New Subutex Laws (Page 12) (Top voted first)

Updated

I went to see my doctor this week and he told me that the FDA and the DEA had passed a new law for prescribing Subutex. As of July 1st 2015 Subutex can only be given to pregnant woman or to someone with documentation saying they can't take Suboxone. If you don't have that you will be put on Suboxone.

MARY: Taking opioids AFTER Subutex will not produce withdrawals. Taking OPIOIDS and then taking Subutex will produce withdrawals. Yes, it DOES work that way. Wait.....you wouldn't take the time to read my "book", and then you reply in kind? That's called hypocrisy. Whatever lady. I will continue to help people on here and you do whatever; I don't care either way.

TO ANYONE QUESTIONING THIS: Please, do not take subutex/suboxone/zubsolv too soon after taking opiates/opioids. You will regret it. Let me be the one who went through the misery instead of you. If you want more information on this, you can look up "precipitated withdrawals". PEACE.

MARY: And I am speaking about BOTH Subutex and Suboxone. I am speaking about the active ingredient in BOTH, which is Buprenorphine. In this situation, they are THE SAME. GEEZ lady, learn to read. I don't need to "speak with a pharmacist" since it is a know-nothing PHARMACIST who is the one who steered me wrong in the first place. But you would already know all this if you had bothered to read my "book", which you so arrogantly dismissed. I will not be replying to any more of your argumentative posts, because obviously your mind is made of CEMENT. I have the word of two different addiction specialists, many, MANY articles on the subject (I subscribe to several medical journals), my own research, my own experience and the experience of several others. But, AGAIN, I already told you all this. Not my fault if you don't want to learn anything. BYE>>>>>

MARY: AGAIN, everything we are talking about here, and EVERYTHING you just said, was already addressed in what I wrote earlier. It has to do with the binding affinity of antagonist opioids vs. agonist opioids, and what they do to the mu opioid receptors in the brain. These are scientific FACTS. Subutex OR Suboxone DOES NOT MATTER. Do you know about partial vs. full agonist opiates? Antagonist opioids? There is really nothing more to say about it. You keep saying "pks" rather than stating the specific medication you took. I have no idea why you did not experience precipitated withdrawals, (and trust me, you are GLAD you didn't) because you have not provided enough information. There are many, MANY factors that can be to blame. BUT, POINT BLANK, SCIENTIFIC FACT; taking a full agonist opioid and then taking an opioid antagonist like buprenorphine (which is the active ingredient in both Subutex and Suboxone) can and will throw you into precips. AS I SAID, there are many factors that could have kept you from experiencing this. Which is actually a GOOD thing. But if you are going to take a pharmacists word as gospel, then God help you anyway. (and by the way, 90% of people working in pharmacies are not "pharmacists") Don't believe me? I really don't care. I am here only to help, and to protect people from bad advice.

True I have a question, has anyone noticed Subutex makes you kind of moody, headache and still doesn't stop cravings well? I believe I'm switching to 10-20mg of methadone Monday. For my habit I feel I need the stronger just until I've done counseling and am stronger. Sub still has me craving, and pissy all day

MIMI: I don't know about that.... I would get a second opinion on that one. I don't think Naloxone is all that great for the baby. Seriously, talk to another doctor.

CROATIANCHAD: I thought you said the Subutex had you nodding out and high? Hmmm.... maybe the methadone will be better for you. I know it works better for me. I switched from the max dose of Subutex to methadone tablets a couple years ago. I am VERY SLOWLY going down on my dose. Am currently on 85 mgs, planning on going down another 5 mgs in a couple weeks. If you DO go on the methadone, I would try to just do the minimum amount.

If you put as much focus on worrying about your own damn self instead of being a d**** to someone who's apparently trying to fight an addiction you may get somewhere in life. Why are you on here posting if you are against this s*** so much. Its people like you that make me dislike other human beings.

463MX: Amen to that. People who haven't been through what we've been through have no clue what it's like. Do not speak of another man until you have walked in his shoes.

Gg: Amen to that. The Suboxone WRECKED my stomach and made my migraines so much worse. If my doctor hadn't been able to switch me to Subutex, I doubt I would have been able to continue on Bupe. I could NOT take that Naloxone. I was already a migraine sufferer and had chronic nausea problems when I started the Bupe, and the Naloxone just exacerbated those pre-existing conditions.

I couldn't find any law. I live in ohio and I am still receiving my subutex. I am not a woman or pregnant.

Subutex and suboxone are not the same. I mean I do not care one way or the other but subutex does not have naloxone ("blocker") added to it. Some folks are sensitive to it.

JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY A PERSON WOULD SPEND HIS TIME TRYING TO GIVE AN ADDICT S***. IT IS A FACT THAT WE ARE A STRONG BUNCH, WE HAVE ENDURED MANY LONG NIGHTS IN THE FETAL POSITION. I LAUGH WHEN PEOPLE LIKE YOU TRY AND MAKE US LESS WHEN MOST OF US ARE GOOD FOLKS WITH AMBITION AND HIGH INTELLIGENCE.

JAKE: I don't think it is a law in Colorado either. I was still getting Subutex when I switched to tablet Methadone, and I know someone who still gets Subutex, who is not a pregnant woman. So it may just be state by state.
