Neuratin/sinemet
UpdatedIve just spoken to an 8o yr old lady who has been prescribed neurantin2 for restless leg syndrome. I am queering this as I am a huge suffer of RLS and sinemet is the more common med for this--then permax which are also for parkinsons . She has to take one neurantin in the sfternoon and then has to set her alarm at !.30am to take another or else her RLS kicks in Can anyone tell me if she may have been given the wrong Med for RLS

Well, it is not approved for that use, but some doctor's do learn off-label uses for drugs and it is perfectly legal and acceptable for them to prescribe them for such.
As to this one, if it does help, them there is no harm in her taking it, it does have less side effects and fewer drug interactions than the others that are commonly prescribed for RLS.
As to her taking it at 1:30 in the morning, she should consider adjusting her dosage time, so perhaps she would take one later in the day, before going to sleep and then she wouldn't have to wake up to take the other and instead may take it as soon as she wakes up.
There are newer meds for RLS. Both work well, one made me nauseated. Ask your doc. Mirapex and one other - I forgot - it's th eone I do not take.
It was perscribed this drug several years ago for RLS, am currently using generic Gabepetin, it has worked great for me. I have tried to wean myself off this to see if I could get along without it and Ill tell you after just a few days I am back on it. I know there are new drugs for RLS but why change if this works. I take one at bed time.
My mom has Parkinson and R LS and she takes both Ropinrole (Requip) in two different strengths which is also for Parkinson too and Gabapentin which is also for depression.
