For various reasons I suffer from Spinal Stenosis, Herniated Disc in Cervical area of spine, also suffered a broken tailbone. I suffer from terrible nerve pain in my pelvic area, neck, down my legs and spine. My dr. has recently put me on 50mg fentayl patch. I also take Gabapintin. These still are only controling about 59% of my pain and if I do something to aggravate my injuries I sometimes get screaming pain. A friend recommended Methadone in conjunction with what I'm taking. I have taken Oxycontin, Oxycodone in high doses so my tolerance is very high. Can anyone tell me if adding Methodone to my other meds would help and if it could be risky--as far as overdosing etc..? ## I doubt that Methadone will help you, since the Fentanyl that you are already using is far stronger than Met...

My doctor diagnosed me with osteoartitis this week. He prescribed Treipiline 10mg, one tablet at night time, as well as Neurontin 100mg. According to what I am reading on the internet it is depression and epilepsy medication. Will it give me pain relieve at all? ## Yes, the Tripiline contains Amitriptyline, which is a tricyclic antidepressant and Neurontin is an antiseizure medication, but they have both also been proven effective at helping with certain types of nerve pain. You can learn more about them here: Are there any other questions or comments?

I started with 100 MG and now I'm up to 300mg twice a day for a total of 600mg per day. Still having outbursts and some mood swings of sorts...I'm not bipolar but I have a sort of flip switch that could be triggered by many things...This causes my temper to rise up. ## How long have you been on the current dosage? Neurontin is an anti-seizure medication that has also been proven to help with certain types of nerve pain, as well as to act as a mood stabilizer, but it can take approximately 4 to 6 weeks, at one dosage, for it to reach its full effects in the body. I am on mmt and I take neurontin and xanax, i just failed a ua for having more klonipin than xanax in my system. I have not been on klonopin in several years. Is there anything that could have caused this to happen? I'm in alot of trouble for this and am very upset. ## Xanax is indicated to test positive for Benzodiazepines. And since Xanax and Klonopin belong to the same drug class (benzodiazepines) and are similar medications, it would make sense that Xanax is the cause for the false positive result. False positives are just another term for a mistake made by the testing facility (it's their secret way of putting the blame on you rather than them). If I were in your shoes I would demand a retest or schedule a test at some other clinic or doctor's office for verification pu...

I have been taking neurontin for 3 mnths with no side effects but the other day I had citra soda and was sick the following a.m with the runs and nausea! I hadn't eaten anything out of the ordinary but felf ill at the thought of eating anything I had eaten the day before. Stomach cramps and lethargy? I seem to recall that you can't mix neurontin with antacid meds?? ## The reason for the warning about taking antacids with Neurontin is due to the fact that it can cause your body to absorb less of the Neurontin than usual, so it may not be as effective. It is recommended they be taken, at least 2 hours apart. It should not, however, cause the types of symptoms that you've experienced. Have you contacted your doctor?

nearing 50, and seem to be getting a few senior moments more often, I wont to start taking neurostin and want to know if it really works and is it worth the cost?? ## I have the same questions. I can't seem to find any testimonials from anyone who has tried it. ## Neurostin is an over the counter product, a supplement, touted, but thus NOT PROVEN to help with memory loss. ## Is anyone out there taking something that actually does work? If so, what is it? ## please dont. i am 26 and have taken it for 1.5yrs in the last 2 weeks of reducing this i have experienced such extreme anxiety, memory and cognition problems, i hope it gets better. ## @ Donna... Can this drug cause some one to bruise on any part of thier body. The patient is taking meds for pais with cancer. ## Neurontin contains the active ingredient Gabapentin, it is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain. It is possible that the bruising can be due to the Neurontin, but with such a medical condition, I am sure they are also on other medications/treatments, so it is very important that the patient's doctor be consulted to determine the problem. Is there anything else I can help with?

i have been taking it and possibly may get tested for it. ## Hi morgan, According to a number of sources I've come across, the half life of Neurontin (Gabapentin) is 5-7 hours, and is generally out of your system in 2 days time. My reference for the info above can be viewed in the link below: NOTE: Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables while staying hydrated throughout the day will significantly help your body detox quicker. Besides getting plenty of rest each night I'd also recommend getting at least an hour each day of exercise in to help sweat out any toxins and get your lymphatic system flowing (which will aid in detoxification as well). For more information about this drug, please refer to the link below... If you have any more questions or concerns, please post back and I...

Just a question, I have Lumbar and Throic Spondolysis, and fracture in the some of the disc areas, we are not going to operate and the pain stays just gets more intense as time goes on. I have been on Vico 10/325 3 times a day and Neurtion 3 times a day, this helps but does not give me total comfort. Should I look for comfort? and is there a better combination I can tell my Dr at the pain center. Just wondering If anybody had a better suggestion. ## If this combination is working for you, for the most part, then you may want to talk to your doctor about adjusting one of them. You didn't say what dosage you are on of the Neurontin, but I know the Vicodin, which contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, is available with higher amounts of the Acetaminophen, that helps the efficacy of th...

She has to take one neurantin in the sfternoon and then has to set her alarm at !.30am to take another or else her RLS kicks in Can anyone tell me if she may have been given the wrong Med for RLS ## Well, it is not approved for that use, but some doctor's do learn off-label uses for drugs and it is perfectly legal and acceptable for them to prescribe them for such. Hey listen, weaning is the only way to detox alone.. Here's what to do and what you need... Get a script of Neurontin, (doctors shouldn't have a problem) get a script of Klonopin (doctors will give this for a good reason) get Imodium AD, lots of water, lots of juice. Wean down as far as you can and then take that last jump off. You'll be hot then cold then hot. You'll be out of it.. You'll "have a very bad flu." You'll throw up.. You'll have the runs.. But the horrible part will be the deep hole of dispare.. You can medicate for everything else..the black hole is the real issue. It takes a strong mind to throw this off. As the brain heals and the receptors get use to not receiving opiates..you will feel the improvement. It's like waking from a nig...

Can I take tramacet and neurontin for nerve pain? ## I am taking Neurontin for nerve pain in my face. I was also given Tramacet for headaches triggered by pain in the jaw joint. The Neurontin works on the face pain but not the jaw and headaches. I have found if I take tramcet late in the evening it won't let me sleep. The neurontin helps me sleep otherwise. If I take them both in the day time there is no problem but I just take the tramacet once in a day and maybe once or twice a week. I have fibromyalgia so have had trouble sleeping for 17 years - the neurontin is like a miracle drug because I can finally sleep!! And it is the only thing I take now.
