thing to do and I did this at the beginning.. The serious part of doing this is you can over dose because the Sub's block the feel of the pk's so doing this is not smart! I'm not on here to write a book or give wrong advise but I'm also not on here to make it a game or a boxing match. I'm an adult and act as one. So, nothing I have said previously was wrong. This is MY experience, no one else's.
As far as other meds mixed with Sub's, I have no clue...I didn't take anything else but pk's! So my experience is limited.
Now, you can have cat fights all you want...this is not why I joined this group.
Peace

Call your pharmacy, speak to a pharmacist... Ask about subutex...not suboxone...don't know anything about suboxone.. (subutex only) is what I take. Ask if you will go into withdrawals before or after. I know I'm nothing special, but it is what it is. Now...the only explanation to what you are saying, don't know for sure but as far as stronger opiates... maybe you will have withdraws because they're are stronger. I'm not saying anything false. But again...Make a call. Again, I'm speaking of subutex, not suboxone. WOW

CHUCKO: Whom are you talking to? If it is to me, I have no problem with people's reading abilities. I DO have a problem with people saying the same thing to me OVER AND OVER as if it's ME with the reading comprehension problems. I DO have a heart, and I am only on here to help. Ask me anything you want, and I will put as simply and directly as possible. If it is someone else on here you are addressing, then nevermind! :)

My Dr first put me on Suboxone and I am a diabetic, and it made my blood sugar go up very high around 5 to 600 and I had to take insulin almost 8 to 10 times a day to get my sugar down. So I told my Dr about it and he suggested that I should be on Subutex, and after I started on that my blood sugar was great and I did not have to use anymore insulin. But after being on it for about 3 months the clinic that my Dr worked for wanted documentation that I needed to be on it, so I went to my diabetes Dr and she wrote out that taking Suboxone made my sugar go up and I had to take insulin but being on subutex my sugar was good and not using insulin no more and my body was starting to produce some insulin on its own, so I gave this to my Subutex Dr and he put it into my file. I have been on subutex for almost 3 years now and feel great, and I am remaining clean. But this last September My Dr sent out letters to all of his patients telling us that he was leaving the practice at the end of September 2016 but he referred me to another Dr at the same practice, so I asked him if the New Dr would change my meds because I was taking a half mg of clonazepam 2x day along with the subutex, I have PTSD and I also have bad panic attacks and nightmares that wake me up sweating and shaking, but he promised me no that the other Dr would not change my meds in fact he said why change them you are doing great on them. So I did not have an appt in October but the clinic called in my meds and in November they done the same because all of the Drs had to take on my old Dr patients, and they called in my meds in November also but my insurance had to get my subutex preauthorized again and they did. So I had an appt on December 21st but the nurse called me the day before that and said that the new Dr had been looking over my records and he wanted me to start taking Suboxone and to stop my clonazepam and my lyrica also, I told her that being on Suboxone made my blood sugar go up and I had to use insulin but being on subutex my sugar was great and I wasn't taking insulin anymore, and I also said that my old Dr promised me that they would not change my meds because I was doing so well on them and I had been taking the same meds for almost 3 years. She said that the Old Dr promised all of his patients that. So she said if you do not want to take what this New Dr wants they would give me a 1 months supply of my meds and I would have to find another Dr that would prescribe what I had been taking and they would also release me from the clinic. So I had to take my clonazepam because I had been taking it for years, and taking Suboxone I would have to go back and have problems with my sugar again so I went that direction but it really pissed me off that the clinic done this to me because I did nothing wrong it was my Dr that left and I should not have to call to get me another Dr to prescribe me my meds, it should be the clinic to do this. Also they should have tapered me off of the subutex I was taking 8mg 3 x day so now here I am trying to find another Dr. I cannot believe what they done and how it would have affected my health if I would have done what this New Dr wanted, and in my life a promise is a promise so now I do not know what to do. Can I get an attorney because taking the Suboxone would affect my health and they never even offered to taper me off of the subutex. I am avoiding what will come from the withdrawals when I run out of my subutex because I was a heavy opiate user and the withdrawals were so bad then. So could you possibly say what you would do in my situation? Thanks.

This comment was completely uncalled for! His medication and reasoning his need for it is non of your concern. He was posting a question for feedback not a life realization , Addicts know more then anything that they are just that an addict. No need to rub in our faces. No need to push someone deeper underwater. I can tell by your ignorance that you sir are not an addict nor ever has been one.
